Visited on a Tuesday and found the usual high standard of service. Efficient & unobtrusive. Food was excellent and a very nice evening was had by all.

Not too happy at seeing cutlery dropped on the floor, picked up and put straight onto a table (not ours). The Savoy cabbage with the belly pork was rather sorry for itself. I find the concept of an ‘optional’ gratuity that is added automatically rather odd, to say the least. Overall, rather uninspiring, if competent.

Very busy on the night we visited (9/2) but staff apologised quickly for slight delays in service. Fish Parmentier was OK, but the mash topping had suffered from an over-watery sauce, making it a little soggy.

A very good Valentines menu meal with well chosen wine pairings. A good range of choices for each course and the small desert sharing plate was first class. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Only the habit of automatic adding of a service charge is an enduring irritation at Cote. You can’t even ask for it to be removed when you ask for the bill as you have to do so after the bill has arrived which is uncomfortable for both customers and staff. Please stop it Cote !

Excellent food in a nice atmosphere at a reasonable price

Both my husband and myself enjoyed our meals. The only negative was the asparagus on my meal accompanying the lamb . Some people might not see this as a negative but I thought the time between courses was a bit too fast . If we had been given a little more time we probably would have had a pudding.

Very low key atmosphere on entering, greeting polite but not particularly welcoming, so a little disappointing. We have visited several different branches of Cote, and usually the atmosphere is enthusiastic and very friendly, Food, as always was delicious, can’t fault it. Service was timely, and courteous.

Unfortunatly no scallops left but otherwise excellent as always. The suggested wine match was superb.

I was overcharged by the inclusion of 4 Kir Royales in the bill, which were actually free on a SAGA promotion. I went to the restaurant this morning and I was promptly refunded with cash and an apology. But it should not have happened. Something wrong with your systems? Geoff Crome

Excellent as always, we always have a fantastic meal and time. Food is brilliant, staff are very friendly, atmosphere is lovely. We have gone every year for our anniversary tonight was our 6th year together. We always go for special occasions. Cant fault it.

Very good food. Service was quite slow on the day, but the way I was treated later in the week made up for it. I had left my scarf by mistake; I called the next day then returned later in the week to collect it. I spoke to the duty manager about the evening I visited and he could not have been more helpful. I will certainly go back again

Food was great , restaurant was full and good atmosphere , then it emptied quickly around 750 ish Service was very slow between courses which deflected the food experience which was good We will come for another try but we will be wary this time

Excellent food, staff, and atmosphere. Go-to place to eat when in York, always an excellent selection of food making choices very difficult. Don't forget to check the specials, and blood Orange martini is an excellent aperitif

I am french and I can tell you that I loved this meal, it reminded me home. I advice this restaurant for everyone, including french people, you will not be desappointed.

Fab food, we all selected the lunchtime special menu and were very happy with our choices. Mussels and ribeye steak for a £2.50 extra charge - Staff were super!

Very efficient service especially from a young man who was obviously new to serving. So pleasant and brought everything we asked for. Food was delicious. Only star missing was due to very small children a couple of tables away being rather noisy. (Sorry very selfish of me). Unfortunately we had a lady with us who was a little deaf and the noise was a bit disruptive for her.
