Friendly atmosphere, fairly simple decor but i like the fact the effort's going into the delicious curries and dosais. Spices beautifully fresh and used in wonderful combinations, very generous portions of everything. Staff friendly. We chose it due to good reviews on tripadvisor and were rewarded! Plus kingfisher lager on tap at a good price...

The food here is different and excellent. The staff are amazing- we would definitely recommend and wish it was local to us! Go along, you won't be disappointed

The food itself was amongst the best curries I've ever tasted. The variety of tastes, textures and flavours was superb and it was all perfectly cooked. My wife said the fish dish one of the best meals (not just curried) of her life so far. The service was great at the start but flaky at the end. However, the waiter recommended a wine without us asking, and it was in my view poor and disappointing, if you're going to recommend a wine it should at least be above average, this one fell well short of that. I'd have no hesitation in returning for the food itself, it was remarkable, but I'd not bother with the wine list.

Quite simply the best curry I have ever eaten. Chef took so much care to ensure the whole family ate a curry that suited their taste

After reading rave reviews online we decided to give Coconut Lagoon a try and were not disappointed. I really enjoy south Indian cuisine and the Dosa's here were fantastic the only minor critcism was the slightly slow (but pleasant) service and incorrect bill (remedied after putting it out.

Fantastic, very tasty unusual food. Very friendly staff. Heading slightly out of town but still easy walking distance and large car park opposite. Will definitely be going back.

Attentive service and excellent food. Something a bit different compared with the familiar Bangladeshi and Punjabi restaurants. Will definitely go again either to eat in or takeaway.

We dined when in York for Ebore races. Restaurant was quite busy but staff were attentive. Menu was quite short but long enough. Starters were very good. Main courses were slightly different from normal. One was nice the other not so (heavy taste of aniseed which was listed in the ingredients but heavier than I thought). In saying that it was still a nice meal so no reason to suggest it isn't worth a visit.

An absolute gem. Food probably the best Indian we have ever tasted. Presented beautifully. Staff lovely. Met the chef. Whether in York or the vicinity, well worth a visit. Don't miss it.

We had a great birthday dinner at the Coconut Lagoon and really enjoyed the lovely food and the good service! Apparently something had gone wrong with the reservation, as they had only received a reservation for 6 people, and not for 12 - but the staff was very accommodating, solved the issue quickly and put a few tables together so that we could all sit at the same table!

Fantastic food but the service a little slow. They had interesting flavor combinations and the Pink Elephant wine was excellent. Good value for money overall.

Very nice food, good spices and flavours in every dish. Slightly slow service but the staff were really friendly. Great seafood dishes too, very different from your average curry house.

The restaurant was recommended to me by a friend I trusted, and my trust was vindicated. The dining area was well laid out and we didn't feel crowded even though it was busy. The food was excellent and freshly cooked, and the staff courteous and friendly.

Excellent food, friendly helpful staff, would recommend, different to a standard Indian restaurant, much more flavour and unusual choices, cardamom beer was fantastic too and went well with the food.we will definitely bs back

Food generally good. Service quite abysmally slow - maitre d tried to make up by offered free drinks but some v bad delays - particularly when serving starters. Took over an hour to appear and then all served separately so last starter came 20 minutes after others.

Beautiful food, very reasonable prices- especially for York. Would definitely recommend. Whilst we were there some old regulars were visiting so it is obviously a place people return to time and time again :)

We've visited here a few times and the food is always excellent. Some of the dishes I've not seen in other Indian restaurants before, so if we have friends visiting York bring them here.

The food the atmosphere and the service were all excellent we will certainly be revisiting . the staff are very knowledgeable about the food and were able to assist in our choices

The service was poor and the food that came was incorrect and slow to reach the table. The toilets were very gross. I would not eat here again.

Food was good but service was terrible. We waited around an hour for our main meals and so did a number of other tables. And we had to harass the staff to get this. Very Manuelish!!

It was good to try different Indian food Great vegitarian choices the dosa was particularly good staff were helpful in suggesting dishes to suit our tastes & the chef came to ask how we had enjoyed our food Will definitely visit again
