Been here a couple of times to meet friends. Always very good food and excellent service. Highly recommend this restaurant and cote restaurants in general

Lunch at Cote was the perfect tonic for two weary Christmas shoppers. But, despite the Christmas rush, this was not an excuse for the staff to relax standards. Our meal was delicious and served with the usual charm and efficiency one has come to expect at Cote. We'll be back!

The food was excellent, service lovely, though the staff were a bit pushed they did a great job. A great way to spend Christmas Eve.

Steak Rapide very good value and always delicious. Had to wait a bit longer than normal as the restaurant had a power cut but they coped admirably.

Lovely food and very helpful and friendly staff. We were very early for our reservation but were shown to our table straight away. The fish parmentier was delicious.

Lovely food. Shame about the ambiance. Few Christmas trimmings, poor music and no crackers! But...lovely food. Shame....disappointing. Service was ok, but no reference to Christmas either, quite bizarre actually seeing as it was Christmas eve!!!! But like I said, I couldn't fault the food.

Restaurant staff were very pleasant and very informative about the short power cut. Food was very good. Just one observation the toilets need more attention.

Cote Newbury. Always good. I changed table booking time at the last minute, nothing is too much trouble. Nice table by the window. Superb food. Good service if a little slow, but that was explained. Staff always excellent. Problem...stops me from trying a different restaurant. Love the breakfast too.

Excellent service, I booked for 2 but they squeezed one more in and they were very busy. Delicious lunch as always and such quick service

That the food is reliably good at Cote is a given, but it's those little details that make a difference. A while after placing our order, our waitress returned to confess that she had omitted to immediately place the order with the kitchen. She had corrected this, but apologised for any delay that might occur in the arrival of our dishes. A few minutes later our food arrived together with another apology. That's service, - and the reason we return again and again to Cote

Always good quality food and choice. The staff don’t always appear to be enjoying their job, but they are polite and the service is timely and effective.

Food and service excellent. Will definitely go there again. Restaurant was busy but we were served quickly and nothing seemed to much trouble. Even when we ordered an extra dessert ages after the others were ordered.

Good service and excellent food, especially as my friend is coeliac. We always feel confident eating at Cote as they take gluten free seriously and have an extensive menu.

As usual we had a very enjoyable lunch. Good food and good service, reasonable prices. You get the same experience whichever Cote you visit and the small menus change every month.

Great central location, very convenient for an early meal prior to seeing a show or film. Good food, served quickly. The salmon was perfectly cooked. There was a problem with the wine which was changed promptly when we complained.

Excellent service, courteous polite staff and food was lovely, as always. Keep forgetting our free drink though, which I receive via e-mail but fail to present when we arrive! Thanks, Phil

Very busy with Christmas parties as expected but seated on time and service was still great. Food as always - great!! Highly recommended. We will definitely be back.

Food ok. Poor service. Two rude waitresses who didn’t really want to be there. One of them even said I would rather be at home....

Another enjoyable visit. Warm atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu is varied and the lunchtime specials offer good value for money. Look forward to our next visit.

I visit Cote regularly and have never been disappointed. I have taken many friends there, many of whom have never been to a Cote restaurant before. They are always impressed by the quality of the food and the friendly service.

Food as usual was excellent and staff were very friendly and helpful. The only problem was that on a very busy Wednesday lunch time with a full restaurant my party of four felt a little neglected. This may have been because we were seated a little out of the way. But once our orders were taken the food came quickly and hot

Good response to internet booking. Despite busy evening good welcome, quick and courteous service. Food of good quality and value for money, served reasonably quickly. Will come again.

Great food, great staff, lovely atmosphere! Always come here when in the area, never disappoints! In a prominent position on the main street, it's ideal for meeting friends!

The food was delicious, the price reasonable and the service friendly. What more could one want? The evening made a great start to the weekend.

Lovely food, attentive staff staff. Absolutely love this restaurant the best in Newbury 😊 But if there is one thing I would have a negative on it’s the toilets, really could do with a refurb and a cleaning rota because they were pretty discusting tonight .

We have eaten here many times before and usually it’s been very good. On this occasion it was not so good. It was early for lunch -12.15- and at that time it was pretty empty. We waited almost 30 minutes for our food and as the restaurant filled up people arriving after us were being served. This felt as if we’d been forgotten. When it did eventually arrive it was fine but it didn’t really make up for the long wait. This was very unusual as previously the service has always been very good even when it’s been busy.

GREAT LUNCH TIME MEAL. AND GOOD SERVICE.. to the chef, my wife and I had the same lunch time meal [ £13. and some.] the fish dish was a bit oily and a bit bland. needs livening up taste wise. AN OBSERVATION;; THE GUY BRINGING OUT THE HOT FOOD, WAS HAVING TO WAIT FOR A WAITRESS / WAITOR TO SERVE CUSTOMERS. not good as the plates are not heated and food gets colder very quickly. this happened a lot of times; WHY IS IT YOU DONT SERVE ON HOT PLATES. not many restaurants do these days, and that helps spoil a dish.

Had early evening meal with friends, chose from set course meal Prestige menu, French onion soup, Breton chicken and finished with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce, Others in our party chose other meals but all was excellent, good service friendly waiters . Nice house wine.

Great atmoshere. Great service & excellent food. Cant wait til next time. Staff always friendly. Its was a freezing night but lovely and warm to walk into.

We were there for lunch.The food was excellent as was the service. We all had the sea bass and mussels which was divine. The surroundings are tasteful. Very reasonably priced too.

Early lunch for us today. We received a warm welcome from the staff. The restaurant quickly filled up around one o'clock, which provided a lively atmosphere for a Monday. The lunchtime specials provided a good selection of choices, and value for money. Look forward to our next visit.

Slightly disappointed that my first two choices off of the A La Carte menu were not available (informed of first choice not being available three or four minutes after placing order) and my third choice arrived several minutes later than the meals of others in my party of five (as did my son's which did not need changing). As a result food was lukewarm at best. Obviously a mix up due to having to change the order.Not up to usual standards I'm afraid.

Yet another great breakfast here, served quickly and professionally by the lovely staff. Food piping hot and delicious. In and out in under forty five minutes, perfect.

Well presented and easy menu. Very friendly staff and not 'too attentive'! Nice atmosphere and most customers seem to be enjoying the experience of dining at the Cotes. We had reserved a table for four people for 12 noon and the restaurant soon filled - so, good idea to book in advance.

As usual, the team were really efficient from start to finish and the restaurant was buzzing. The food was delicious and it made for a fun and relaxing night out! Highly recommended

Good friendly service from pleasant staff. My friend and I only had one course, and we both chose the pancakes which were delicious. Pleasant surroundings.

Lovely lunch with my husband. The food and service were superb as usual. I had boeuf bourguignon and my husband had fish parmentier. Both dishes were flavoursome and hot! Highly recommended.

Always consistent; great food with great service. From reception at the door through to paying your bill, Cote staff are always welcoming and friendly. Really enjoyed my cassoulet.

Great meal, good food, excellent service, friendly staff and a pleasant ambiance all for a reasonable price! We eat their regularly and only been disappointed once (and that was for slow service on a particularly bad night) apart from that - consistently good.

Smashing. Lunch with a couple of girlfriends to celebrate my Birthday, and the experience couldn't have been nicer. Perfect venue - a warm welcome, charming, swift, non-intrusive service and delicious food. Thank you Cote!
