First time visiting.. Quirky restaurant with lovely food! Will definitely be going back.

I have been to this restaurant about 4 times now and had great food at each visit. This time we tried the Sunday roast which was fab. My partner (a meat eater) loves it here too.

food and atmosphere great as always! however his starter came out, then my main, then my starter and then his main...was a little awkward.

Great food options - burgers very tasty and gravy with deep fried broccoli absolutely delicious. Tasty cocktails and friendly service. Just not keen on food coming out at different times.

Down the Hatch is a Veggie/Vegan junk food reataurant, we are not vegetarian or Vegan and very rarely eat dishes let alone an entire meal not containing meat but Down the Hatch is one of the few places where we know we will enjoy all the food and not feel like its veggie. This is the first time we have visted since they introduced their current menu and looks like it has expanded and contains more options that our of a wider variety of flavours. One noticeable dish missing was the bucket of deep fried veg which i did personally like. Our idea was to get a mixture of "small junk" to share and 1 "big junk" each. Our small junk choices were Deep Fried Halloumi which was delicious and probably best halloumi dish we have had. The Giant Onion Rings which again were delicious, definitely giant and nice crispy batter. The Salt & Pepper Seitan Bites which we was unforunately told they couldnt do that day, so instead we picked the cauliflower wings which were ok but probably our least favourite of the 3 dishes. We both order the Dbl Take which is their adaption of the burger KFC introduced as a special that instead of a bun it was 2 burgers with the filling inbetween. DTH version was 2 seitan fillets with a hashbrown, shallots, bbq & cheese sauce and it tasted amazing and didnt care that there was no meat within it. We both upgraded our fries, one to salt & pepper which had a good flavour and the pizza fries which were waffle fries with tomato/cheese sauce. The only slight negative id have is that they work on a basis that the food comes out when its ready not as Starter/Main which i forgot and found it a bit weird to get what was my main first on my own for around 5 minutes before the person i was with was to get their main. Overall for a worthwhile price of £32 (with a 15% discount) this was good choice of restaurant for food. I know its extremely popular within the vegetarian & vegan community in Liverpool but would also recommend it to any non veggie people to try for something a bit different.

Fantastic restaurant. Very big portions. Service is on point. Food is full of flavour. Menu has loads of variety. Not over priced. Fantastic vibe. Clean. Quirky and laid back interior. We will be back!

Food was amazing as usual !! Had the Seitan crispy chill bits ( a favourite of mine) I then tried the rude boy which is by far the best vegan burger I’ve ever had !! And tried the Oreo sundae 😍

Delicious as always! Never disappoints and has even won over some of my meat eater friends. The staff always make the meal so much better.

Good food, it's great to have a whole menu to choose from instead of just one or two dishes.

The best vegan food in Liverpool no doubt! Very friendly staff and a really nice atmosphere about the place. Definitely wouldn’t hesitate to visit again.

Food was amazing, if never fails, and the staff as happy and helpful as always too! Down the Hatch is becoming my favourite regular! Can’t wait for next time.

Really good food, and cool atmosphere.customer service was very good to start sat down quickly , food arrive but wasn’t right but was changed quickly. only complaint was service took a nose dive as it got busier, took ages to pay the bill tried to get 3 different waiters/waitresses attention as they went past the table but in the end had to go to the bar on the way out to pay. Apart from that good vegan junk food!

Excellent vegan junk food. Nice ambience, friendly staff and quick service. Easily accessible from the centre. Very busy on the weekends and would recommend reserving a table prior.

Really great food, great price and choice. Would definitely recommend this to anybody visiting Liverpool. Service was very speedy and the atmosphere in the restaurant was cosy.

Just ok. Whole meal was pretty stodgy and I didnt feel great after! The hand cut chips were soggy and not worth the extra charge. Other diners meals looked better so perhaps I just ordered the token dud dish. Nice staff and really well decorated.

The restaurant had a warm and welcoming atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff. The food was lovely and our kids enjoyed it too. Highly recommend.

Really tasty food, decent portion sizes and good value for money. Fast, attentive service from all staff. Unfortunately,me and my partner had eaten a massive breakfast earlier in the day and couldn't try more options or finish all the food we had.

I love down the hatch and have been here so many times it's one of my favorite places as a vegan. Unfortunately this time was a little disappointing as the chips we're pretty undercooked which was a shame and the door was covered in too much sour minty sauce which has never happened when I've ordered it before. I'm still 150% gonna go back as I love this place.

We chose to eat here from several recommendations and we were not disappointed. Staff were all friendly, professional and polite. Food was quick, tasted and looked amazing. We will most definitely be making a return visit!!!

Amazing food! Would travel back to Liverpol JUST for the food and vibe! We had a two main, a side, two drinks and a desert for £30 which was really reasonable

Fab food and wonderful that they again adapted to the particular proclivities of my son (fussy) and I (diabetic)! Only spoiled by the dripping ceiling, which I hope is repaired soon! Would suggest a couple of other diet/no added sugar drinks could be added to the menu.

Food slightly expensive for what you get. The different sauces thrown on the burger were too hot for me. And paying a £1 extra for chunky chips rather than skinny fries I find it’s another way for them to make more money! That aside the food was tasty and I would go back again and order without al the sauces.

This was my second visit to down the hatch and I love the food here and service always really friendly. The only reason I haven't scored the full 6 stars was because the menu is a little vague to non-vegetarians/vegans and I just wish there was a little more detail about what the food is...my OH is a huge meat lover but I knew he would love the food here if he give it a try and he wasn't as overjoyed with it as me and it turns out he didn't really know what he was ordering - perhaps a bit of a run down somewhere of what different meat substitutes are would help others like him? He didn't mention it until we got home so we couldn't have asked the staff, who I am sure would have been happy to help! Food amazing and huge portions!

The food was Delcious and the staff were so helpful. I will certainly be coming back again and recommend to others. The desserts are amazing too!

We put in the notes that we needed space for a pram next to the table and got there and there are steep steps and no space to get a pram into the restaurant

Staff were all lovely, always on hand to help if needed, friendly, smiling and attentive. Food was excellent, served quickly and was piping hot, a good selection of drinks at the bar. Toilets were clean, and tidy and smelled fresh. It was my first time here, but I will definitely be coming back

First visit. The welcome was warm and the place had a great ambience. The food was lovely and well presented. The service was fast, friendly and efficient. I will definitely be going again.
