Cru Eastbourne

My review is somewhat unusual in that it doesn't involve the food. My husband and I visited last night and almost immediately I felt unwell. I went outside to get some fresh air but almost immediately was violently sick (an allergic reaction to something I had eaten shortly before arriving at Cru). One of the waitresses was absolutely wonderful, could not have been more caring or attentive. My heartfelt thanks to her.

Great welcome coming into the restaurant. Friendly service throughout. Upper price range for Eastbourne, but nice atmosphere. Wine list was expansive, but by the glass it wasn’t particularly value for money, if you’re driving and only want one small glass rather than a bottle - might have been nice to see an ‘unknown’ brand/ type of wine on special to showcase it? Shrimp Po-boy sandwich was a bit disappointing; not really served on the best choice of bread...a standard French stick is not ideal. Perhaps needs something softer and less doughy, like a decent sub-roll to accompany delicate shrimp filling, might not absorb the sauce as much either. Cod and chips was tasty, and minute steak was good value for money. Definitely will return if the menu changes often, not extensive enough if not. Would recommend giving Cru a try if you’ve not been since it’s overhaul.

We had excellent food and beer with lovely ambience and friendly service. Although pricey, this place is perfect for a nice date night in Eastbourne.

We took our friend who is vegetarian for Sunday lunch. She had the nut roast which she said was the best she had ever tasted!! I had the lamb and my husband the chicken, both delicious and plenty of it! The accompanying vegetables were also yummy! Everything on the plate was piping hot and plentiful. The choice of wine went down well too. We were very satisfied customers.

Amazing food! We couldn’t fault anything we ate - it was brilliantly presented and everything was exceptionally tasty..! One of the best meals both my daughter and I had ever had. The service was great too and they were so helpful in helping me as I have to avoid onions which can be quite tricky. Great wine too! Having moved down to Eastbourne from London about a year and a half ago I just can’t believe that I’m so lucky to have found this gem on my doorstep but wonder how it took me this long!

Excellent food,excellent wine,and excellent service from start to finish.Highly recommended.Didnt know what wine to order as theres a vast amount,so the owner came over and pointed us in the right direction.Happy days.

Really good wine bar serving a fantastic roast dinner. Very good wine selection. Very happy cheerful professional staff. Can't recommend it highly enough. The best thing to have happened to Eastbourne.

On arrival we were shown to our table and the staff were very helpfull. The food and wine were excellent. The restuarant was very busy but the service we received was excellent. Definitely visit again and recommend it to friends

The best Sunday Roast! Generous portions with all the trimmings - delicious! You also get a free dessert when you order a starter and a roast. Can’t wait to go back again!

Had a great evening with friends. Buzzy atmosphere, good service and excellent food and wine. The wine list is comprehensive and not overpriced. Menu is fairly short but great selection of dishes with an option of tapas style or large plates. Second visit and did not disappoint.

Excellent and attentive service without being intrusive. Very good food and wine. Looking forward to returning. Some may find it small but it has an atmosphere that is warm and welcoming for the first time visitor. Totally recommended

Excellent food and lovely ambience. You don't often see swordfish on the menu and it was complimented with a tasty sauce. A little pricey but a great treat.

Wonderful ambiance, food was superb and an excellent selection of wines.. The scallops to start and the lamb was as good as it gets.Service was excellent too and would thoroughly recommend this fantastic restaurant.

Our first time at the restaurant & we shall definitely go again.When we arrived our servers had already assessed the menu regarding my food intolerances which were no problem at all.Delicious food and wine & great service!

A great find via a web search. Food was really delicious and wine excellent. Service was friendly and attentive. We got wine advice from the sommelier but it is not a pretentious place and we were happy to express our ignorance! I would definitely recommend this place.

Wonderful hidden gem of a restaurant, great hide away, great staff, fabulous food and wine and service was impeccable. Would not have expected to find such a funky little place hidden in Eastbourne.

Lovely atmosphere. Delicious meal but could do better on veggie options please. Desert - eton mess was simple but standout. And the wine list gave a great choice.

Third visit to CRU and as ever not disappointed- staff very hospitable ambience just right - red wine the right temperature and the white certainly hit the spot Didn’t have starter as made that mistake before so bread and oil followed by fish n chips and burger which left room for Eton mess! Overall ten out of ten!!!!!

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Only thing was due to the acoustic of the place, it was a bit noisy and difficult to carry out a conversation without raising one's voice. It shows it's a popular place. Nevertheless we had a good time.

Great little place. Now one of my favourites. The food was great and so was the wine. Also surprisingly a great little list of atisan beers.The staff were also great. The young lady who waited on us was soooooo sweet.

Probably the best restaurant for food and wine in Eastbourne! The service was excellent, the menu is interesting and the food superb. Good range of wine for all price brackets, staff also knowledgeable about wine, so don't hesitate to ask if you are not sure. A great experience all round - don't hesitate to try it out.

Simply brilliant. Great staff, especially the manager. Adjusted my order when I said I thought it was too small for a main and the burger is in my top five ever. Go!

We had such a fun time at Cru - the place is welcoming, staff is caring, the food was excellent and the wine, divine. One of the top addresses in Eastbourne.

Was a good place for a date and good was amazing. Friendly staff and the atmosphere was very good. Busy so would recommend to book before specially on a weekend.

Very friendly atmosphere, good service, well prepared food with some unusual variations on some more standard dishes. Excellent wine which was reasonably charged. A pleasant experience which we will definitely repeat!

The staff was fantastic and very knowledgable of the wine list. The price wasn’t that bad considering we had about 4 dishes. Our only issue was the portion sizes were a little bit on the small side.

Without doubt the best restaurant in Eastbourne. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, the food fantastic and the atmosphere soooo good. Their choice of wines and advice given encourages me to try wines i would not normally consider. Can't wait to go back again soon.

Nice & cozy place near the central part of Eastbourne. Staff was really friendly and helpful. As expected, there is a big selection of wines. Food was really nice. My recommendation would be the short rib and the baked goats cheese from the small plates - all increadibly yummy!

As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a smile. All of the staff were so friendly, the atmosphere was incredibly warm and relaxing, there was no rushing around. The menu is great, good selection of food, and it’s all fantastic. Such great textures and flavours, it’s easily the best restaurant in Eastbourne. We will be returning, I can’t fault them for anything.

Excellent food and great service, with a very friendly atmosphere. We went here for Mother's Day and 'mum' was given a complimentary glass of Prosecco on arrival, highly recommended!
