There’s a strong neighbourhood feel to Mulberry St Bar/Bistro, but the menu is more like a trip around the world than a saunter down the road in Glasgow. One of the coolest spots in southside Glasgow, Mulberry St Bar/Bistro is one part bar and one part restaurant, so boasts a mouth-watering food menu alongside an inspired and carefully curated drinks list. Whether for lunch, dinner or drinks, it’s impossible to imagine somebody not finding something they’ll love on the long, international menu, so Mulberry St Bar/Bistro is ideal for groups. Please note, however, that it is not on Mulberry St but rather Pollokshaws Road, right by Queen’s Park in the heart of the Southside.
With cosy booths, leather-topped stools and stylish wooden panels, Glasgow’s Mulberry St Bar/Bistro nails the balance between rustic charm and modern elegance. The beer selection is incredibly impressive, with quality European ales, local brews and an ever-changing selection of special draughts on tap, though the food is what really shoots Mulberry St Bar/Bistro above other Southside establishments, covering everything international from sizzling Mexican fajitas to classic cod and chips to Thai yellow curry.
Try for example, their homage to Glasgow in the form of Stornoway black pudding and poached egg on a bed of spinach topped with hollandaise to begin, before a main of Mulberry salmon and smoked haddock fishcakes with chips and salad, king prawn spaghetti with chilli, basil and lemon notes or Mulberry St Bar/Bistro’s signature steamed mussels with white wine and garlic cream tomato and sweet chilli, Thai sauce that will truly blow you away. You’ll find Mulberry St Bar/Bistro along Pollokshaws Road in Southside. Bookings are essential.
New management, new menu and same great food and service. It would be hard to beat the warm welcome and personal service we always enjoyed at The Mulberry but we weren’t disappointed with the newly opened Stag and Thistle. We were made to feel very welcome, nothing was a problem and we were well looked after. It was my son’s 6th birthday and his choice of restaurant - he’s a harsh critic and he was impressed so it retains its status as a go to restaurant for family celebrations!
Great little restaurant. Current owner/manager very attentive. Good atmosphere and busy. Food very good. Have visited several times and it never fails to deliver. Understand will soon be under new ownership but hope it retains its ambience.
The restaurant was very clean and classy! All staff were lovely and very accommodating it is honestly one of the friendliest places I have visited. Our waiter was nothing but polite all evening and so was the owner of the restaurant. The menu was quite varied and I had a lovely meal, it was also very affordable and extremely good value for money. I will definitely be back I had a wonderful time.
