Mala Indian Restaurant

It was fine, a good, solid Indian meal. I'd have given it 5 out 5 if it were cheaper but it was an expensive meal and wasn't *that* good. Happy with the food but slightly over priced, but I guess you pay for the location and St. Katherine's Dock is a beautiful place.

The setting of the restaurant was great, as was the interior. Staff very friendly and the food was delicious. Good vegetarian options and they were able to help with some dietary requirements.

Went with a group of work colleagues. The food was fantastic and very well priced. The staff were very friendly and accommodating even after we had arrived with some additional people. Could not fault our experience there at all.

Nice food but served too quickly. We had planned a nice evening out over a meal, but were in, eaten and paid in 40 minutes. Our mains arrived 10 minutes after arriving and we had not even finished our poppadum's. We felt that the large table of 10 people next to us took priority so even though the food was good and reasonably priced, we would be reluctant to return as our evening out was over within an hour. Service was ok, lots of staff but not very attentive. If you are looking for a romantic meal for 2, this is not the place to go!

Food and service were great but despite the venue being huge it was very narrow and we were pressed against the wall and could not move around

No thanks, very poor attempt at an Indian. Everything about it was poor and the hygiene in the restaurant (especially the bathrooms) was poor. I won't be visiting again!

Service was excellent. Cannot fault that at all. Restaurant location and setting also very nice and romantic. I went for my anniversary as it was recommended by a few other people . However food was a let down. Not enough salt in the prawn puree but i guess each to their own. So i added salt. Bombay aloo however very bland and lack of spices. The starters my husband had gave him an upset stomach. King prawn Biriyani was ok better than the rest but again I've had better at home. Disappointed overall.

Poor service. Waiter had no clue about wines. Not marinated lamb chops with big chunk of fat hanging. I have been there before but this time it was not a good experience.

Very friendly staff and the food was excellent. I would go back anytime I'm in London because I usually live near S:t Katherine Docks and love a great Indian meal, which Mala certainly provides. The location and atmosphere is great too.

Not especially friendly service, but the lunch special (£10 thali) is generous and filling, and very, very tasty. We were seated at the kitchen entrance, which made for interruptions, and the seating wasn't particularly generous in that corner, so request seating elsewhere.

The food was good. The place was neat and pleasant. We were early but was seated right away which saved us time. However, a bit disappointed with our server who did not seem too happy to serve us and did not come to our table to check whether we and the food were ok.

Authentic Indian food, not the "template" version that you get in the rest of London. friendly and warm customer service. Quality of food has always been consistent.

Food as ever was excellent but the service this time was a bit lacking with the waitress's command of English not being of a sufficient standard to understand us when we asked for glasses for the water. Further service was a bit slow and less attentive then on previous occasions

Booked online 2 weeks before event. When we arrived there was some confusion about our table. First we were taken to the main part of restaurant, then we were ushered to a table that was in another part of the restaurant, in a corner, by the kitchen it seemed, but none the less it was a make shift table! Wasn't even laid!! They could see we were not happy. The 4 of us were contemplating leaving, when all of a sudden we were taken back downstairs to main part of restaurant where they miraculously found a table for the 4 of us by the window, and.. decorated with xmas crackers. We ordered popadoms ( which by the way, came without onion salad) and the main meal followed a few minutes later. This was extremely quick! The food was mediocre and sub- standard, it all tasted as if it was a microwaveable meal. We asked numerous times for water, and also had to ask for the table to be cleared. The service was very poor and the waiters were very miserable. When we received our bill, the waiter told us that for our inconvenience he would cross of the service charge... I would have much preferred a free drink at the end of our meal... which is the norm anyway in all our local indian restaurants we go to. Mala has a LOT to learn. Wont be going again!!

Good environment , nice Indian food. Had a very good time there. And the location is quite good too. I would recommend it to others

Very average, glasses on the table were not clean although we had beer so these were removed. Waiting staff did what they needed to do but did not seem happy. Would we go back, probably not we can have a reasonable indian closer to home.

Excellent food. Great location. Internet reservation made without any problems. Children (three) catered for according to our needs. Restaurant very busy but service was good.

very nice place and atmosphere. Staff very friendly. Unfortunately, did not enjoy the food. Was accompanied by Indian guest who was definitely not impressed by the quality of the dishes.

Five of us had a pleasant evening and all enjoyed our food. Staff were all helpful and friendly and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to family and friends.

Nice location, really good, flavoursome food, efficient staff. Nice buzzy atmosphere on a Saturday night. Would recommend the chicken pakora, and the Karahi murgh was delicious.

Good quality indian food, good service, a little pricey for the 'experience', the decor is very average. Not a destination to head back to but perfectly good.

Staff friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. Indian dining with a twist as I had not heard of some of the dishes. Will definitely return.

LOVELY MEAL FOR MY SONS 50TH, VIEW AND SERVICE WAS SPOT ON, BOOKED TO GO BACK ALREADY. WOLD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY

The location is fantastic with the boats moored just outside, the outside of the restaurant is stunning and the decor inside is just as good. The food was first class, all the dishes we tried were prepared and spiced perfectly. We will definitely visit here again the next time we stay in London

Nice location, the venues was ok but looks a little tired, as in the toilets need to be refurbished.... Starters were ok but not the best.... mains were very nice. Staff are not great, they need training on how to actually do what they are supposed to do. they take forever to do stuff like getting the bill and keep getting the orders wrong... The place needs a more professional approach...

We had a very nice meal and evening as always, but were slightly disappointed as we did not sit in the area of the restaurant we had requested.

The restaurant has a great location and good ambience.We didn't have a bar staff available to make our cocktails and there were some errors in getting what we ordered.Saying that staff were very pleasant and overall food was good.

No cocktail waiter so wasn't able to have a cocktail. The food was okay though pretty ordinary and the restaurant was very noisy, unfortunate acoustics.

We are a group of Indian food fanatics, we are amateur Indian food chefs, but have been on courses at top restaurants . We go to Mala 3 or 4 times a year, its always excellent, But this December they excelled and the food was absolutely top, as always the service was good and the price is really good for this level of quality

Went to celebrate friends 50th Birthday.Best indian meal we have had.Great location service was great.Would recommend this place for a special night out.We ate early was very busy late on.

Brilliant experience. . Throughly enjoyed the food . The Thali food was great .. so much food .. We ended up taking some home .. views of the docks were amazing

Location beautiful, service great, waiters helpful, but the food - didn't like and portions very small. The food very oily and not well presented. Wouldn't be visiting again.

Good food in a lovely part of the city. The staff were a bit rushed off their feet. Took ages to get them to notice us when we needed something. when they did it was fine.

We have enjoyed nice taste, nice view and nice wine selection. This restaurant is really good for group dinner. Vegitable curry plate which I have ordered was amaizingly greate.

Food was great and service was good. Only reason why I'm not rating as 6 is because the waiters mixed up our order with the one from another table and there were a few minutes of confusion where we could see our food was ready (on a serving table) but the waiters had no idea which table had ordered it, they even asked a different table if our order was theirs. It was still a good experience and I will probably go back again in the future.

Large, comfortable restaurant in lovely surroundings. Although I enjoyed my meal, it was not what I expected as there was no sauce served with my chicken tika. Nevertheless I will definitely be returning to Mala in the future.

Food was good except for a fish dish which was overcooked. Service slow, staff inattentive for a relatively quiet evening.

Excellent food and service. We were pleased with the quality of each dish. Everything was very fresh. Not like some Indian restaurants where the food tastes like it was made in advance.

Very expensive for what it was. No menu given for some time seated. Disappointed given beautiful location.

Dissapointed, the food appeared to have the same taste over 2 mains and s side, the starters were a tad better but only just. The food was warm to the touch, ate under half that we ordered, we expected better. Restaurant looked good. Would not recommend.

Only offered the lunchtime menu which was very limited (4 options). Only afterwards we were told that a normal menu was also available. Quite pricey too. Nice location and good service though. Very quiet at lunchtimes only a few tables occupied.

Great food as always. Service also goo. One slightly annoying thing is that when the waiters or waitresses pour wine they tend to manage to empty a bottle in two glasses!
