About Farmers Arms

It’s no exaggeration to say that Farmers Arms is known by everybody in Poynton, and that’s because this fine British pub has been standing proud at the top of Park Lane – right in the heart of town – for decades. Recently refurbished, this is a beautiful pub and restaurant with bags of rustic charm. Of course, the bar is stocked full of fine wines and locally brewed beers and ales, but the kitchen is where Farmers Arms really comes into its own. British pub classics are refined and done absolutely right here, whether you’re looking for a light bite at lunch or a wholesome fill at dinner. It’s difficult to overstate the class on show at this, the jewel in Poynton’s crown.

More about Farmers Arms, Poynton

If you’re in or around Poynton – a charming coal mining village that’s steeped in history – then Farmers Arms is, without a single speck of doubt, your best option for classic British dining. This well-loved pub and restaurant can be found on Park Lane, a beautiful road that is very much the hub of everything that happens in Poynton and thus, Farmers Arms is an important part of the community. Recently renovated, this hotspot in the heart of town is stylish, welcoming and refined. You’ll find no plain old pub decor here, instead you can expect a vibrant wall of flowers, exposed brick, rustic wood and, even though this is a casual dining spot, a feel of sophistication that is further enhanced by the terrific British cuisine that comes out of the kitchen.

Farmers Arms is the perfect choice regardless of the time of day. By day enjoy a soothing coffee alongside a freshly-prepared sandwich – the popular Farmers club or the posh fish finger both guaranteed to bring a smile to your face, but in the evening, British classics are mastered with a distinctive dash of Farmers flare. To begin, consider a whole mini baked camembert with rosemary or some wonderfully rich Bury black pudding with hash cake. For mains there are award-winning handmade pies as well sauteed calves liver with potato puree, onions rings, bacon and a mushroom gravy. Also wise not to miss is the duo of lamb, confit shoulder paired with pan roasted rump, while the classics of sausage and mash or beer battered fish are quite easily the best you’ll find in Poynton. As we have said, the elegant Poynton town centre has Farmers Arms to be immensely proud of. Reserve a table now and look forward to proper British dining.

Fabulous meal, staff really helpful and friendly. No rush to eat your meal! Only downside was that there was nowhere to park! We did eventually squeeze in near to a hedge but managed to get a few scratches. Think maybe there should be a notice for shoppers to not park there if not eating!

Vey bust post football (England 2 - Sweden 0) but great atmosphere. Great table in the 'conservatory' and lovely staff. Menu extensive, with something for everyone. We chose tempura veg. to start, followed by sea bass and cheese and onion pie. Great tastes and lovely evening.

Great service, offers a full menu. Food was to a high standard and very well presented. Due to it being Father’s Day he got a free pint!
