Nice food, but with no music the atmosphere was quite flat. The busy market stall outside keeps the staff split between two places, so if you need a quick lunch then pick up some food from the stall and find a local park.

Went on a Friday night and restaurant was completely empty. Waiter’s did not seem fussed for us being there. Did not stay. Will go back for lunch as food was recommended.

Lovely food, courteous service. It’s a very small space so the incredibly loud person at a nearby table meant that at times we could not hear each other speak. Maybe not the place to go for a quiet meal if a group is filling the rest of the space

The food was lovely, there were great choices, including gluten free options. The service was also really great. I would totally recommend that you try it out!

Lovely cooking. It's a little pricey but we did enjoy the food. The gnocchi starter was delicious, as were the ravioli. Good service, the waiter was friendly and polite. A good place to go to before a show at the Barbican!

Great food service and atmosphere in an independent veggie vegan restaurant. Refreshing to find something like this at good prices. Nice Cotes du Rhône as well!

I always enjoy the food here. It's always hard to choose as it all sounds so good. The organic wine is nice too. It can be quiet, so some quiet background music might be nice, so you don't end up listening to your neighbours conversation!

Food was very good and service very kind and helpful. Located within an easy reach of transport. A bit on the pricey side, but maybe London prices?

Very nice food. I was sorry that we were in something of a hurry, as I'm sure we would have enjoyed it even more with more time. The portions were almost too ample, especially in the main course on the set menu, but of course some people have bigger appetites. It's a pleasant restaurant.

Good quality, thoughtful, well made food for vegetarians (and no complaints from meat eaters too). Surprisingly good organic house red wine too! I haven’t been here in a while and I’m really glad to see it’s still doing the business - don’t change!

The food is great here (large portions too) and the staff were so charming and welcoming even though we were late. It tends to be quieter in the evenings but if you are looking for good veggie food its great. (and they had a grüner veltliner white wine on the menu) my favourite white wine.... well worht the visit ...

Quiet atmosphere and setting. A great place if you want to have conversation with tablemates. A quaint and small space offering a feel of escape from a busy streetscape.

From the street, the restaurant looks like a small shop, but inside it is much larger than it looks and is cosy and friendly. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable but not intrusive. The menu is excellent with a 3 course special which looked to be good value. We selected from the a la carte and were very happy with our choices. The wine list is good being mainly organic and reasonably priced. I shall definitely return!

They cancelled 20 minutes before my lunch due to staff shortages. This left me in a bit of a predicament as i had to find somewhere quick for my work lunch appointment.

Nice food but it could do with a few more vegan options on the menu. Quiet for lunch but they do have a stall outside in the market

Very tasty vegetarian food, with brilliantly done bread and butter pudding. The restaurant only has two small rooms.. Short wine list, but adequate. Close to the Barbican centre.

We've been coming here regularly for over twenty years and it still doesn't disappoint - lose one mark only because they'd run out of house white!

Food was great. Service was very friendly. We really enjoyed our lunch here. Only reason why I don't give it a 6 is that the looks of the place could be improved a little.

The restaurant was very empty - for a while we were the only two people there - and there was no music playing so the atmosphere was non-existent. The food was OK, but a few small thingswould have made a big difference, eg although some menu items were flagged as gluten-free there was no gluten-free bread, and the mezze starter had three dips but no bread or crudites, which means you end up eating hummus with a fork. If it was full, with music playing, it could be a nice place, but on the night we went it fell flat.

Lovely setting and staff. Food was delicious, even the omnivores at the table were blown away by how good the food was. The risotto was the only dish that wasn't perfect, too much and over cooked. Everyhting else was great! Thank you

Carnevale is a lovely, intimate restaurant tucked away down a street near Barbican. The service was friendly and the food was really very good. We had the ravioli starter which was delicious and then shared the felafel with harrisa and hummus and the potato cakes. We left full and very happy!

I ate here years ago and it was great. Last night it was really poor quality food. Dry unpleasant main. The desert was dry and cold in the middle and hard. The only nice thing was my partners starter. Really very very dissspointing. It wasn’t complex food and could easily have been very nice. I’ll not be going there again.

Very good food! Only issue was how cold it was due to the door being open (power cord was running out to the stall). Definitely not warm enough but otherwise great

This was my first vegetarian/vegan restaurant I’ve tried and it was surprisingly tasty. I’d probably say the portions are a bit too generous but that’s down to personal taste. Service was attentive, setting was nice although the folding chairs out the back were a bit rickety.

My party of eight were well pleased with our experience, enjoying a range of tasty and well presented dishes and a good choice of soft drinks. Main courses were quite generous so we found those sufficient with just coffees or hot chocolate to finish. The waiter was pleasant and unobtrusively efficient. The staff were unphased by the fact that several of us were rather late arriving. The room is very simple and not particularly spacious, but this didn't spoil our enjoyment. Pricing seems appropriate for the high-quality fare on offer. Some of us said we would happily return to Carnevale individually .
