Unfortunately the red snapper linguine was drowning in capers. The duck was tasty although a little overcooked. Service was good. I always love the fothergills dining experience but on this occasion was disappointed with
Fantastic meal, great location and service, reasonable prices as well, central town you can't beat it. Definitely go again. Easy to get to and in the nice end of town
The food was delicious and the staff attentive and friendly. We were able to have a relaxing evening and never felt rushed this is definitely a regular place for me
Great service, wonderful food, lovely atmosphere, great table near the large window. Veggie mezze was beautiful, friends had chicken linguine and fish, all cooked to perfection
Nice location and great to sit outside and enjoy the sun however the food was just OK and service was slow as too few staff.
The food, decor and service was excellent and all very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend and will definitely be going back again soon as there is so much more I want to try
Very tasty well presented meals. Excellent service by friendly staff. Some of the meals lacked a bit off finnesse spring onion on starter hadn't been prepped. Juat a little too rustic! This didn't detract from the overall that meal we thoroughly enjoyed.
Nice food good service. Good location. The waitress was really attentive and pleasant, we had the sharing platter meat and pickle was lovely. Fish and chips great!!
Lovely room and perfect size for a night away, excellent service and food was really good. Overall we had a really good night. Thank you
We had a great evening. Our waitress was lovely and really helpful. We tried the food and wine offer. Would recommend to friends and family.
Very good service, good value and atmosphere. We enjoyed burger, sausage and mash, rabbit casserole followed by raspberry crumble and chocolate brownie and ice cream. Sticky toffee pudding was a little dry. A good range of real ale.
Food was lovely, Steak and Ale pie was full of meat, nice mash and veg. My wife's meal (chicken and chorizo linguini) was apparently also lovely. Drinks were nice (hot chocolate almost needed scraping out of the mug it was so thick and chocolatey) , quick and friendly service.
From the moment I walked in I was made to feel very welcome. I was greeted with smiles and friendliness. Very efficient service and the food was excellent. Great atmosphere I will definitely return. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.
Quite possibly the best Sunday lunch I've had in a restaurant and the homemade desserts look delicious if you have any room left that is!
Great food - loved the chorizo and king prawn starter - delicious. Balsamic inspired dressing was delightful. Good wine choices. Great service. To make it even better they could have done something special as they knew it was my partneRs bday
Met some friends for lunch. Menu had a good choice with a wide range of prices. Service and ambience good. Can recommend and will go again.
Brilliant food and friendly service makes Fothergills a first choice for city centre sunday lunches - nice relaxed atmosphere and good range of food and drink are definitely the main factors when considering where to go. :)
Fab meal out, well worth it! We had excellent service and food throughout the entire evening. We would definitely go back again. Thank you! :)
Top quality food and great service in a great location. The Sunday lunch is wonderful but they do offer more from the menu. Thanks for a great day
Excellent food and service the waitress really made my little boy feel special.would defiantly recommend it's our 2 be visit for mothers day and this year she enjoyed the Eton mess dessert.
Fab service, lovely olde-English building opposite the Robin Hood statue, wide range of well-kept hand-pull beers, good choice of wines with some unusual options (we tried a slightly too-young 2014 Derbyshire Rondo!!), very clean toilets, and most importantly, fresh tasty food, beautifully presented. All 6 of us agreed it was one of the best meals we've had in a long time.
Great food - we had 4 roasts, including vegetarian option which was very tasty. Service a little hit and miss, they were busy and we could tell.
Lovely food, great service and beautiful ambiance. Had a lovely evening, six of us visited and not one of us could fault the food. A thoroughly lovely evening, will definitely be retuening
Great location, great service, good food and fantastic price! Out second visit and will definitely be coming back. Mussels are very good. Apparently the best place for Sunday lunch so that is now on our list!
Interior full of character in sight of the castle wall; looks great under lights at night. Not too busy or hectic, music in the background. Food good and pleasant service.
Excellent meals , would definitely go again . Although the drinks ordered took a while to arrive when first arriving. Staff were friendly and helpful
Relaxed environment, staff are friendly and polite, food is wonderful. only down fall is they didn't have fish option on the menu this time, but there is plenty to choose. I will definitely be going again.
Great food and location, really enjoyed it and would recommend. Nice pub next door as well. Well worth a visit. Good varied menu for all tastes
Delicious food and in a great setting. Fab service, would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning! Thank you for a great meal ! :)
Service and food excellent. The starters and main courses were presented in appealing way. Venue exactly what we wanted for a social gathering! Thank you we will come again.
Excellent food service brilliant the product knowledge of staff was brilliant and we were made to feel truly welcome. We felt that it was almost friends serving our food will definitely visit again
Good service, good food. Definately suggest to visit. I visited Forthergills for anniversary dinner. I ordered duck confit and pork belly. Both were tasty. Wine were so so but worth the price.
Exceptional food and great service, unsure about the table located between levels on a break in the stairs, but other than that everything was lovely. Would prefer cheaper dessert and wine but not obscene.
From walking in to leaving service was excellent. Staff were knowledgeable about menu and made excellent recommendactions. Ambience excellent, good lighting and castle views. Food lived up to expectations....very good. Recommending experience to friends
Great food. Cheerful service. Only criticism is that, it was a cold January eveningand the heating in the restaurant was not sufficient to maintain the room at a comfortable temperature. The bar was warm, the restaurant no.
Good food and nice friendly staff. It was busy but the service was very good. I would definitely recommend it. Nice views of Nottingham castle
I wouldn't go sunday evening. The venue is nice and welcoming, the staff polite and helpful. But the menu is different on sunday - and unless you basically want a roast not that great. The only other thing I might have had was fish & chips - but the fryer was out of action. They'd run out of beef. So overall is was picking from quite a short list. What I had was nice, but overall the experience wasn't as I had expected
Great atmosphere, great food and great service. The staff are always attentive and friendly. Visits to this place have got me through some rough times over the last year - it's always a great place to come back to.
really helpful staff and great food. The Sunday roast was excellent quality and value. Bread and butter pudding also a hit. We would go back again.
