We were made to feel very welcome, the service was effortless, and there was plenty to choose from on the menu: good food done well. A very pleasant evening: minimum effort, maximum taste.

Really good place to have a drink and a good meal. Overlooking the castle, so good backdrop. Good service. Overall a good place to eat.

We had a table of 6 booked at 7.15 and 2 people in our party ordered the pork. When it came it was inedible as it was so tough. We had an apology and they ordered different meals, but by the time these came everyone else had already finished. When the bill came, you had charged us for 8 meals (the two pork meals which were sent back and the replacement meals). Although it didn't affect me, the people concerned weren't offered anything off their bill which is a shame as we are a large company who regularly eat out and their experience will no doubt be passed on to others here. Apart from that, the other meals were good.

Great atmosphere and outstanding service - only disappointment was the chicken kiev which was very dry. Staff very very friendly and helpful and overall a pleasant evening.

Enjoyed it very much and would do so again. This was a nice meal and restaurant and I would definitely like to recommend it you.

Good welcome, good quality food at reasonable prices and a good atmosphere in this well laid out pub/bistro. Good range of real ales. Highly recommended for a meal in the castle area of Nottingham.

Organised booking system, from arrival all the staff were friendy and helpful. we both enjoyed a Lovely three course meal. The service was excellent we would return

Very poor service - we think due to a large group / party. Not a good experience. 50 minutes between starter and main course. Waitress apologised and explained that if we were in a hurry we should have said.

Enjoyable family meal. Basic food done well. Attentive staff most with a sunny disposition. Great backdrop of Nottingham Castle and plenty of outside seating which would be a fabulous combination given the weather.

The food was good and the service was good, although the waitresses come across a little false. A negative point was that after leaving a (ok, small) tip we were never thanked for our custom or were not aknowledged when leaving.

Friendly staff and nice relaxing atmosphere. We each had one od the Sunday lunches and all were very well cooked. The seasonal veg were spiralises which was a bit strange but overall a nice supper.

Good food good beer very friendly staff. Can certainly recommend. A lovely location with plenty of happy faces enjoying a night out in Nottingham. Give if a go.

Well prepared and presented food. Good selection of wines. catered effortlessly for the fussier diners amongst the party (those who require gluten free). Great value for money.

I would highly recommend Fothergills. The choice and quality of food was excellent. The service was pitched just right, attentive but not overbearing and sensitive to the fact it was a business lunch.

Evening with family for Mother's Day. The food was great. The service was excellent and a nice relaxed atmosphere with candles. Nice choice of roast dinners.

Fothergill's is one of my favourite restaurants in Nottingham. The food is reasonably priced and is always of a great quality. This was the perfect venue for a work's meal.

A bit disappointed with the limited menu for St Valentines Day. At nearly £30 each it wasn't cheap. I expected more for the price, with just one alcoholic drink each it came to almost £70!

Exquisite food, beautifully presented. Tastes delicious. 5 different main courses between us, all stunning. Inventive and tasty starters, really good baked cheesecake. Really wonderful staff. Highly recommend and I can't wait to go again soon.

My wife and I had our first meal at fothergills last weekend and it was the best eating experience we have had for years. The staff were so friendly with first class service and the food tasted amazing. We have booked to go again for Sunday Lunch. 10 out of 10

A lovely Sunday lunch to celebrate my mother's 70 th Birthday. The atmosphere is lovely. The restaurant has a nice friendly atmosphere. We all thought the food and wine were delicious. Big puddings went down well too!

Fantastic food and drink in a glorious setting! The service was simply gobsmackingly amazing. If you find yourself in Nottingham this is the place to head for.

The restaurant is in a Great location near the castle. The menu suited us perfectly and the food was fabulous. The service was efficient and polite. All in all -fabulous food and a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

This restaurant is so so good. Very friendly staff, great food, super location, reasonable prices and relaxing atmosphere. We spent a very pleasant 3 hours there and will definately be returning soon. Highly recomended.

A very lively atmosphere with great food and service. We went for my wife's birthday in a group of 6 on Nottinghamshire Light Night so we even got a free show of the lights at Nottingham Castle from our table looking out at the Castle

A busy sunday with reduced staff but did not affect great good or service. Took elderly mother and they happily moved us away from the door without a fuss.

Good service ,good food ,pleasant atmosphere. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The restaurant was busy always a good sign. Menu could be a bit more adventurous.

The food and service at Fothergills was spot on as was the atmosphere. Having visited before Christmas as part of a large group and recently as a smaller gathering, both evenings were faultless. The location also adds to the experience as you look out over Nottingham castle

Spent a very enjoyable evening at Fothergills on Saturday to celebrate my birthday with our friends. Excellent food, excellent service, great atmosphere - couldn't be faulted!!

Kitchen 'lost' our order. Took an hour and a half to get food. No bread was offered, we had to ask. Food arrived grossly over cooked ( it was the 'special' chicken beast wrapped in pancetta). Inedible. The waitresses were very good though. It is not their fault that they have a lousy kitchen. Will not be eating there again. Such a shame as it is in a great location with a sunny terrace looking towards the castle.

Always pleasant at Fothergills. Lunch menu has a fairly good range, good price for 2 or 3 course prix fixe, good service allowing for a 1 hour lunch break to be kept to!

Great food full of flavour, mushrooms for starter were amazing and the main dishes were also with great quality. They have a nice menu of wines too. For the quality of the meal/lunch this is a place to return.
