Kayal - Nottingham

A great meal! The three of us had different dishes and were very impressed with all of them. Service was good and we were looked after without being pestered. A lovely evening.

We only had 45 minutes as the restaurant opened at 6 and we were going to the opera starting at 7, which was a big ask! The staff bent over backwards to accommodate us and the food arrived very quickly. I always like eating here because the food is great and will come back again soon

Very very busy but attentive and most importantly, friendly staff. The food was tasty but my sea bass was a little tepid - I still ate it though and it was lovely. My only other slight criticism was that it was SO hot in there. We had a great evening and overall delicious food.

Really fabulous place - great welcome, decoration, friendly staff,food was incredible, even a magician - we have never had a keralan curry before - it way exceeded our expectations and was like no Indian food we have had before Loved it 😊

Great food & drink. The waiting staff really take time to explain some of the dishes and suggest what you might want to pair together and how much rice and bread to order, so you don't over do it. You can always get more.

A first time visit and we found fantastic food with amazing friendly service. Kayal soup highly recommended

What an experience!!!The dosa was huge and wonderful to eat. I am not sure why I waited so long to visit the restaurant. Definitely be back.

It was a welcoming atmosphere and staff were very friendly Food was overall nice and portions were good Service was patchy not having the same person to the table so the orders got forgotten The fish dish which I have had many times before was not the same and had too much of the curry which did not have the authentic taste / flavour - something to look into to retain known customers

That was absolutely the best Indian food I have ever had. The restaurant has a great atmosphere (and fabulous decor!). The service was impeccable, and we will definitely be going back. Another diner told me they go there as often as possible. Just try the Beef Boli - your tastebuds will thank you!

Not as good as their Leicester one. Very off fish curry with fatty, gelatinous fish. Service so-so, not very attentive. The Leicester team needs to spend some time there to sort.

Excellent food! The South-Indian style of cooking was a lovely change from the usual Indian menu. And good value for money. Congratulations! Just one disappointment, however. We all found it difficult to hear the conversations across our table owing to the adjacent tables (one of about 12 and the other a table of four) being rather loud. Maybe some sound absorbing foam blocks on the ceiling - or any other sound-absorbing decor would help. I would be surprised if this is the first review to mention this issue. If it is, then I will just put it down to those tables being high spirited at the end of the day’s ‘Nottingham’ Pride celebrations. I’d be interested in your feedback and opinion. Keep up the great work in the kitchen!

Restaurant was in need of a refresh. Decor was delapidated. Staff, whilst pleasant were asking if you were ready for your main when you hadn't finished your starter. Food was ok but not the best. When paying for the bill a rack of spices were put on the table and we were asked if we wanted to buy! Also there was a man introducing himself to us as the resident magician and did we want to see some magic. I have never seen this option at an Indian restaurant before and whilst I'm sure he might have been good at his job, I don't think it fitted at all with what was supposed to be the "atmosphere"

We had been to the Kayal on previous occasions, were local that evening and thought we would return. Excellent service in a busy restaurant, didn’t feel rushed. Had the Tali dishes which were just as good as we remembered them. Everything including the wine was very good value for money. We won’t be waiting as long to return I am sure!
