We owe a huge thank you to Sitar and the team at Basmati Petworth for providing us with an exceptional birthday meal for my Dad. What a kind and thoughtful man Sitar is, surprising us all with a birthday cake! The main meal was outstanding and we laughed and smiled throughout the evening. Would highly recommend a visit, not just because of the great service, but the unusual nature of eating in a stunning underground restaurant. Thank you to the team, from the Hayler family.

Excellent service and absolutely beautiful food. It was quite busy but this did not impact the service. One of the best restaurants we’ve been too and so lucky it’s local.

Sorry to write a bad review but very unfriendly staff. This was from arrival to leaving. Food average. Overpowering damp smell in the restaurant that made enjoying the food impossible.

Our party found everything at the restaurant was very good and we would definitely return if we were in the aria and fancied a curry.

A very busy night with diners and take away which was lovely to see amazing food and service as always

A large family party allowed their children to run round the restaurant shouting whilst we were trying to eat and have a conversation. In typical British fashion no-one dared tell them to be quiet so, despite the food having been excellent, (as it always is Basmati) I didn't enjoy the evening.

It was a fab venue, with history and atmosphere in the previous wine cellar of the Petworth House mansion. The staff were really friendly and the food was the best I've had for years. We will certainly be going back!

As soon as I entered I had a feeling this wasn't going to be good. Yes it was raining outside but the walls inside were damp and the staff not interested or welcoming. The poppadoms had chopped onion,watery mango chutney and mint in plastic cups you would find at IKEA. The beers, we had to turn 3 back as they were clearly off, and we were not the only people to do this. I had the mixed grill with spinach and bombay potatoes. The spinach and bombay potatoes dishes should have been piping hot but were close to cold. The mixed grill(also barely warm)...the chicken was not cooked all the way through. Disgusting. Yes we got a bit of money off for the beers being off and the chicken not cooked BUT you are an Indian restaurant specialising in this and should have better standards and food quality than this. It's not acceptable to serve uncooked food wether you're busy or not. I booked this table nearly 2 weeks ago and based on the reviews I saw we were looking forward to it. A shame for the restaurant that it turned out this way as we most certainly won't be back. I did enjoy my mcdonalds on the way back though

As always, it was a great meal and venue. Food is fresh and packed with flavour. It's one of my favourite places for a meal. The staff are excellent.
