Côte York

A thoroughly enjoyable evening. Giuseppe was the perfect host, attentive but not obtrusive. My first visit but I will come again next time I visit York.

This was our second visit to a 'Cote Brasserie', the first being in Covent Garden. We had a very enjoyable meal in London and our experience in York was also excellent. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the menu gave a very varied choice. The meal was excellent and red wine superb. We will most certainly go again.

Went for the St Valentines special menu, there was a good choice and the quality of food was excellent. As good as Michelin but better value and good sized portions. The staff were very friendly and attentive; one of my favourite restaurants in York!

Staff are great - friendly, hardworking and knowledgeable. Food is consistently good. Lively atmosphere. Food is reasonably priced. All in all, one of the best eating places in York.

The one line booking system enabled me to book a table in minutes and with an offer of a free cocktail for all guests. When we arrived we had a choice of tables and received excellent service throughout the evening. The food was excellent and reasonably priced.

We had to ask a couple of times for the same thing- waiter was very pleasant but then went away and forgot items , it wasn't busy a period - food lovely as always

Once again a really lovely dining experience at Cote in York today. The food was superbly presented and tasted sublime. Service was impeccable courtesy of Giuseppe who looked after us so well. Many thanks. We will be back very soon.

Our visit to Cote was enjoyable as always. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is consistently good. We were taking advantage of the complimentary gin and tonic offer for March, which was an added bonus.

A super champagne brunch to celebrate Mother's Day. Such lovely staff and very efficient too. Food was fabulous as usual. Thank you Cote, always a happy experience.

I was overcharged by the inclusion of 4 Kir Royales in the bill, which were actually free on a SAGA promotion. I went to the restaurant this morning and I was promptly refunded with cash and an apology. But it should not have happened. Something wrong with your systems? Geoff Crome

Great service and food. Restaurant is bigger than you think from the front. Menu had plenty of choice and had a great GF menu! Really enjoyed our meal.

Excellent as always, we always have a fantastic meal and time. Food is brilliant, staff are very friendly, atmosphere is lovely. We have gone every year for our anniversary tonight was our 6th year together. We always go for special occasions. Cant fault it.

Excellent food with excellent service. Two adults and two children under five looked after. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a meal in York city centre.

We sat in the back room and the restaurant was quiet . I feel we could have had a table nearer the front which was busier. It did not stop us enjoying ourselves .

Excellent choice and the set menu is certainly value for money. We brought my 80 year old mother who really enjoyed this French restaurant and insisted on paying. Who am I to disagree with that choice!

Great tasty food but very slow service. Took 1.5 hours to get the starters then another 45 mins to 1 hour to receive the main after. Didn’t bother with desserts as took too long - we guessed there was an issue / delay in the kitchen.

Good quality food, value for money. Nice atmosphere and for a Saturday with so many people the service was running smoothly. Definitely would visit again soon.

Excellent food, great service, stylish and comfortable surroundings and really good value. We had a fabulous breakfast here with our friends who were visiting York. A first class experience.

Lovely venue in a large building always manage to get table. Staff friendly & welcoming. I was disappointed with my food, crab & advocado starter had far too much onion which over powered the dish. I had risotto for main which was over cooked & had no taste with half a bag of rocket on top. 3 of us had the Creme brûlée desert was the best part but, it was burnt. Saying that, we were given a complimentary kir royal as it was my friend’s birthday & the service & venue are great. It must’ve been a bad night for the chef!

Not a good day for Cote. The caramelised bread was overcooked and overpriced . A new chef couldn't cope with making a batter without eggs for the two year old with egg allergy fish gougons ( this has been achieved in past visits tomCote) . The food was very late coming out for the children . Fortunately the member of staff noted this and arranged free drinks . Then we had futher to wait for the rissotto! The member of staff was extremely nice and apologetic BUT what she didn't know was that it was my daughter's birthday and i felt it was spoiled by a less than average experience. Sorry Cote York this was not a good day ! I have eaten at many Cotes in London , Cardiff , Harrogate, Leeds and many times at York. What went wrong?

Excellent food and atmosphere ... went for mother’s day ... mum had a lovely day thank you to all the staff. We will certainly be coming back.

Easy to book online, good food (and broad menu choice) with friendly efficient service. Catered for a party of eight with aplomb. Recommended by all of us.

Very good food. Service was quite slow on the day, but the way I was treated later in the week made up for it. I had left my scarf by mistake; I called the next day then returned later in the week to collect it. I spoke to the duty manager about the evening I visited and he could not have been more helpful. I will certainly go back again

We are regular Cote customers. The quality of the food and the standard of service is excellent and easily beats the competition, even the relatively recent addition of The Ivy. We partcularly like the monthly changing set menus and specials.

Centrally located. Relaxed vibe. Attentive and appropriately friendly staff. Great tasting food with well-balanced flavour combinations. Plan to return. Happy to recommend to couples or groups.

Food was great , restaurant was full and good atmosphere , then it emptied quickly around 750 ish Service was very slow between courses which deflected the food experience which was good We will come for another try but we will be wary this time

Excellent food, staff, and atmosphere. Go-to place to eat when in York, always an excellent selection of food making choices very difficult. Don't forget to check the specials, and blood Orange martini is an excellent aperitif

Great experience overall - from the greeting at the door right through to settling the bill. Food was outstanding - we ordered from the set menu and were not disappointed at all. My steak was excellent and the Bereton Tomato starter was exceptionally tasty.

Lovely calm clean surroundings with pleasant courteous staff who were keen to help. A great venue to meet up with friends and have a relaxed meal. Perfect for pre theatre meal.

I am french and I can tell you that I loved this meal, it reminded me home. I advice this restaurant for everyone, including french people, you will not be desappointed.

Very nice experience. Good honest food and very nice staff, our children 6 and 8 years old loved it so did me and my husband. A good family meal.

Green beans were hardly cooked and were sent back but took so long just cancelled them. Chicken was v greasy Have been quite a few times and its been ok but not going again
