Norte by grupo bilbao berria are connoisseurs of authentic, creative and vibrant Spanish tapas. This exquisite St James restaurant is stunning – details like the birdcage-style dining space with gorgeous light fixtures and charming table settings alongside the restaurant’s adventurous gastronomy are what make Norte by grupo bilbao berria the unique culinary jewel that it is. The muse of this London favourite is Northern Spain, and you’ll find traces of the region’s spectacular culture and landscape in every dish. Norte has created a seasonal menu, that in true Spanish style, is made for sharing. We recommend selecting from a range of tapas like the carpaccio de bacalao, espárragos a la plancha or secreto iberico or something from their brasa y fuego charcoal grill, a name that translates to ‘ember and fire’.

Excellent food and great service. I will definitely go again on my next visit to London. Best Spanish Restaurant in London and relax atmosphere !
The food was very Spanish and tasty, the wines were excellent with some rarities difficult to find in London and the staff was very kind.
OMG! So in love with this restaurant! Decoration and location are amazing. Being basque myself I don´t get impressed easly but the cod carpaccio literally knocked me off! Service was also super friendly. Can´t wait to go back! =)
always good at bilbao berria but we miss tapas as in barcelona. You got to serve it too in London. This is something unique and so delicious.
The food was excellent and atmosphere very nice with the lighting etc in the restaurant downstairs, the menu had a very good choice of options including pigeon, fish and pork belly. However it felt like the waiter was rushing us to choose drinks and then immediately food before we could enjoy our first drinks, although the table would not have been needed again that evening due to the time of reservation and there were other tables available - so that was a shame when we were trying to have a more relaxed meal and seemed unnecessary throughout the meal. It was a very nice place to meet friends and celebrate a special occasion. The sea bass ceviche and paella were great and the desserts had some unique flavours like strawberry soup and basil sorbet and a chilli chocolate dessert, they were all delicious.
We had an early lunch at Bilbao Berria. It was delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend it for lunch or pre-theatre drinks and nibbles.
Great food and kind staff although slow. They accommodated a gluten free version of a dish for me which I very much appreciated. However, they were clearly understaffed and my food didn't come at the same time as the rest. After waiting several minutes in which I had to encourage my party to start eating without me, I ended up asking what happened with my order. They apologised and brought it fairly quickly after I asked, but it was cold, it had clearly been waiting for long time to be picked up.
I love Spanish food and Bilbao Beria has the ultimate ambiance and decor that makes the food experience all the more pleasant. On top of it the location is ideal for a quick meal before the theatre
Really nice place. Cool atmosphere, good wine and excellent food. Took the cold meat platter and the cheese platter, both very good, only the cheese platter was a little too small. Service was nice too, quick and attentive. I definitely will go back.
Friendly and excellent service, interesting and very good wine list and genuine kitchen in a rustique but trendy and peaceful setting - exactly what we wanted a chilly October Saturday in a crowded London.
Good atmosphere complimented excellent food and service. The food had a regional bias towards the cooking of Northern Spain and it was presented in great style. A good but rather expensive wine list.
This was my second visit and I was glad that everything was consistently good. The food was very tasty, reasonable value and selection of dishes. The ambience was relaxed and not too noisy. Service was friendly, attentive and efficient.
Great staff great food and great experience! Just be aware that apparently when you make a reservation it's for the downstairs a la carte not the upstairs tapas dining. Would definitely recommend.
The atmosphere was lovely, the food was delicious, the wine was delicious and the seating is incredibly comfortable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone and would definitely come here again.
Lovely atmosphere and friendly service - tapas dishes were good but we ordered one of the specials (Hake Tempura) which was just pure salt and spoilt the experience a little. Management however did not charge for this dish, and we came away with an overall good experience.
The atmosphere and service left a little to be desired. We came early before theatre when it was quite empty but we're able to sit on a bigger comfier table which remained empty throughout our meal. The food and wine were very good, particularly the steak.
This was my fourth visit to Bilbao but this first time that I have had a meal other than tapas. This was up to my expectations and in line with the excellent wines and relaxing atmosphere
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were made to feel at home and they were knowledgeable about both the food and the wine. The food was perfect.
Have been to Bilbao Berria quite a few times over the last 2 years. Unfortunately the menu has been dramatically reduced and so has the quality and service. Shame!
Loved it, but a little too pricey. Good atmosphere, live music, friendly staff, overall a very enjoyable night. I would definitely recommend the place for a chill night
Genuine spanish food in a cozy atmosphere and with very good service. Vale for money is certainly another positive point for this restaurant...We will be back very soon!!
Beautiful and unusual decor, warm welcome, very friendly staff. The jamón serrano is cut on demand and it melted in the mouth...The dishes we shared were all delicious. Very good wine menu.
very nice restaurant , girl at door friendly and welcoming , will return again soon , with family and will probably recommend this restaurant to others
Just as a comment, there is no Ribera del Duero wine but the food was excelent and the service very friendly with us. The singers and the music were lovely!!
Lovely spanish food and staff!! Wonderful place in Picadilly. Tapas paella and jamón. Spanish wines. You should visit this restaurant. I Love it. Thank you
The food is superb, the people working there are very nice and the location is perfect. Also the decorations are modern, I would recommend it
The food is simply amazing! A mix of basque and spanish food. The best basque restaurant in London. Staff really friendly, good atmosphere in the restaurant. The decoration is awesome.
Great Spanish foo experience, with a minor Asian influence. Proportionate selection of Spanish wines. Quiet atmosphere downstairs on a Monday night. Attentive service. Kitchen in sight but no noise/fumes.
Excellent Spanish tapas dishes and 'personal muy votos' in a location of sanctuary just yards from the hubbub of Picadilly circus. Looking forward to our next visit.
Good atmosphere, excellent food, good service with a smile. The tapas portions are actually quite decent and the wine selection good. Happy to go back again.
Good service attentive staff The atmosphere is is lovely the tapas were delicious and generous portions as were the main courses Would definitely be going back
Good atmosphere, nice fit out and a lovely range of food - amazing how quickly it fills you up. A great place to go with friends
Taste was good and the atmosphere is too perfect for only four men to spend time. Risotto might be a bit too salty for British people.
Really good food and friendly staff. We're not rushed and given the time to enjoy the evening. Great place will come again. Try the croquettes ;)
The restaurant was empty apart from us. The food was good. The waitress was on her second day. It was an odd experience. I wondered whether we had entered a parallel universe.
Great atmosphere, good location, last but not least the food, amazing!! If you want to pass a great night, you must go at bilbao berria
nice Valnetines evening, food was nice classic Spanish tapas, service bit slow but that because they looked understaff.Overall good atmoshphere, clean and busy,i will definitly come back.ssf f
A bit pricey, but good food and service. Nice atmosphere too, and the staff are incredibly friendly. The steak was excellent, as was the tapas.
Good service, nice finger foods, delicious wines (especially for the variety of Spanish bottles). A great pick for a cosy atmosphere in this busy location.
Nice decor but food very ordinary and over-priced. Plate of cured meats with two tiny bits of Iberico but lots of the cheaper salamis for £16. Same for a few bits of cheese on a board. Four slices of inferior quality baguette for £2.50. Went there before and it was fine. It's gone downhill though it seems. Wouldn't go there again....
I don't like the changes in the menu. The old was better. Also, everyday is less quantity in the portions for the money that the food cost. Quality still good.
It was nice food, but not a very trained staff. The service are not to the price level of the food. A nice restaurant in a good location
Good location, good food but bit pricey. They have changed the menu so upstairs you only can have tapas and downstairs you have a menu more elaborated.
Service was slow and our desert order was forgotten. Staff also didn't know what non-alcoholic drinks were available. It was also quite empty yet they chose to sit a loud couple right next to us.
Attended for dinner one Friday evening. A little quiet. Good food but a little expensive. Nice surroundings and the location is central. Overall it was okay
Beautiful restaurant, immaculately clean cutlery, great service, excellent starters and dessert. Perfect for a pre-show meal, as the Theater Royal is just up the road.
Food was good but miniscule portions and very expensive. Wine by the glass at £10 per 125ml outrageous. Some dubious experimental ideas such as quinoa tartare not successful. People mostly very welcoming and helpful. First person we spoke to had no record of my booking.
A pleasant meal with good service. Unfortunately steaks were overdone. Medium was well done and dry. They were replaced. Service was a little slow but the waitress was very helpful.
Some really nice dishes but some were FAR too salty, especially the pan con tomate, and the service was very patchy - they forgot to bring a few things.
The food was nice and a little different from the usual tapas (though definitely nothing like Bilbao) but over priced. Service was fine but a little pretentious.
