the food and service were excellent and of a high standard. It’s alwaya delicious and fresh. The restaurant is cosy and oozes Italian charm with the art, music and layout.

Excellent food and service. We`ll definitely be back. Despite living in Durham all my life this was my first visit. Very competitive prices and the place was full which is always a good sign.

Warm, cosy atmosphere, brilliant service and great food for not that high a price. Never knew of this place before but would definitely go again and highly recommend!

Had a lovely meal on Sunday before going to the comedy store in Durham. Good menu great value service was excellent .... we will be back soon

Staff was very friendly & attentive. Food was great, but the music was very loud. Our family (with kids) went out to chat & catch up, but it was hard to hear one another talking. Next time we'll request a table further away from the speakers - perhaps that will help.

First visit to this restaurant before going to the Gala Theatre. Lovely cosy place to eat good food. Service was friendly and would definitely return.

We were regulars at this restaurant during the three years that our son was lecturing at Durham University - it was our favourite eating establishment in the city. We were in Durham last week for work , not having been there for a year or so and thought we would visit our old haunt . We were warmly welcomed and chose from the specials board - this bistro specialises in fish and my husband chose the tuna carpaccio followed by sea bream fillets and I had my favourite Melanzana and then tuna fillet . Our food was cooked to perfection and delicious. The service was excellent as it always has been . Highly recommended !

Food ,wine, and service- all fine . Restaurant was a bit chilly even though Staff tried to rectify the temperature as soon as we arrived.

This was our second visit to Bistro Italiano and as previously the welcome was warm and the food delicious. This was a lunchtime reservation and we shared a pizza between three of us as a starter and then had pasta which was well presented and tasty. Next time we are on Durham we will eat in this restaurant again.

Beautiful greeting on arrival. Excellent service and attentive staff throughout the meal (Monday evening). A really cosy atmosphere, a super choice of food plus specials. Quality was excellent.

Always have a good food when we eat there. The fish dishes are very good and a nice steak also. Good wine but can be expensive. The restaurant has a good ambience.

Fantastic food, service and nice warm atmosphere. The toilets upstairs really need looking at as these appear to be really dated and the stairway really needs some attention.

Although I had booked, an extra table had to be laid to accommodate us. We also Had to wait too long for starter to be served

We ordered off the specials menu. When the bill came it was more expensive and were told the specials didn’t apply in December. Food was ok.

Very good service, prompt and attentive. Lots of choices on menu and good price range. Potato skins were delicious and reasonable portions too. Will definitely go back again.

Food is good. Was sat by the door and was draughty when people left the door open but would definitely go back again and would recommend it to others.

We visited Bistro Italiano for Sunday lunch very recently as a family party of 6 adults and 1 child. We had a mixture of 3 course Sunday lunch and the a la carte menu. The food was excellent and we would recommend.

The meal was lovely but we all wished the potato skins had more potatoe in rather been like a crispy crisp but will definitely try again

Came to visit Durham for the weekend and found this place for dinner. Great food and atmosphere. The staff were attentive and friendly too. Would recommend to anyone.

The bistro is simply great. One of the best restaurants in Durham. You can get straight forward pizza or pasta dishes but you can also get really nice a la carte dihes too. I had a lemon sole special which was outstanding

Atended Bistro Italiano for an anniversary meal with my husband, had a lovely evening. Nice atmospheric restaurant, service excellent and food wonderfull. We will be returning soon. Highly recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Lovely food as usual. Fantastic value, 2 courses for £8.95 on early bird menu which has the choices I would go for anyway. Quick service with a very reasonable glass of house wine.

Great restaurant, lovely staff - felt so welcome. Great value for money. We had the 3 course set menu and there is so much choice. Really nice setting too.

Good food, lovely people, reasonably priced. Decor is a little faded but the soul of the place most certainly isn't. Will definitely eat here again if I return to Durham.

This is the first visit too this restaurant and would not hesitate in making a return trip. The food was very nice and well presented. The interior is pleasant Staff were friendly and very happy to assist in menu selections.

We had excellent service. It was a welcoming experience. They were helpful to cater to needs of other customers - there was a family with two young kids who sat at the table next to us. They readily gave the hungry kids something to eat.

Great food, reasonable prices, helpful staff. One of the party isnt big on italian food but lots of seafood choices that made her happy. Decor is a bit rustic but suitable.

This is one of the best Italian restaurants in the Durham area. The food is excellent and they have great customer service. Would highly recommend although you do have to book as it can get quite busy on weekends.
