This is not your regular Indian restaurant as they offer dishes from 29 states and this is what makes it so interesting. The food is first class as is the service. Will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes on the menu

Great food, reasonable service. We booked a table for 19:15 on a Saturday night. On arrival we were told that our table was required at 21:00. This seemed pretty reasonable however the starters and mains both took a while to arrive, so much so that we didn't vacate the table until 21:15. The restaurant is new and the staff are obviously still learning but I strongly suggest that they focus more on the speed of service than making customers feel that they need to get out of tables as the reality is that if we hadn't needed to wait so long for our food we would have been out at least half an hour earlier. The food was worth the wait so I hope the issues we experienced were just teething issues for a new restaurant.

Excellent food, brilliant service, nice overall atmosphere in the middle of Clifton Village in Bristol. A different type of Indian restaurant, not your regular curry house.

Great food & service & love the decor of the restaurant. Small issue as I was given a Chicken dish & told it was the vegetarian one - just teething problems I guess.

Best Indian restaurant in Bristol! Amazing flavours, authentic and creative dishes, not your run-of-the-mill red curries that all have basically the same sauce. Fantastic crispy naan breads. Good portions. Great service. Can't fault it.

Hi liked the look of the restaurant, it was cool and funky and the staff were pleasant and attentive. (the bathrooms need an upgrade) The menu was authentic Indian, with no concession to old style Indian restaurants. The food came from all over India and the range of food included Lamb, Seafood, Chicken and Beef with a smaller range of veg dishes. As for the taste it was very very close to the food you would eat in India or at some London places. Would go again

Generally a good experience and the staff are lovely, meat to rice ratio of these biryanis was disappointing. Would eat there again though and try something else

Very confused staff, forgot part of our order so it arrived 15 mins after rest of the meals and they just didn't even apologise, just pretended that it is normal. Also not very child friendly

The atmosphere and staff were pleasant, but the food was expensive for what you got... menu trying too hard and some of the execution wasn't great

The food was fantastic, but the service was a litle haphazard. I'm sure this was purely because its a new restaurant though, and will bno doubt improve with time. We will be back!

Lovely ambience and superb food. The cocktails were good too. The Dahl was one of the best l've had in the uk and is always my test of the authenticity of an Indian restaurant. We'll be back!

Food was ok, not the best Indian I've had. I was expecting the food to be amazing. Small portions and very expensive. Service was also very slow, had to keep asking for our drinks to be topped up. Have waited a long time to come to your restaurant and overall was very disappointed.

Excellent food - great depth of flavours, well presented, not overwhelmingly sized portions. Finally an Indian restaurant in Clifton with some subtlety. My only point of issue would be that the noise level is quite high - an outcome of hard, modern surfaces. We will certainly recommend this restaurant and return.

Food was excellent, a step up from your average Indian restaurant, more reminiscent of a top notch London venue. Hard walls and ceilings mean ambient noise levels are high, but the food more than made up for it, and good value too.

Aug 2017. Excellent meal. I'm a veggie (the husband is pescatarian) and apparently the king prawn biryani was one of the best biryanis he's had (and he's no stranger to a decent restaurant). My paneer khaki was pretty awesome too. Lovely staff and cosy ambience. Would definitely recommend to others and return next time we're in Bristol.

I have a love for Indian Restaurants that above all else stay true to Indian food. All too often the word Indian is associated with Anglo-Indian curry houses and traditional takeaways. Nutmeg takes traditional Indian foods from a variety of regions and showcases them with as minimal adjustment as possible to a Western market. It does so splendidly, and without fault. The restaurant itself is beautiful in its location and decor. The staff are friendly, courteous and genuinely seem happy to be there, no easy task in such an industry. I cannot fault the place. Easily the best in Bristol, and rivalled only by food I have had from within India.

Not bad. Went as a couple. Sat downstairs. Tables way too close so a little uncomfortable. Service a little slow. Food good quality but pricey. Will try other restaurants before returning.

This was our first visit after hearing some very good reviews and we were not disappointed. Our group all likes a good curry and found the options here really interesting and we got some great assistance from our waitress. The fish especially was superb. We have yet to return but we are hoping to soon.

Fantastic, authentic Indian food, great service and a nice atmosphere. There is also a good drinks and cocktails list which is unusual for an Indian restaurant. Highly recommended and a real treat.
