Mala--the food, the staff, the attention to detail...was EXTRAORDINARY. Our group was celebrating a special birthday on the evening of the London Marathon. The day was hot, our table was next to a large and boisterous crowd and we had vegetarians with us and others who were new to the cuisine. Staff immediately sensed our discomfort and moved us. Not only did they provide a complimentary and extraordinary vegetarian appetizer platter, but they continued to offer us a level of service, food and beverage that was, in all ways, superb. Suffice it to say that in a 5-day vacation that included a meal at Ottolenghi, our group voted MALA #1.
very tasty selection of dishes for our group of 8, the dhal was particularly tasty. , nice atmosphere in the restaurant but the service a little slow
The food at the Mala is really fabulous, a treat which we are already looking forward to again. I've scored 4 out of 6 purely because we had a scatty waiter who was rushing round seemingly stressed, we had to remind him to bring us drinks and he also got the order wrong, however, all the other waiters seemed to be coping fine. This did effect our experience.
Lovely food, good sized portions (maybe a bit too big if you're having starters as well - the waiters might tip the customer about that). The waiters were OK, but I wouldn't say I felt particularly welcome there, in the sense that I only got the food I ordered, but no smile or anything. Also, I missed having the complimentary papadums and chutneys you usually get in the beginning at Indian restaurants.
Service was efficient and friendly. Food was good. Lovely atmosphere was lovely and relaxed. We had the fixed price lunch menu which was good value.
Not cheap but good quality and very tasty. Service is very good. Have been there multiple times so would recommend especially as its in such a nice area.
Our family of 6 went for lunch to celebrate dad's birthday. We couldn't have wished for better food or service. A big thank you to staff, especially, Sultan for making dad's birthday special and memorable. We are looking forward to visiting Mala again.
The restaurant in above average but not among the best. Some of the dishes were not well cooked or made. I think the location helps in the foot fall :). They should try and have a more interactive staff who helps people in ordering, explain portion sizes etc.
Fabulous restaurant in a great location. The food was excellent and the service was good. Definitely would recommend to our friends and would certainly go back again!
This is top quality, authentic Indian food. Attentive staff, lovely atmosphere and generous helpings. My favourite Indian in London, can't wait to visit again soon.
Absolutely amazing food and venue with amazing view. The food is absolutely delicious and best of all, represents excellent value especially taking into account the beautiful dream location. We will be visiting again.
We often eat at Mala. Food and service are consistently good. Fantastic meal today and well looked after by Farou. It will remain a favourite !
Great food and service. Nice restaurant. Good location and view. Good gluten free choices all listed separately so easy to see. Offered gluten free bread instead of naan in lunch thali as good will. Thumbs up!
A very good meal and excellent service. We had the vegetarian mixed menu which was plenty of food and a good way to sample their various dishes
Not a very cosy restaurant. We got our 2 glasses of champagne in very ordinary glasses with no fingerfood at all. After a time it got quite cold in the restaurant, in beginning of evening quite noisy out of the kitchen. Food is quite ok although a bit too spicy. Naan was to greasy. Waiters are too posh for this type of restaurant. Neigbourhood is fun but I would skip this restaurant for sure next time!
Lovely as always. We always come here when in London. Staff very nice, food tasty. Location is fab as well. Great for a walk along the Thames.
The food was really good and staff very friendly. Restaurant was really nice and in a good area. Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again.
food was very nice...unpleasant end when we were given a platter of hand wipes at the end of the meal and found a huge dead bug of some sort on it too, waiter was dissmissive but the manager apologised and gave us a free drink....
Brilliant food, ambience and service! Went for lunch and everything was delicious especially the prawn curry starter in tortilla! Would definitely return and next time go for dinner!
Good service and excellent food. Atmosphere and views of St Katherine Dock excellent😌. Would definitely vidiyt again but would arrive a little earlier so you can spend time walking around the local area.
Excellent Indian food, location and atmosphere. Definitely try Thalis theybare the best and biryani. Faruq is the guy who looked after us and simply amazing experience overall
Very nice food, interesting location and friendly and efficient service. Would definitely go back and also would recommend to others. It is a bit more expensive than your standard Indian restaurant, but the food is also better, so had no problem with that.
Different than usual Indian food- which is a plus! Great spices, and tender and juicy meat. Excellent atmosphere and Service was very good. Ended the meal with delicious Irish Coffee. Definitely recommend.
Good gluten and lactose free Indian food in a lovely setting served by attentive staff. Well worth a visit when visiting the South bank attractions
I liked the atmosphere, the food and the service at Mala restaurant. It is in a great location and the food was very good. Although the restaurant was busy, we did not feel rushed.
Great service and fantastic meal at a fare price, this was the first time we have visited the Mala and it won't be the last, service from all the staff are friendly and can't do enough for you like I said great service and food See you soon Mr. Mrs Sneesby
Great location, ambient atmosphere and great food. What more needs to be said the service was attentive and the food was really delicious. A place to enjoy a meal.
Started was fine but the main course was over cooked and unappetising. I have eaten here a number of times and not experienced this before.
Lovely tasty curry, recommend the Cod Tikka, took friends from Germany and the staff were very helpful in explaining all the dishes and the different heat etc
I had been to Mala earlier with office colleagues and this time visited with Family. I must admit the food, ambience and staff treatment both times has been excellent. Bit expensive compared to other Indian restaurants but worth it amso cannot complain.
The service was good, and the starters were very tasty but the mains dishes were disappointing, great ambience and excellent location for a night out in London.
I have been in the evening many times and would normally rate this as s ten . However I went at lunch time and the service was dreadful . After sitting down we were completely ignored and getting our food was painful . The waiter was also unhelpful . This is such a shame as the food was excellent
Great selection of great tasting food, no rushing and will be back for more, love the surroundings at Christmas, perfect for a family meal in London
Expensive for lunchtime. And wasn't the tastiest curry I've had. Shame as with other curry restaurants around I will probably go somewhere else next time.
Good place to celebrate all kinds of occasions, all the staff very warm and welcoming. it is good place to have nice dinners after spectacular view of London bridge and shard and very access to all tourist places.... its strongly recommended
Great Location! Expensive for an Indian ..the gave us the worst table in the restaurant in the middle on the way to the toilette.. but
Good food, service and a great location to dine near to London Bridge 2nd visit to the Mala Indian Restaurant and again wasn't disappointed with the food or the service
Food and venue were great, but the service was a let down. Slow and inattentive. I think they were just overwhelmed even though the restaurant was not fully occupied.
Probably the worst value for money I've experienced. On arrival there were two small children behind the reception desk and no staff who were all sitting in the bar. One eventually came over to us and then told us our table wasn't ready, would we like to go for a drink in the bar. We went to the bar and stood waiting to be served a drink but there was no bar staff and no one came to offer service, we then were told (without having managed to order a drink) that our table was now ready. We got to our table and had to ask 3 times to order some drinks and had to repeat that order twice with the waiter having to take the number of the bottles of wine as he didn't know what they were. Eventually they arrived and we ordered food. I asked if we could have poppadums served with the starters we ordered and I was just told a flat no they would come first! The starters came and they were fine, nothing special but perfectly decent. The waiter started clearing the plates away from some of the table while others were still eating. The mains then came and the food was pretty good but the were no heaters to keep the food warm and it got cold very quickly. Getting a repeat order of drinks was a bit of a farce and took ages. Overall we knew we were going to pay substantially more for an Indian meal because of the location but the service I would have expected at the prices they are charging was not forthcoming. It was more like Fawlty Towers than what we would reasonably expected to be a good meal with quality service levels given the prices are pretty much double every other Indian restaurant.
The food was spicy even when I asked them several times that I cannot eat spicy food, the place has a old look and the chairs were dirty.
