Our first visit and not one we are likely to repeat. We were seated upstairs which in itself wasn’t a problem, however, there was no heating apart from a small electric heater which was turned off and with the kitchens upstairs they had clearly got the windows or a door open and you could feel the cold blowing through. The young girl serving us was pleasant enough but didn’t seem to be coping particularly well and rather than laying the cutlery on the table she chose to pass the them from the end of the table and the same happened when the food arrived. The food was ok but not exceptional. Overall with the excellent reviews I had read prior to our visit I expected more.

As always, the food was great. The staff were kind and very welcoming. Looking forward to going back again very soon.

Our favourite place for food. Always absolutely perfect. Visit only spoilt by obnoxiously loud woman on the next table, due to the closeness of the tables, literally sat back to back, there was no getting away from it. Usually we would stay longer for cocktails after the meal and have more drinks during but due to her we ate quickly and left. Not a reflection on the staff or food.

Amazing food. Been there several times and always surprises us how good it is. We live an hour away and well worth the journey!

We had booked many weeks in advance as Wednesday night is understandably very popular because of the pound ounce offering. As a visit was one week before Christmas we understood that we would encounter a very busy situation which indeed we did. Nevertheless, we received immediate reception from.staff who promptly got us a drink from the bar while stay researched our booked table. We were offered a choice of waiting a short while further or going to an alternative table and we chose the latter. We had shared Chateaubriand which was superb. All of the accompanying food was equally good as were the desserts. The service throughout was fantastic. The staff were most pleasant and attentive at all times. The establishment is clearly incredibly well managed and organised which makes a refreshing change from our previous experiences at this restaurant when under previous management. Yes – because it was Christmas week and very busy – it was noisy and a bit too hot. Nevertheless, it was a great experience and a pleasant surprise too. Highly recommended.

A week before Christmas and the place was packed , the service was friendly and welcoming, the food was good , it was once again a great experience, you’ve done it again Kate , merry Christmas to you and the team .

Sat next to a table of men who constantly swore and had a stream of visitors from outside. Spoilt the evening, table staff said they were regulars and they would have a word with them next time they were in. Was so much looking forward to it too.

Steak amazing as ever. Reasonable price for the £1 per Ounze steak. Had to ask for tap water and no spoon with coffee. Minor details.

If you haven’t tried the lunchtime menu then you are missing a treat. The food, as usual, is first class, the service is second to none and the prices are very reasonable.

We love Ounce, scoring it down today, as my wife ordered a medium steak and it was when I finished off the last bit it was clear it was well done. Her fault for not saying anything, but I could not have eaten a steak like that as I have MR, mine was great, but hmmm not the wifes

Lovely food and really good service. Not intrusive or bothersome but always attentive to any needs. Steak was cooked perfectly and very well seasoned. Only minor point was we had not realised there was a maximum stay time, it may have been mentioned on booking and I may have missed it. It wasn’t an issue and the staff were very polite in pointing out they needed the table but a reminder on booking might have helped out very chatty table to focus!

We had a decent meal but was let down by poor service. Staff not attentive at all, despite being very quiet. Had to seek out staff twice rather than actually being waited on.

Sat outside in the garden area, very pleasant, always great service and good quality steak. Great selection of wine to choose from too.

A Christmas party night out with friends and Ounce didn’t disappoint, excellent tasty food, great service even when super busy, a real treat!

A birthday meal out with the family and great food, as always the food was exemplary to go with the excellent service, plenty of nice choices off the menu.

As always this is a great venue with a menu at a very reasonable price. Would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone.
