La Cueva means ‘the cave’ in Spanish and step inside this little restaurant on Old Rectory and you’ll instantly feel like you’ve been transported to some rural Spanish cave with its cave-like walls and ceiling, complimented by traditional Mediterranean-style decor. It's not just the stunning setting that attracts diners to its Cheadle location every day of the week, the food is pretty special too. Share some authentic Spanish tapas like the pinchos de cordero (bite-size lamb cubes marinated in oregano, olive oil and a touch of chilli), gambas pil pil (king prawns sauteed in olive oil, garlic and a tomato sauce), albondigas (authentic Spanish meat balls cooked with a rich tomato sauce and herbs) and the patatas bravas, or go for some Spanish paella. Food was good. Restaurant was empty (literally) for the first hour and then a few people came in so there was no atmosphere. Reasonable value.
Lovely food, unique venue and friendly service. There is a really good choice of tapas and the wine list was also decent. Definitely somewhere we will revisit.
Excellent all round - loved it and will definitely go back . Both service and food were of a very high standard & a lovely atmosphere
