First time there food was lovely will definitely go there again the drinks were good also people are so very delightful a lovely clean and tidy place to enjoy good food
The staff are insensitive and do not understand you. The food is okay but customer service is non existent. The stock phrase is "I understand but"
Visited to celebrate a birthday. Only the second time we have visited Gurkha 1816 (nearly three months ago) but were recognised by our waiter. Food was absolutely gorgeous, one of my companions declaring the Chicken Tikka was the best he'd ever had (and that dish has been a favourite of his for more decades than he'd like to count). The restaurant was quite busy and had a great buzz but this didn't detract in any way from the attentive and friendly service we enjoyed. Will definitely be making our visits more frequent!
Great food and Service at reasonable prices. Will definitely be going back to visit again. The staff are excellent and they offer a good choice of drinks. The Gurkha was exceptional.

First time visiting the restaurant after hearing some excellent reviews from family and friends. Was not disappointed! The staff were very welcoming and delivered excellent service throughout our meal. The food was some of the best we had tasted, with amazing flavours and spice! We all had different meals and all was satisfied! Will be visiting again!!!!

Used for the first time after being recommended by more than one person. Will definitely use again. The food was lovely with very good service.

Lovely staff, food and atmosphere, will definitely be back We went there to celebrate St Valentine's Day, the prices hadn't been hiked just because it was a special evening. Would recommend the Nepalese menu as the food is a new twist to asian cuisine
All the staff are very friendly, attentive but not overbearing. The tables around us were getting the same attention and the staff made waiting on a table look effortless. There were four in my party. We ordered two different starters and four different mains. 2 shared a starter - This was no problem and didn’t offend. One main added paneer (cheese) at no extra cost; one ordered Nepalese curry which is medium heat and chicken comes on the bone...asked for chicken off the bone, again no problem and was then asked if wanted the curry any hotter/cooler to suite their taste. It was a surprise to get a complimentary taster which was very tasty and set the standards for the evening. If you’ve never tasted Nepalese food, then you’re in for a treat...it is similar to that of an Indian but more subtle. You can taste the different flavours and in my opinion far better which was agreed by the table. Ghurkha 1816 cooks Nepalese, Indian and British food. Two stuck to the Nepalese and two had Indian which has a Nepalese twist to it. We don’t go out for an Indian meal too often but when we do, we have a favourite and Gurkha 1816 is now that restaurant.
Food was lovely. Service was great too. All the dishes were so tasty. Look forward to trying more from the menu! And the Gurkha beer went down a treat.
Our party of 4 were made to feel very welcome. Nice staff, surroundings/atmosphere and the food was fantastic. We will definitely be returning and will recommend!
Excellent food, lovely people, food a bit slow, but quality takes time I guess. Can't wait to return to try more new things. Glad I read the views about the sorbet palate cleanser- my husband thought it was desert!!
