Côte Chester

Very good value set price menu. Delicious. Service adequate. Annoyed to find after leaving that we'd paid an inclusive high service charge. Would prefer to pay by choice and amount I deem suitable at the time.

I picked Cotes Brasserie after reading several excellent reviews on Trip Advisor and we weren't disappointed. I originally booked a table for 5.00pm but the play we were seeing was late finishing so I rang the restaurant to explain that we would be a little late - not a problem. When we arrived, we were shown upstairs to a spacious dining area and ushered into a booth and offered drinks - our waiter was fabulous, very friendly and accommodating, recommending drinks and food. Unfortunately, I didn't get his name. He recommended the fougasse to start and it was as delicious as he said it would be - soft and fluffy, garlicky, buttery and herby. After this, we had 3 items off the lighter mains part of the menu - a tuna Nicoise, a chicken & walnut salad and risotto vert - and also the 1/2 Breton chicken with frites and french beans. All the food was delicious - clean plates all round! With a little room left, we all had desserts and coffee. With a few drinks, the total bill for 4 of us came to £122 - this included a 12% gratuity, which is of course discretionary. However, the wait staff had more earned it so we were happy to leave it on the bill. We thought this constituted great value, given what we had eaten and the service we had received. Thank you Cotes Brasserie - we will be back.

Had lovely meal. .had chicken liver pate with toasted brioche followed by cod gougons and frites..my husband had tuna capacious then haddock which was little salty but still nice

Beautiful concept complimented by top draw service and food. Realistically priced with set menu at £10.95 before 7pm. It's sublime!! The food is predominantly Frech themed, as you'd expect so don't expect a Pizza

Food and service excellent, enjoyed atmosphere. Good value for quality food, and we have booked again. Have given 6 stars. Can't say more than that.

A great place with good food, will definately return. Next time will try to be a bit more adventurous with menu choices even though a few dishes on the menu seemed a little over-priced

We love Cote, the staff are friendly and helpful and the food is delicious, especially recommended is the Tuna Nicoise Salad...the best!! We have been to Chester and Exeter Cote and the ambience in both is just right!!

Lovely setting, lovely food, lovely staff, what more could you ask for. The only negative was the service charge, it was voluntary and so we ignored it & left our own tip

As always great food at a good price. Lovely staff and very relaxed atmosphere. My friend and I were left to chat as long as we wanted to which was great.

Good service,nice food...pleasant environment,friendly staff,well organised place especially on race day as it was full...well worth a visit....booked online otherwise you'd have no chance on race day..

Excellent menue, great cooking and flavours, pleasant service made for an enjoyable dining-out experience. Our favourite venue during the week especially, as the lunchtime menu offers especially good value.

Amazing food, friendly and professional staff that had a good knowledge of wine menu. Having visited 3 different cote restaurants, every one has been excellent. Can't rate highly enough - our favourite place to eat!

We were welcomed straight away the staff were courteous and professional the food and drinks was excellent. The restaurant is lovely and in a great location.

Very good food. Would advise ordering sides of vegetables with the mains. Fixed price menu is good value for money. Friendly, attentive staff. Will definitely return.

Stopped by tonight for an early evening meal. Service, food and presentation were all excellent as usual and competitively priced. Dined here many times and never disappointed.

Food was decent without being great. 12.5% gratuity added to bill - supposedly voluntary but no mention made when paying. Won't be going back for that reason, there are better places to eat too.

Had two course lunch which was excellent value. Well cooked and good service. Restaurant was very busy so really pleased with the overall experience. Well worth a visit.

Excellent service - experience only slightly spoilt by one of our main courses coming a long time after the others and being a bit under-par. Otherwise, lovely food and wine and really great staff. They knocked the late meal off the bill too so good customer service. I would go back.

First visit - thanks to gift cards! Food excellent, service very courteous and surroundings great. Just one niggle, it is better to leave gratuities to the customers discretion rather than expecting the customer to ask for it to be reduced if the 12.5% added was thought to be somewhat excessive (or not sufficient). This aspect we found unsatisfactory and will have an impact on our decision on future visits.

Great food and service, never fails to impress. Fantastic to have staff who have the knowledge of what gluten free actually means especially for those of us who are coeliac as eating out can be a 'risk' but not in Cote. It would be lovely to see a gluten free childrens menu so many venues forget there are thousands of children who are coeliacs (my son included) and they want to eat similar food to others if you are eating out as a group.

Lovely restaurant with a great ambience. We chose the 3 course fixed price menu, several options to choose from and all the food we selected was delicious. The staff were courteous throuout the evening and ensured we had a pleasant time celebrating our wedding anniversary.

Slight mistake in bringing the excellent prawns starter before we had finished the sourdough & olives. Otherwise the service & food was excellent. Arrived on Chester Races day, but totally looked after with a first class table to avoid the exuberant racegoers upstairs. A kind though & an act that will bring us back. Thank you.

Lovely place to eat. Been wanting to try since you guys opened and was not disappointed! Had crab mayo to start, pork belly and choc fondant. All very good. Will be returning with family soon :))

Great experience, staff perfect and food just to die for. Best steak in the area, the Resturant atmosphere is very good well decorated and nice spacing between tables.

Great service and a really nice setting in an historic building within the city walls as part of the rows. The food was good as always.

First time at this wonderful new restaurant in Chester. A Friday eve with friends visiting from Altrincham. They were delighted when I mentioned where we were Dining . We had excellent service, delicious food, and a lovely evening I would highly recommend.

Faultless. Absolutely brilliant food and service. My dad asked for a certain drink but they didn't have it. So the waiter went out of his way to source it from elsewhere. It was a lovely meal. Such friendly service. Will be recommending to friends.

Cotes Chester is a lovely restaurant. We teceived fantastic service and care. The food was great food and we enjoyed the quite ant intimate atmosphere.

Excellent service in a very well located restaurant in the centre of Chester. We were shown to our table promptly and the order taken and food served at a good pace. Food was well prepared and hot.

A good experience - nice atmosphere and attentive but not intrusive staff, though it was a little hard to get attention when we wanted to pay !

We had a enjoyable birthday celebration. The device was impeccable and the food was great too, clearly as all the plates were clean. Definitely returning here, hopefully soon!

Everything excellent. The staff were friendly, but not pushy. The lovely welcome Kir Royal was super. Food very good and a good price too. Super!!
