Côte Newcastle

We have always enjoyed eating in branches of Cote when visiting London - especially the one in Blackheath where our daughter was a regular customer! So we were delighted when the Newcastle branch opened - if only there were another one in Ponteland where we live! The restaurant is beautifully laid out with comfortable and well spaced tables and attracts customers of all ages which is a nice change, as older people are less well catered for in the city centre! The food last night was excellent and mains portions were generous. Service also good. Fairly expensive, but worth it. We had a lovely evening, once again justifying our faith in the Cote "brand". I absolutely love the Newcastle Cote. The food is superb and the staff are wonderful - today was a bit of a stressful day for me and their pleasant manner and calm happy demeanour made me feel altogether better. The free cocktail offer didn’t hurt either 😍

First visit and very impressed. Food was elegant and tasty with the emphasis on flavour. All in a relaxed setting with good service. Merci beaucoup!

Disappointing as first visit here. Food service very poor and average food. Main course served without all sides which we had to ask for and took nearly 10 minutes to bring out. One main course barely luke warm when first served so had to send it back. Again took almost 10 minutes to return main course and still wasn’t really hot. Coffees served just before deserts despite asking for them to be served afterwards.

Fantastic service, menu offered lots of choice, quality of the food was great and a lovely atmosphere. Thank you for a great evening, would highly recommend

Good restaurant - but although the food is good - the portions are very small - we left the restaurant wanting more! We had house wine which was good. Also the staff are friendly but a bit too much -if anything was wrong I would tell them - don't appreciate being interrupted mid meal to ask if it's ok

I went there with my daughter and we really enjoyed the experience Lovely friendly staff. The Food was excellent and the ambiance was perfect. Definitely worth a visit

Service was timely and unobtrusive. My guest and I could enjoy a leisurely reunion. The food we had was fine. The fougasse I had was much more authentic than your alleged pissaladiere which bears scant resemblance to that which I’ve often enjoyed in Nice We enjoyed the lunch and the experience. The building and surroundings impressed my lunch guest who is based in the south.More impressive say than Côte in Richmond (Surrey)

The table we booked was ready for us at the booked time. Our orders were taken promptly, and executed in around 25 minutes for main courses. We were on our way to the matinee at the nearby Theatre Royal, and had plenty time for a very nice coffee after.

Superb food as always will suit all pockets. Third visit each one exceptional. Good variety and excellent deals for 2/3 courses too. Will be back

Lovely restaurant in a prime central Newcastle position. We were there on a Sunday evening for a birthday celebration and it was our first visit. We all agreed that we loved it & would definitely go again ! The restaurant was quiet but pleasantly busy for an early evening.

Excellent food and service . We will definitely return. Works very well pre theatre and very good value for money especially with the early evening menu.

Excellent breakfast. All food was cooked perfectly and well presented . This must be the fifth different Cote we have visited and each one of them has brilliant staff who are pleasant and friendly.

As ever, a great choice for dinner. Good/wide range of food, well-presented & cmpetitively priced, buzzy atmosphere. Can't fault it, and will definitely be back soon

Served brown lettuce. When the main course came I ordered steak which came with sauce the sauce pot was empty and it took five minutes to get the sauce.

Food is very reasonably priced, even when ordering from the a la carte menu instead of the prix fixe. Gluten free options were beyond any expectations and absolutely delicious. We asked to move tables and this was accommodated immediately and with no fuss. The Fleurie was absolutely delicious, and the service was impeccable - attentive but never overbearing. Would 10/10 recommend and will definitely be returning.

We had a very enjoyable meal. Waiting staff were very attentive but perhaps a bit rushed.

Staff friendly and attentive without being overbearing Good menu with a good range of choice

Lovely food, good choice on the lunchtime specials menu, realistically priced. Clean comfortable dining area. Waiters/waitress a bit dour, a smile would have been nice, they were quite abrupt.

Your service was rubbish. We booked in advance but still had to wait some time to be seated. There was absolutely no eye contact from any of the staff only when he eventually came to take or order was any interaction. It appeared to us that the staff were totally disinterested in the customers. The meal was served, then the desert with not a single word from the server. If we had wanted a coffee, I believe we would have still be waiting! Also, why serve hot food on cold plates?

Excellent food. We were a party of 4 and everyone agreed , excellent food and nice staff, we will be back. Look forward to our next visit soon.

First time at Cote but definitely not the last the service was great and the food even better, lovely atmosphere and just the right amount of attention for the staff.

I took my friend to Côte Brasserie for her 30th birthday and asked for a nice Happy Birthday message on her dessert plate. Not only did they do that, but they stuck a candle in the dessert and gave us the desserts for free. It was lovely and added something special to our day.

As always, the quality of food & service is head & shoulders above other restaurants of a similar price. Much better steaks than elsewhere. Wine list is very good.

I've eaten better steak in Weatherspoons and the (OPTIONAL)12.5% service charge,over £10 on our bill is unacceptable.You are blackmailed into paying it as you do not want to be embarrassed by querying it.(This is regardless of the service you received).

Service fantastic. French onion soup superb. Bread could have been a little more fresh. Prawns a little chewy in starter. Lamb fantastic. Creme caramel the best I’ve ever had. Lovely ambience. Will be back.

Best gluten free menu I’ve ever seen! There was so much choice and I didn’t feel like a nuisance for once. Every restaurant could learn something about special dietary requirements from Cote Brasserie. Thank you

The staff were too busy faffing around at their tills when we were trying to get their attention to remind them that they hadn’t brought over the mustard we asked for. His steak was cold by the time 5 mins or so passed for the two members of staff we asked to bring it out. My partners steak was also cooked through despite him being warned it would be served rare and him specifically asking for it to be served rare. We ordered more chips just as we finished our food and waited what felt like Avery long time for them to be served. Great company and I enjoyed my Fish Parmentier, however compared to your other branches our lunch today was a let down due to your staff inattentiveness. We were also charged a service charge. Maybe it should be optional then the staff might take more notice?
