Tends to be a little too noisy at times, but gorgeous food!
Good food with a good selection of health options,, however service was poor despite there being plenty of staff. Probably a training issue as there a lot of casual staff for the festival who seemed to ignore tables in the corners of the restaurant.
We were looking for an other bottle of wine but took them sooo long to get anyone’s attention we ended up only having 2 bottles but we would of prob have had more if we weren’t left ignored.
Good food, nice service just acoustic of the place are not the best. But overall we had a great time. Thank you!
The food was great! Loved the menu something a bit different. Friendly staff.
Lively & noisy with good food & friendly attentive staff
Great vegan options, good service. A lovely evening meal out!
Great atmosphere, lovely staff and a perfectly cooked medium rare steak (as well as delicious vegetarian/vegan dishes)
Mediocre food, expensive for what it was. Six of us for lunch, no-one very impressed. Shame, last time I ate here I couldn’t fault it. Seems to have been a menu change and not for the better. Won’t be back.
Lovely staff, great food, beautifully presented. Fantastic location. Relaxed vibe.
Ordered pesto linguine with peas and asparagus, on arrival it was lukewarm. Requested different choice of food which wasn't a problem.
Waited nearly an hour for the main course, staff more about excuses than apologies. Food was actually good but experience ruined by the wait
I booked this restaurant because it featured on Hidden Edinburgh’s best places to brunch list. The whole experience was so disappointing, I definitely wouldn’t go back. Appalling service, moody and hungover employees and average food. We waited 30 minutes for someone to take our order, even after we’d popped to the bar to politely ask if it was possible. Our food was over cooked and arrived almost an hour after we had sat down and well before our drinks order did, despite asking for it twice, when were met with frosty stares. The food was average at best, poached eggs hard as nails, burnt shakshuka and dry scrambled eggs. Very disappointing and if this is one of Edinburgh’s best brunch spots I’d hate to visit the bad ones ....
Service was fine as was the cost. It just needs a bit more attention to detail. I ordered mint tea and got green tea and while they did change it, it took a while. And when it was clear we had overstayed our welcome, we were rather rushed out
Food was lovely but service was exceedingly slow. Over an hour between ordering and food arriving.
Booked table for 3, given table near window which was great. Service was good, as were the choices, all at a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend.
It was fine.staff very accommodating on a busy festival Saturday. Thanks
Lovely atmosphere. Brilliant menu choice and utterly delicious food!! Service was a little slow but it is festival time.
Visit on the first night of the festival, very busy with a great atmosphere. Food was fantastic, despite my fears that being so busy might lead to average food. Great place for good food and a great buzz.
Lovely friendly staff, great vibe nice and relaxed, great food and a fab location too.
thanks for the nice experience that thursday evening before the concert at the Jazz and Blues Festival.
Nice food at a good price. We’ll definitely visit again
The meal was perfectly acceptable, with choices for the meat eaters and vegetarians. Everything was enjoyable except the coffee which was undrinkably bitter. The waiting staff were helpful and friendly and the meal represented good value for money.
We were almost the only diners in the huge empty space. Music pounding like it was 10 p.m. Food expensive and just acceptable. Would not recommend.
Warm welcome efficient service tasty food and good quality inexpensive wine. Recommend making a reservation at lunchtime to avoid disappointment
very tasty food and good value for money. Definitely worth a visit.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere great menu and friendly attentive service 😊
Best meal we've had since arriving in the UK one week ago.
Great food, vibes, and service. Would go back again! They have good choices for both meat eaters and vegetarians!
A lovely meal and excellent service from our waitress, Sophie.
we were in the container area which was good as wasnt quite so noisy
Really enjoyed eating at Checkpoint - nice food & nice vibe.
As is the case each time we visit, the service is terrible but the great food makes up for it. If you're eating here you need to make sure you're not in a rush because the waiter's definitely aren't!
Great food, atmosphere, and service. Reasonable prices. Would highly recommend.
Food was excellent, ambience really relaxed and condusive to having good conversations and the staff were very helpful.
Had a great time dining in this place. The food was excellent, the price is very good and the staffs service is awesome. Highly recommend this place.
Delicious as always, come here to get my ragout-bloody Mary- apple crumble fix!
Good food. Good value. Lovely freindly staff - excellent service. Music way too loud!!
Lovely food, and catering for all dietary requirements. Thanks Checkpoint.
It has a great vibe and ambience for casual drinks but may be a little pricey.
