Staff accommodated our late arrival, food was amazing , great veggie options

Superb food as usual. Always so welcoming and friendly. Never had a bad experience at the Hen & Chickens.

Normally when we go out for this type of food we are asked about the level of heat we would like. My wife had a Dansak which wherever in the world we have had one it is usually Medium and My Biryani is similarly medium if not asked about heat. But here it was a lev el higher than comfortable for us which made an otherwise Excellent meal into one just manageable. We both left some but normallythere would be empty plates. My son and his friend also found their food too spicy/hot and we have eaten food in India / las Vegas and many other different parts of the world. Netherless it was still an enjoble evening and if we cam again we would just ask to tone it down a level.

Arrived a little late due to traffic and one person shy due to illness but not a problem. Reserved table was ideal. Ordering was simple, service was quick and most importantly the food was excellent, far too much ordered meaning far too much left behind ! No complaints at all at the quality and taste of the food, the speed of service and the friendliness of the staff.

As always a great atmosphere and one of the few places that serves neckoil. The food is brilliant but, portion sizes are ridiculously small and very overly priced too.

Found this place when researching top spots in Birmingham. It was perfect! The owner was welcoming and answered all of our questions. We enjoyed the the large mixed grill (three of us) and despite being rather full, ordered the Butter Chicken and Naan. We even chatted with a local who stopped to say hello. Great time. If you have a chance to dine here, you must!

Food excellent. Beer very nice but limited choice. It was mid afternoon mid week so we were in the bar with few other groups, would have been cosy with the right background music, but multiple big screens and sports punditry was intrusive.

The overall experience was fantastic. The food was ordered and it arrived freshly made so quick. We are talking a professional dining experience here with home cooked traditional recipes brought to the public. The place has a relaxed pub vibe which to me adds to the whole experience and value for money, I think so. We couldn’t finish all our food but for what you pay with drinks so totally worth it. Staff are amazing. I loved every single thing about this place

We were here on a quiet Sunday afternoon so service was prety quick. The food is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We each had starters and mains and everything was delicious. I had the chicken madras which was to die for - I usually order a madras when I visit an Indian restaurant which I've never been to before and it was excellent with a lovely blend of heat and spice. Next time (and there WILL BE MANY more next times!!!) I'll up my heat level a notch or two as this was truly fantastic!

Wonderful service and food. It was my first time at a restaurant like this as an American. They were all gracious hosts and helped me select a wonderful meal to try a variety of things. The people at the pub were very friendly as well and I had lovely conversations there. All in all a superb time!!

Good food, great bear, excellent company. Not so keen on the table by the main entrance but as it was a warm evening it wasn't a big issue

First time visiting H&C and it was a great experience. Staff were friendly, food was a delight, bar service was quick, ordering food was easy (I've never seen a menu where you tick what you want!). Venue was clean throughout and a great social setting to sit and have a chat over food.

Food was savage. Defo worth a visit if you are in Birmingham.

Haven’t been here for a while and really enjoyed my visit.

First time dining here an would go back again. I had the chicken Patti’s and it was very tasty. The staff are helpful and it’s a pleasant surroundings.

One of the best desi grill pubs in Birmingham been to many and this is definitely up there meat quality is 10/10

We enjoyed a lovely meal at the H&C. We walked off the street into a bar with every table full of cheerful looking diners. The welcome was warm and we were shown to a table at the rear of the pub. A nice, chatty atmosphere - neither too noisy nor too loud. Fast service and the food was terrific. Excellent butter chicken. Spicy jalfrezi. Light and fluffy naan. Very good quality. Some nice local beers too - I tried the Pure Helles lager - brewed in Warwickshire. Will definitely return. Super venue.
