The staff were great and managed to fit in an extra member of our party at a day's notice. The food was good. The only thing that could be improved was the nut loaf: both the vegetarians in our party found it bland in texture (not very nutty) and the sauce over-sweet. Nevertheless, a good experience all round.
Great food, exceptional service! Relaxing atmosphere in a good location near the centre of Nottingham. Good food and drink choice. We'll be certainly re visiting!
Great meal and service as always. The perfect mix of pub and restaurant in a great location. Good indoor and outdoor seating with views of the castle walls.
The Food was good but had to wait a long time for order to be taken, then a long wait between courses, table was in the bar area and very noisy
Food and atmosphere was very good. Staff very pleasant. I would have given a 6 except some drinks had been added to the bill which we had not ordered. The staff promptly rectified this but the same thing had happened on a previous visit. Would definitely return.
Great service and food as always, staff very attentive and great choice and food and drinks. Nice to sit in and also outside when the weather permits
The meal was lovely. The waitress was very helpful and we received excellent service. I had the duck breast it was very pink and a bit rarer than I prefer.
Lovely little restaurant near the castle. Really reasonably priced food. Tasted delicious and fresh. Really friendly service. Would definitely recommend the wine and dine offer.
The staff are attentive and discrete. Although we had booked a table, we decided to sit outside as the evening was one of these few late summer balmy evenings. This area of the city is wonderful, overlooking the castle walls, with no distinct traffic. The food was excellent, served together, with no reminders to the staff who ordered what. All in all an excellent evening out.
Very informal atmosphere, with a team of experienced staff that made our visit enjoyable. Food was good, reasonably priced. We have been a few times & it has a nice feel about the place.
Excellent food at reasonable prices. Good portion sizes as well, so no skimping on the quality or amount. Prompt service and a great location, and a nice selection of beers.
Everything was spot-on, the food and atmosphere were great, the service was really good and very acceptable waiting times for each course, a very pleasant experience all round.
Lovely restaurant very nice food highly recommend ithis. It good for all ages always busy and good atmosphere you can look out at the Castle
Great food,we were placed at the bottom of the restaurant which was nice, however, sometimes took a bit of time for the waitress to come and service us. It wasn't a real issue as we weren't in a hurry
Their website shows about if date menu, they will not cook anything off it. The manage is rude, smug and made a 'meow' comment on leaving and said she hopes we don't come back.
Lovely day by the Castle, occasional showers but mostly sunny - combined with a delicious Sunday Lunch! Always good quality food and a great atmosphere.
EXCELLENT SERVICE AND GREAT FOOD FOR LUNCHTIME. THE BOOKING PROCESS WAS EASY AND THE AMBIENCE WAS JUST RIGHT FOR A SEMI-BUSINESS LUNCH. i WOULD RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT.
Recommended by a friend, First time visit for special occasion, lovely atmosphere, nice staff, excellent food, fairly priced, would recommend and will visit again soon
Just brilliant place. Eat here lots and will continue to. Thank you 😊 Always a lovely menu and good wine at reasonable price. Great for any occasion.
Nice food and presentation, friendly stuff and good location. 2 main courses with carafe of house wine for 25 pounds! Duck breast is really good!
The reason why it hasn't received 6 stars is because there was 1 or 2 dishes on the menu that weren't available, other than that brilliant as usual.
Food was really nice, especially the steak, really nice restaurant in a nice location, lovely staff, not particularly very busy there which is nice for a quiet meal
Excellent food and great service. The staff were all very polite and attentive. Great for a date night or group of friends. I would definitely go back
The food was absolutely gorgeous, in taste and appearance. 2 wine and dine for £29 is a great mid-week deal. However service was a bit slow and they open all the front up, which is lovely on a warm day but got rather chilly and could've done with being closed sooner. Still a wonderful evening!
Great food and service. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to other people. The prices are quite reasonable too and it is close to some other great pubs in Nottingham.
Excellent food and service in great surroundings, would definitely recommend Fothergills. The atmosphere is great especially on a warm summers night sitting outside people watching.
Staff were great food and service was exceptional. The Sardines the Pork Belly followed by Posset mouthwatering. My family didn't have a bad word about their choices as well.
Was sat at a table about 4 foot from the bar, with a draught blowing through the open doors. Asked to move to a table further away from the bar with people not constantly walking past you as you were eating, was told no more tables, not even if we waited for one! So had our drinks and told them we would not be staying. Only thing waitress said was if you book again ask for a quiet table, bit hard to do when you'd booked on line. Won't be going back
The food was tasty and beautifully presented. There was a great atmosphere. The staff were extremely helpful: responding quickly to emails sent before the meal and making us feel relaxed and welcome on the day.
Great place that does very nice food in a nice area of Nottingham just outside the Nottingham castle grounds. Good service, good ambiance and good food.
Nice atmosphere in restaurant - bar staff knowledgeable about the beers on available - Service good and menu choice suitable. Food was also good quality.
Fabulous evening. Great ambience as we eat outside on a wonderful summer evening. The food was wonderful and presentation excellent. Staff were very attentive and a great evening was had by all. Will definitely return
Reservation done online with no issues at all, a reminder / welcome mail was received ahead of arrival.. Table was ready as soon as we arrived. Food was delicious, had the Sunday roast... What was nice is that we weren't rushed at all which allowed me and the girls to have a good catch up. Will be back again. Thank you
Food, customer service and atmosphere was very good. A good range of food to cater to everyone's tastes. Only disappointment was a lack of vegan options on the menu (although the restaurant was able to cater for this).
I took my mum to Fothergills for a meal on Saturday evening. It's in a lovely spot next to the Castle and we sat outside in the sunshine. The staff were very attentive and friendly and I was impressed with the menu. I had mussels with chips and mum had a chicken caesar salad. I'd definitely go there again.
The food was very nice, good presentation, tasty and warm. Good contemporary music, I literally liked all the songs. The staff was friendly and served promptly.
Very pleasant restaurant with a nice atmosphere, good outlook and friendly and efficient staff in a very pleasant area of Nottingham abutting the castle. There is also an interesting and varied menu. Heartily recommended.
Super friendly staff, good atmosphere, tasty food with good size portions. Would recommend the two wine and dine deal. Will definitely make a return visit.
The steak was tough as old boots well disappointed this time . The last time we went it was lovely and I'm sure there was more choice on the menu last time
Lovely setting, next to the castle. The Communcations between the kitchen and front of house made for frustration at the start of service- order was taken, then the soup changed and they had ran out of a starter (first service of the day should know what's on and what's not prior to order taking and then coming back to the table twice) a little procey for he actual product recieved.
