The ongoing vogue for Korean food is not something that seems to be going anywhere, and at Hamgipak on Fulham Road in, well, Fulham, they are certainly in it for the long haul. They dole out steaming bowls of stew, filled with Korean favourites like kimchi, tofu, spicy beef and fresh vegetables. Head to west London – take the District line to Parsons Green – for a serving of South Korean specialities.
For a very busy friday night, there were only 2 staff. We waited for 15mns just waiting for the menu. Our order arrived around half an hour later. We didn't complain. They were doing their best and they were attentive enough but two staff can not handle a very busy place. Foodwise, a bit disappointed that we had to pay for everything we order, even for lettuce that usually comes with the bbq. Serving size a bit small too. Taste is so so.
Lovely waitress and amazing food! The music was turned off at some points and was so was very quiet.
Great service and food. Though it was busy the waitress was super efficient and kept us updated on when our food was coming.
For many years, South Korean food was among the most maligned of Asian cuisines, languishing between the sushi and sashimi specialities of Japan and the dim sum delicacies of China. Of late though, the cuisine of the Korean Peninsula has become one of the most sought after around, and at Hamgipak on Fulham Road, you can taste some of the best of it in London. Find your way to Fulham for a feed and you won’t be disappointed.
The draw, of course, is the menu, and on this stretch of Fulham Road, they have offerings for all comers at all times. Our lunchtime recommendation would be the bibimbab – veggies with egg and, to your liking, beef – and later visitors can enjoy a range of fried favourites, Korean BBQ or one of their stews, which are packed with spice. West London is a great place to eat out, Fulham is one of the main dining areas, and Hamgipak is one of the best restaurant in that area: so book a table now.
