The whole experience was 10/10 The ambiance. The service. The food. Everything was how I expected it to be. Perfect.
Great food would recommend and the service was excellent. Very close to theatre
Excellent food really nice people close to fine dining second time will definitely book again
We have been to James Dahl several times, in fact twice this week, and always find it first rate
Bangladesh culinary class meets the Arcadian. It is clear James Dahl Indian has left its signature in this eclectic area. The venue is charming, dimly lit and presented with a touch of gaudy class. Service, which is the case in most Bangladeshi based restaurants, is first rate, very attentive. Staff are well presented, going above and beyond to meet your needs. Food is presented beautifully, with a familiar taste to suit the needs of people looking for higher quality British Indian food. You will pay a premium for the privilege, but worth it is. A great venue for small groups, couples or the odd Singleton wearing cycle wear, me:)
My guest and I arrived approximately 5 minutes before our booking however we were warmly welcomed, immediately put at ease and shown to our table The restaurant is very open, which my guest and I commented and it is a clearly well kept and refined restaurant. We were spoken to extremely politely by all members of staff, they were very helpful and professional throughout our evening and the atmosphere in the restaurant during our meal was very relaxed. The food was of a high standard and the portion sizes were perfect, not overdoing it but you left full and satisfied. My guest and I had a starter and main course each. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a very good quality Indian cuisine with a relaxed ambiance and adept staff. I shall definitely be returning.
Excellent service as soon as we walked through the door. The waiting staff are polite, friendly and helpful - quite a rarity in restaurants these days. Food was tasty and plenty of choice. The wine I picked was also excellent. The only thing I’d change next time I visit is sitting in a different area of the restaurant. As it’s quite small and intimate, noise levels got quite high (it was peak time on a Saturday night after all) and my friend and I had to raise our voices a little to hear each other (we were sitting in the area where most of the tables are concentrated). Altogether a great experience though and would definitely go back to try all their other dishes.
Had been trying to visit JD's for a while now but every time I visited Birmingham the Restaurant was closed, always a Monday, so was delighted to be there on a Friday and Booked online to make sure I got in. For a Friday the whole complex where JD's is located was very quiet as was the restaurant, which is surprisingly smaller than you would expect. Staff were friendly and attentive without being over your shoulder all the time, and the menu was varied with house specialities, I had the ANARKALI which was amongst one of the top Indian dishes I have had (and that's a lot). All in all a great experience and would definitely visit again. That 6th elusive star was let down purely by the ambiance which was a little low key for me, unlike Dishoom hub hub and feel
We booked on a quiet Wednesday night so the restaurant wasn’t full, the food was beautifully cooked and well presented,I loved the tandoori king prawns.the service was ok but they kept asking, about 5 times in as many minutes was we ready to order even though we told them we wasn’t,felt kind of rushed.the bill for 5 people came to £166 that’s for drinks poppadoms, starters and main which is what you kind of expect to pay in a “posh” curry house but they add a service charge of 10% on tables of 5 or more which they say is compulsory but I didn’t pay this but I did leave a tip.they did get a bit upset over me not paying the service charge which I thought put a downer on what was a nice visit to a nice restaurant serving a decent curry.would I return, yes I would but only if there was 4 or less people on my table
Our experience was excellent as you can see from the 6,the decor, ambience was lovely,a very extensive menu with all the classics as well as chefs recommendations and new dishes, the waiters were attentive without being intrusive giving us time to peruse the menu and have a pre dinner glass of wine. The most important bit the food was very good ,well presented hot and very tasty, there was three of us who all had different dishes and we all agreed it was excellent. We will definitely be back.
