Côte York

The ambience of the Cote was great. The staff were very helpful and polite. When a waiter accidentally spilt some drinks, the attention to detail in the clean-up situation was perfect. The food was superb, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. We were celebrating my 80th birthday and the whole place joined in to sing and offer best wishes. A memorable evening - you should try it especially for an important event. Graham

As usual a great night at Cote . I asked for a table in the front section, much to our delight we were sat by the window ( people watching) fab !!

Always have great food and excellent service whatever the time of day, we have been for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the service is always attentive and nothing to much trouble, with a smiling server

Can always rely on Cote, despite it being a 'chain'. Was a bit quiet and lacking in atmosphere being a Wednesday night in March but it still 'delivered'. The ribeye steak I had was excellent.

Good service and food in a lively but not too noisy atmosphere. Only down point is that a 12.5% service charge is automatically included in the bill. I'd rather choose how much I'm going to tip and for that money to go direct to the waiting staff and chefs.

Great staff, no request was too much. The food tasted great. The service was quick and efficient. Great variety on the menu. Definitely will be returning!

We love Cote. The food is excellent and always really tasty. Good choice of menus and we like the monthly specials- February was particularly good. Very good service and lovely, friendly staff.

A wet afternoon in March but the welcome was warm, the food as usual was delicious and the service was second to none. Always look forward to eating here and have never been disappointed yet.

Our table of seven really enjoyed the tasty food and wine. The service and attention was unobtrusive but always looking after us,thanks for a good evening.

Great environment, exceptional service, and great food. We all had the swordfish steak, which was delicious with one exception - mine was a little thinner than the other two and as a result slightly overcooked. However, the whole experience was great and I would highly recommend this restaurant.

5 star destination. Delicious food with an excellent choice from well priced set menus, wonderful staff who are unfailingly friendly and polite. A great experience every time.

Not too happy at seeing cutlery dropped on the floor, picked up and put straight onto a table (not ours). The Savoy cabbage with the belly pork was rather sorry for itself. I find the concept of an ‘optional’ gratuity that is added automatically rather odd, to say the least. Overall, rather uninspiring, if competent.

Food was fine as was the complimentary gin and tonic. Service however was very poor, so much so we removed the service charge. We were told we couldn’t have the set menu with the g nt. Not apparent on the email but not a problem however the manner in which it was said was rather rude. Staff were far more interested in chatting to each other (and more!) than serving us. We cut our losses after our main course and went to Bills for pudding. Could not recommend.

Very busy on the night we visited (9/2) but staff apologised quickly for slight delays in service. Fish Parmentier was OK, but the mash topping had suffered from an over-watery sauce, making it a little soggy.

Very friendly staff coupled with a terrific 3 course meal made for a very enjoyable night. Most of the menu was available in Gluten Free options as well

Good but could be better. Too many staff talking to each other rather than the customer. 6 staff and 4 customers we’re present. Also I don’t like the 12.5 tip. I hate it!

Lovely food - chef catered to my dietary needs - ketogenic way of eating - with no problems. I am happy to highly recommend this restaurant and all the staff who work there. Thank you for a lovely meal which was well prepared and well presented in a friendly but professional manner.

A very good Valentines menu meal with well chosen wine pairings. A good range of choices for each course and the small desert sharing plate was first class. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Only the habit of automatic adding of a service charge is an enduring irritation at Cote. You can’t even ask for it to be removed when you ask for the bill as you have to do so after the bill has arrived which is uncomfortable for both customers and staff. Please stop it Cote !

Excellent food, service and ambience. One slight hiccup dealt with very professionally - we didn’t even need to raise it with the team. Our first visit to this Cote, just as good as the first in Cirencester. Good to see a chain where the high standards are maintained across different locations.

Excellent food in a nice atmosphere at a reasonable price

Always a great eating experience, staff are attentive and professional and venue is central. We were fortunate to be seated in the window so had Saturday evening entertainment too!!

We had a very nice lunch, the only drawback was the fact that the drink offer was only available if you had a Main from the menu. My friends like a starter and a main, this is too much for me so I normally have a starter followed by a starter. This barred m e from the offer. Strangely if I had just had a Main or Light Main without a Starter I would have qualified, even though this would have been cheaper than my two starters! As my friends had cards which qualified us for a free drink, with or without a Main, we used that optio, and I had my Starter followed by another Starter. Perhaps you would would look into this for future monthly offers.

Excellent service by friendly, responsive staff. Food tasty and of very good quality, portions of average size for set menus. A very good experience without being brilliant.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and the food was delicious , but then we always do and it always is !!!

Very low key atmosphere on entering, greeting polite but not particularly welcoming, so a little disappointing. We have visited several different branches of Cote, and usually the atmosphere is enthusiastic and very friendly, Food, as always was delicious, can’t fault it. Service was timely, and courteous.

Service was slow. One staff member seemed to be rushing about trying to cover too many things. French onion soup not pleasant. Quite expensive overall relative to quality provided.

Great food beautifully presented, great team, excellent service, always made to feel welcome. We'll be back very shortly.

The staff were lovely and really friendly. I had the chocolate fondant for dessert and it was, hands down, the best one I have had (and I have had quite a few). Would definitely be back here in the near future

Exceptional service, consistently great food within a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. It’s always a pleasure to dine at our local York restaurant, and we do as often as we can!

We had a lovely leisurely breakfast this morning with our friends, we all thoroughly enjoyed it as always! It was the usual great service and quality food as you expect from Cote, we will be back!

Food was excellent as were the staff, but I think they were understaffed during our visit as service was a little slow in particular when wanting to request drinks. Would definitely recommend and go again though

Perfect Mothers day dinner. Attentive staff, relaxed atmosphere. Food was excellent. Cote is an excellent restaurant as everytime we visit the standards never slip, you know what to expect and nothing is to much trouble.

We went for my birthday we were not disappointed! Excellent meal as usual, the food was delicious, lovely friendly staff and beautiful G&T! Can highly recommend for lunch and dinner.

Second time here and food was delicious again. Waiters were very professional. Complimentary Kir Royale on arrival for our anniversary. Female Manager was patronising.

This was our first visit to this particular Cote Brasserie - so we thought we knew what to expect. There were insufficient staff and the service was slow, although the staff appeared to be hard pressed. Having booked for four people to dine at mid-day we did not expect this - the restaurant was quiet when we arrived but filled up soon after. A tonic water had to be asked for as the wine had arrived but not the tonic. When it arrived there was ice in it although ice had been declined when the order was placed. The wine bottle was placed in a cooler nearby but we had to retrieve it ourselves as nobody came to offer any top ups. The food, as usual, was of good quality. It was a pity that the service standard fell short of other Cote Brasseries that we have used. I did comment on this and was advised that they had not expected the numbers (half term maybe) and had no bookings - although we had, indeed, booked.

Good food, great service, lovely atmosphere all made for a wonderful evening celebration. We look forward to our next visit.

Lovely meal and excellent service. We usually use Cote at Covent Garden when we visit and it’s also excellent.

Calamari over cooked and so was the fish pie? Not sure about returning

Good overall experience. 2 negative points - *had to ask for set lunch menus *no bread given at the start of the meal.
