we went here for a birthday celebration for my daughter , staff where very helpful with making sure cake was taken and came out at the right time , food was amazing, and service was amazing would highly recommended

Nice place, quick friendly service, lovely food and a reasonable price. What's not to love! Liked that there was a set price lunch although the choices were not vastly to my own taste. Had Gammon, egg and chips + sticky toffee pudding. All fine. Some friends thought the pork belly was far too salty. Not our first visit and would certainly visit again.

We went there for Sunday lunch. The restaurant was very busy with families and couples of all ages. The Sunday lunch menu offered a good choice for meat eaters, fish eaters and vegetarians alike. The food was good and the service excellent. The waiting staff were very attentive. I would visit the Bird in Hand again.

As always delicious food with great service in a lively atmosphere. Good choice of wines and beers. Make sure that you book - so you are not disappointed!

Great food and amazing sevice. Very accommodating of my friend with coeliac disease, with a range of gluten free options on the menu, and a willingness to adapt some meals. Will definitely be visiting again soon and spreading the word! :-)

Sunday lunch time is a busy time but the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was tasty. It was good value and I would recommend it for lunch with friends.

Lovely food, a little bit different from the usual... But it works! Sweet, friendly staff. Good ambience. Can be quite loud when full. Definitely recommend.

Good atmosphere and had a fantastic meal choosing the fish off the specials board. Good sized portions throughout all three courses. Definitely go back again and would recommend to book as restaurant was full.

The food was excellent as always, did ask what pink Gins you had and was just bought a ‘white” one back which I didn’t ordered. Service was slow and a little haphazard. However the food made up for it.

Food and service were both outstanding. Only thing to improve is the atmosphere. It is just too noisy to enjoy a pleasant evening. Large group and noisy children in the restaurant and a lot of noise from large groups in the bar. Somehow the atmosphere does not quite match the food.

Exceptional Sunday roast. Must be the best in the local area by a mile. Service is great and very friendly. Faultless.

Excellent. The food is always amazing here, as is the service. I only wish that the beer selection was slightly better (the quantity of choice is enough but the beers themselves aren't particularly great).

2 starters - chorizo & whitebait , 3 mains - seafood risotto chicken & pork belly - 2 deserts - chocolate fudge cake & ice cream with choc sauce - all delicious and beautifully presented. A good bottle of red and pleasant service too. Highly recommend.

It is a very nice restaurant. The staff are good and the food is very good. There was a good selection of food on the menu. The food was reasonably priced.

Delicious Sunday lunch. The roast beef was great, unfortunately dessert was disappointing. Apple crumble is one of my favourites but appeared with only the lightest sprinkle of crumble, not the old school dessert I'd hoped for.

We had an excellent meal with some very creative elements in composition and presentation. The staff were very attentive. We thought it offered reasonably good value. Unfortunately there were two other very noisy tables in a smallish part of the restaurant -- one a table of 16 including some very young children, the other a table of 6 (7?) with very loud voices. Both made conversation quite difficult.

A very imaginative menu. Even if the dishes are"standard", there is an interesting twist to it. Food is delicious and well presented. Service is excellent. On my favourites list.

Wonderful pub - beautiful setting (the beer garden is gorgeous!), the food is consistently amazing and the staff are lovely, warm, helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

The booking was easy to do online, the service was excellent with a nice bottle of water on arrival. The food was really lovely and well presented. No better way to celebrate our anniversary.

Food lovely and service very attentive and efficient. Nothing to fault regarding the restaurant. You have to bare in mind that this is a local pub and although the food is a step up from the usual pub grub, it is still a pub so not the place to go to if you want a quiet intimate atmosphere. Lots of hard surfaces which makes for a noisy dining experience. Easy to keep clean but you have to raise your voice a bit to be heard. Would I go back there again? Yes, definitely, but maybe on a quieter weekday night.

Good service. The food was excellent. We all thoroughly enjoyed our family birthday meal. We did find it quiet noisy at times, but then many pubs can be. Will be going to Bird in Hand again at some point.

as a regular customer in the restaurant I was yet again most impressed with the meal we had on Sunday 8th July. Beautifully presented, delicious and with impeccable service, I recommend the Bird in Hand to everyone.

We had a large table reserved for outside and the weather changed to rain. The staff had already checked the weather and reserved us another table inside! So helpful.

We had the set meal. The main courses were lovely. We found the description of the deserts a little misleading and one of the party was expecting a crumble, which wasn't what turned up, so changed their desert choice. Perhaps they are trying to be what they are not. Having said that, overall we enjoyed our meal there. Only comment I would make is the restaurant seems very noisy.

Great service from very attentive staff. The food was excellent - well presented and good portion size. Menu caters for all sizes of appetite so really easy to find some to suit.

We hadn't been to the Bird in Hand since the refurbishment; but it was well worth a revisit, it's still a pub with a restaurant, but the menu is now something different and way beyond what you might expect in a pub. I had the Grilled Chorizo for a starter followed by a wonderful Lightly Battered Hake and my wife had Smoked Mackerel Mousse followed by Baked Portobello Mushroom Wellington, all of which were beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. The wine list was also good with a wide range catering for all tastes and pockets. We both said "we must come here again". As for the staff, we would like to single out "Helen" for her help with the menu and her positive and friendly demeanour.
