Delicious as always; grateful and mystified that we could get a seat so easily on a Friday night. Maybe it's the World Cup working in my favor?

I once adored Lalibella; now less so. this was my first time after 3 years and much has changed. We went there on Saturday around 7 and were told upstairs is closed and will open at 8. We were seated downstair, where staff were happily busing themselves with drink deliveries, using front door and not minding guests at all. We ordered coffee before the main meal as I love the coffee the serve there, and the ceremony. I specifically asked to give us at least 20 minutes to enjoy the coffee before the meal is served. However, the food was served 3 minutes after the coffee arrived. and this wasn't the food I expected. We ordered a shared platter, and the food was served on injera and not in the lovely iron pots it used to be served in. Needless to say, it got cold quite quickly (and it didn't look great, either). We also had to request anothet plate with injera for the othet dish we ordered, as the waitress insisted one plate is enough. No, I said, I ordered two dishes, may I please have two injera plates. The second dish was served in the pot, but then she put the contents on tje plate (annoyed?) and took the pot away. So before we had coffee, this wascold, too. Not a very enjoyable everning. Gone are the warm towels to clean hands aftewards, too. Wil I come again? The food was ok and the restaurant itself is lovely, but for showing off or celebrating I will go to other places.

Amazing flavourful Ethiopian food in Tufnell Park. The restaurant is a nice environment decorated with traditional decor. The servers are all kind and pleasant. The Timatim tomato salad is wonderful.

Charming service in a relaxed ambience. The food was excellent - a real taste of Ethiopia. the only thing that was less than perfect was that not all the items of the main course arrived together. They were, though, all delightfully freshly cooked. It won't deter me from looking forward to going again.

The food was excellent, but it took absolutely forever to arrive. Service was OK but largely inattentive. If the food had arrived in a timely way (in 15 minutes instead of 45) it would have been a perfectly lovely dinner.

Delicious Ethiopian food. Designed for sharing, you sit around a large edible plate with food on it, and eat it with your hands. Very good choice for vegetarians and meat eaters. Friendly staff - it is like stepping out of Tufnell Park into Africa.

Atmosphere and food are great. I enjoyed coffee ceremony. Only issue is not being able to pay by card as machine was not working despite staff effort to fix problems. Fact that never by cash machine was out of service didn't help but also didn't ruin great evening.

The food was good and the service was ok. We experienced a few issues -- ranging from some of the items ordered from the menu not being available to slow service, etc -- but the staff was really friendly so overall it was good.

Every time we need a nice place with great food and atmosphere to share with our overseas friends this is the first choice for us. As always, a great place to spend the evening!

Authentic, tasty Ethiopian meal with pleasant service to match. Great interior/décor, and all our food choices were fantastic. Desserts are clearly something Lalibela aims to please through, but a milk and honey cake had been warmed in a microwave - this was however the only disappointing flaw to the evening, would definitely recommend for the more traditional, savoury options.

Excellent as always. In fact we call came away feeling we had a good night out. We haven't been there for a year...we live in Sutton but it's had a face lift. It still has the spirit of the old Lalibela but a freshness that is appealing. It is less cluttered than it was in the past. Food is still as good as it was, staff are attentive and not obtrusive. We come here at least once a year and we've been coming here for over 15 years.

Nice space, good service. But they didn't have some of the dishes. Over all good experience, more the atmosphere than really the food. I’ll recommend it.

The ambience is good and food is nice as well. Liked the wot dish as it’s was spicy and enjoyed the coffee ceremony. The restaurant is bit smaller as compared to the photos you see in the reviews.

Very tasty, reasonably priced food with friendly, unfussy service. Nicely decorated with a warm and cosy feel - loved the carved wooden chairs and stools. The Ethiopian friend I went with was impressed too.

Nice restaurant friendly staff, tasty food. Good atmosphere with traditional decor and dishes. Really liked the plate warmer with candles and human 3-faces! Had to wait a little for food but we were large group... Recommend sharing on same plate even if you choose different dishes.

Great food in a friendly neighbourhood restaurant. The vegetarian selection is excellent - try the sharing platter for two if you can't make up your mind which to go for.
