In the pretty market town of Heanor, a few miles to the northeast of Derby, there’s an Indian restaurant whose menu is simply begging to be thoroughly plumbed. It’s called Bay Leaf, and its town centre location up on Market Street is often packed out with locals and Derbyshire curry house connoisseurs looking to feed their body and mind with South Asian spice. The focus here is on contemporary Indian cuisine, with spices ground fresh on site and no artificial ingredients making their way into the food. The menu is incredibly comprehensive, with Bay Leaf’s exclusive dishes, seafood specials and fusion dishes particularly deserving of attention. Besides traditional Indian and Bangladeshi dishes, Bay Leaf’s expert chefs are also adept at preparing Nepalese and Afghan dishes for some real northern soul.
WILL not be returning 😠waited 40 mins for 5 glasses of coke? Which I then had to ask for? Curries took 1hr 30 mins which I had to enquire about. Booked for 7.30 received food at 9.10 pm. After enquiring about them at 9pm. wasn't very busy, more interested in getting takeaway out the door.
My wife and I had a lovely meal at Bay Leaf. It's a pleasant atmosphere and great service. The only downside was the toilets, very poor. They only need to spend a little to make it a top place to eat. It does make you wonder what the kitchen is like. Other than that, great, thanks.
Bay leaf always delivers this good food and service even on busy New Year’s Eve. Was delicious and a pleasure to celebrate with the team.
