Lovely roast dinner, good portion size, friendly staff, nice atmosphere

I booked an early dinner, and was promptly seated and served. As the night became busier, the only two waiters were kept very busy. I don't fault them, but I would have lingered for dessert, but opted to leave rather than continue to wait.

Our overall experience was good and we would go back. Attention to detail could be improved. We waited quite a long time for our food to arrive and had someone told us what the wait time was, that would have managed our expectations better. We were not offered condiments with our main meal and the chicken pie was very average.

Quickly shown to our table and service was quick. Food is your average bar food. Prices are also average. But it is NOISY. The whole place echoes so it is really loud and i struggled to hear what the person seated opposite me was saying. Wont come again as it is too noisy for a meal.

As always, food is consistently excellent, plentiful portions, very well cooked; and huge variety, including excellent selection for gluten free diets. You pay a little more than some other local Pubs, but when the food is excellent and service delightful, it’s worth every penny

We arrived earlier than planned due to finishing our walk to Birling Gap a little earlier, the waitress advised that they were about to have a BIG group in for food so we were told that we would need to order quickly so we wouldn’t have to wait a long time for food - This was very much appreciated. All of the staff were absolutely incredible, we had our frenchie with us and they brought out treats for him and water for us after we said about our long walk. Food came quickly and was delicious, also had desserts which was also amazing. Honestly, can’t fault the place it was great, thank you x
