Bird in Hand

Been here a few times now, and always have a great meal, and always have lovely staff serving us. The only issue I had this time was, I ordered the lobster, but the restaurant didn’t have any lobster forks to get the meat out of the shell. This made trying to eat the lobster very hard work. But apart from that, top notch as usual.

The veggie roast was the best I’ve had and the cheesecake delicious . Husband enjoyed his burger though likes his chips peeled Great staff and atmosphere

Bkd 3pm table for sunday lunch and disappointed with the roast pots and lack of veg. Overcooked and Luke warm unfortunately as had invited friends to join us. Won’t go again for Sunday lunch

The second time we've been to this understated gastropub, and each time we've been really impressed good-size. The Hake special, and the Salmon & samphire dish from the à la carte menu were both fab.

Lovely food wait times were a little long but food was very good so we didn’t mind too much. Throughly recommende the crispy skinned salmon.

Having tried out lunch here with a fabulous good value set menu a few weeks ago, we returned for a roast dinner which didn't disappoint and was delicious! Despite being really busy, the service was fab and with good timing. Very impressed! Our new favourite pub.

A bit quiet which is unusual for a Saturday here but attentive service and great food as ever

My wife and I arrived for lunch at 12.00 and there were only a couple of parking spaces available. We assumed the pub was very busy, but there were only a couple of guests already seated. Evidently non visitors to the pub use the car park. If we had booked a later meal time there would not have been anywhere to park!

Excellent food but very slow service. Not up to the usual standard but maybe because there was a large party there at the same time.

Warm welcome by staff. Food well presented and tasted good. Never had any complaint about Bird in hand

Was sat at the table and given a menu. No wine list. No-one mentioned the specials or soup of the day. Waited for about 15 mins before we eventually managed to get any service. Food was OK but not fabulous. Wine was excellent but quite pricey. Staff were friendly when you could get their attention. Very noisy when we arrived but it did quieten to be fair. Room was very cold not heating was on.

Great visit and our waitress was awesome. We’ll definitely be back.
