For and service was excellent, would recommend Ma Boyles as it is tucked away like a hidden gem. Price and drinks choice was another factor.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. There first table we were given was in a noisy part of the pub, but they quickly moved us to a quieter location. My rib eye steak was beautiful - cooked as I like it. Will definitely return.

Music was good but eat somewhere else. My choices for both starter and main course were not available and the main course I eventually got - Lasagna - was so small I thought they were joking. My companions (3) each got what they ordered but nobody felt the food was of sufficiently high standard. In future we will listen and drink there but eat elsewhere.

What a lovely place! Food was homely and plentiful, staff were very welcoming and helpful and a jazz band ended the evening perfectly! Would definitely recommend.

Ma Boyle's is a great little pub in a quiet location just by St Nicholas church. My wife and I usually pop in for a glass of Merlot when we're in the area. Our last visit was with 4 friends, atmosphere was really good and so was the food. Highly recommend

Fantastic offer with the unlimited prosecco, we even stayed to have some prosecco sangria which I cannot recommend enough. Definitely would come again when back in the area

Fantastic birthday meal, service and food absolutely spot on, the staff went out of their way to make the evening special. One draw back was that some items on the menu where not available, the guys put it right. We will definitely be back to enjoy this eatairy again.

Ordered the scouse, arrived piping hot and delicious. My sister decided to try the fish and chips. The chips were tough and on the cold side. On mentioning it to the waitress and bowl of freshly made chips was quickly brought over, without fuss. Nice ambiance, traditional pub with friendly staff. Live music added to the enjoyment of the evening. On the downside, no toilet tissue in the ladies loos! In fact we came last week, same problem then.

The place was packed and I was really bothered that the table had not been booked but it had! We had a reserved table downstairs awaiting us.The staff were very friendly and the food we had was delicious but we had to wait a long time for our drinks and meals. The waitress started off by telling us what was not available and this was extensive. So overall a disappointment but would visit again when not so busy.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Booked here through the quandoo app and had a great night. Very attentive waitress and nothing was too much trouble even though the place was very busy. Atmosphere was spot on. Our party had Caesar salad, meatballs and the burger, everybody loved the food which had the homemade touch and went down a treat. I would also recommend the lovely pink fizz cocktails as well as their Liverpool Gin. We'll definitely be back soon

It was a nice place, small and cosy, but not overwhelmed with the food. Meal was a bit slow coming and broccoli undercooked, it wasn't bad but not too keen on whopping big Yorkshire pudding on the top of everything!

Food was delicious, service unfortunately was not great. Plus they only had one type of dessert left (luckily it was one we both liked). Would recommend the pies and my husband's burger looked yummy too.

Nice homemade pie & chips, although slightly too salty. Excellent tempura prawns. Meaty flatbread was doughy thick bread rather than flat, not especially meaty, and again salty with ham - really needed a sharp note e.g. chutney, pickles or balsamic onions. Lots of dishes out of stock. Only 2 choices for desert, but great millionaire shortbread.

Nice atmosphere, not ate here before but a nice table, friendly waitress and lovely sharing starters, but mains were a bit disappointing, chips soggy, blind scouse almost totally blind! couple of other gripes but manageable, given it's a pub. I was excited by the jazz band but they played the wrong stuff for a Saturday night city centre venue and sadly the place emptied during their first set and we lost the atmosphere. Would return and always great place for a drink with friends.

This is our third visit to Ma Boyle's within 5 weeks; which says a lot in itself. Being a Saturday it was very busy, but the staff were attentive and helpful. There was a near disaster at the start of the evening; when all the party decorations and cake, that I'd dropped off the night before, couldn't be found. However it was resolved and a complimentary round of drinks by way of an apology, was appreciated. Thank you. Ma Boyle's for a great evening.

Great ambience and atmosphere, food was great only issue was the long wait due to large Christmas party tables. It would have helped if we were correctly advised of waiting times for food, we were rushing during our lunch break.

Really disappointing meal at Ma Boyles, food extremely cols, in fact Yorkshire Pudding wasn't even cooked. We have been to Ma Boyles a few times now, but I'm afraid after this experience we will not be returning again.

At 7.30 pm they had already run out of a lot of dishes on the menu. The waitress was good and frustrated with the menu situation as well as the selfish annoyingly loud group in the pub. We couldn't eat in peace let alone have any sort of dinner conversation without screaming over the noise. We ate and quickly left.

Staff were fantastic but the chef obviously couldn't tell the difference between stale and fresh bread. Fillings were cheap and nasty, think we were given the crap because it was a groupon, very disappointed as it was a lovely pub.

Lovely food and great service just didn't like the crockery! Would much prefer a plate rather than a metal tray that slid on the table when trying to cut food.

Full of atmosphere, character and a fun place to visit. The staff were lovely- friendly and helpful. The food was average at best, the menu is limited especially as quite a few dishes were "off" as they had run out of the ingredients and one person'a fish was inedible and had to be sent back (the replacement was fine). But it was very reasonably priced. We would go back - for the atmosphere and jazz!
