Clavells Restaurant

The staff were lovely, but the whole experience was let down by the food quality, after reading previous reviews was very disappointed, my partner had the Thai curry which did not taste of Thai food at all, I had the special which turned out to be a starter! The waiter told me it came with a side salad but it was only very little garnish, on the positive the setting was lovely

The menu choice was poor. I appreciate that due to current circumstances menus are reduced but there was no variety to the menu. Sadly the venue is not as good as it was in 2018 and 2019 (we went a number of times during these years and food, service and quality was excellent). We were unable to visit in 2020 due to the pandemic and this is our first experience this year which was poor.

Our meals were lovely and not small portions either. Service was friendly and the balloons for mums birthday was lovely. Thank you Clavells we Will visit again soon x

We go quite often , and love it there, taking more friends next week.

They seemed to be short staffed as we had to wait quite a while to pay our bill, and the chef was delivering meals ( we did feel he should have a mask on when in the main restaurant area ) One meal had been forgotten and by the time it came out of the kitchen the rest of us were half way through our meal. One of our party is gluten free and the ham eggs and chips which she always has there wasn’t on the menu, luckily as we were there before two o’clock she was able to have an omelette . The meals were large portions and hot.

Good service. Clean environment. At times the music too loud for a small area.

Had the sea food platter to share which was amazing however you don’t need the chips because the fish of is plentiful

It was a beautiful day and the restaurant and outside tables almost completely full, but the kitchen was still able to deliver our food within a reasonable time. Most of the menu was seafood, which suited us, though a lot of it was deep-fried. The quality was good and we had a lovely afternoon!

As always, whenever we are able to spend time here, we enjoy the lovely food and the great happy service. We are both just so glad that places such as Clavell's are re-opening finally. We will certainly return soon to enjoy more of their menu and the wine. Thanks

Nice sunny saturday morning,fresh breeze outside but ok.Breakfast was super,service nice and quick,coffee lovely.The walk down to the beach and back was lovely too.Well worth a visit.

Lovely friendly staff who never seem to lose good humour..

Delicious Christmas lunch, perfectly cooked. Mulled cider and xmas pudding were also lovely. Terrific value home cooked food.

Very pleasant, clean and tidy. Great that dogs are welcome too and the food is lovely.

Would definitely recommend a visit here for food. Amazing flavours, good size portions and great value for money! Would return here when back in the area, lovely outside seating area and the pooch was welcomed too. Waiting staff were very bubbly and so friendly. Overall amazing visit. Thank you

A very relaxed atmosphere - there was no problem having a table outside but staff were very helpful in moving us to an inside table when the rain began. I like dogs but there were a lot of well behaved hounds inside - best avoided if you have a fear of dogs!

Staff, as always welcoming, friendly and helpful. Food value for money. Seafood Platter to Share excellent value for money, more than enough for two.

Really enjoyed our evening. Great food and portion size so felt that value for money was excellent. If I am being critical it felt quite busy and cramped but that doesn’t take away from the overall experience which was super!

Good food -self ordering ok - service good . Some litter in outdoor areas which should be removed regularly.

Food was faultless! Absolutely delicious. Just feel that a few more details could be better to protect customers from Covid. Menus are made of paper/cardboard, whereas a laminated menu would be easier to clean. Waitresses should really wear masks when serving, particularly as we saw one with a plate in her hand shouting an order to another at the other side of the garden. Finally we had to wipe our own table when we arrived. Normally none of this would matter, but if the advice here were followed then Clavell's would feel a lot safer.

Too much food on the plate. The Bloody Mary I had was the best I have tasted in many a year. Well done.

Charming place. Lovely staff. We went for the fish sharing platter and seriously could not fault any of it. Excellent value for money.

The food was good the service was excellent otherwise I would not have left a tip, the only thing because of the present epidemic the atmosphere was not as good as usual. Oveall a very pleaseant experience

Restaurant was very busy, after long wait food arrived everything was delicious .Only issue was we ordered from 2 course meal deal and when we went to pay we were asked to pay full amount and had to point this out .

Food excellent, service excellent and our dog made welcome! Overall a lovely friendly experience.
