Meal before theatre. Had two meals from Pre-theatre menu very good value. One meal from main menu.

First time here Definitely would go again price’s not too bad

We ordered garlic bread as a side dish to be told when receiving the mains that they were having issues with the ovens so it would be a little longer. Next thing, we were told that we would not have the garlic bread and it would be deducted from the bill. No real apology or even offering an alternative. Staff for the duration of our time there seemed stressed and not on the ball. We had our plates whisked away once we had finished, no offer to see the dessert menu, did we need any other drinks etc. Very rarely do I leave a restaurant having only had a main - no sides, starter or dessert. We felt like we had half a meal. Staff didn't bother asking how we found the food when we asked for the bill. It seemed they just wanted you gone. We didn't feel welcomed at all. Even before the oven issue, staff seemed disinterested. I wouldn't return

There was an issue with the ovens, we had garlic bread that was so crispy it was like a biscuit. We sent it back and we never received garlic mushrooms we ordered or our second round of drinks. We had to get cutlery from another table as nobody bought us any when requested. The member of staff looking after us was lovely, she apologised for the problems. It was not the best night I've ever had there. Hopefully, it was a one off.

We arrived early before the kitchen was even open. A friendly face greeted us and asked if we had a reservation. Then we were shown to our table. A lovely evening, thank you.

The food was excellent and really good value for the prices. The staff were lovely and helpful. The venue is absolutely stunning. We definitely recommend here and we will be returning soon

We visited on Saturday lunchtime, which was quiet but the music was appropriate and at the correct level. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We chose calzone and were advised of a wait which we appreciated.

Really great Italian restaurant with a good menu! Wallpaper was falling off a little in some places but other than that, great.

it was very busy food was ok however we asked prior to our meal arriving if we could order more drinks and we didnt get any one take our drink order untill we had nearly finished our meal so ended up cancelling the drinks as they still hadn't arrived by the time we had finished our food appeared to be only one person behind the bar and one person who could take the drinks order. they were very understanding when we cancelled our drink order

Went to Portifino before the theatre, had the 2 course menu which was great value and quality. Staff were lovely and friendly! Would defo go back.

Food was excellent, but every time the door got opened which was a lot it was very drafty on my back and I didn't want to sit there have my meal with my coat on. Wish I asked for a different table but they were busy when we got seated

It was a pleasant meal, although the menu had changed, and there was less choice than on our previous visits. The food was good, but not quite as special as we had hoped. Nevertheless, it was fine, and I think we will return, as many other diners had done, because overall, with good service and a buzz in the restaurant it was an enjoyable evening.

This was our first visit to Portofino, we were visiting Stoke on our canal boat. We booked on line and based on the availability we wondered if we might be dining alone. We couldn't have been more wrong, very busy restaurant with a large group from a local business. The restaurant staff coped well with the high occupancy on a midweek night. We enjoyed our meals, and were very impressed with the front of house staff

We had never visited before, but with the Regent Theatre booked for 7.30 we thought we'd try it as it is so close. As soon as we walked in we felt comfortable even thought we were the first diners there, good ambience, lovely decoration and we were greeted immediately by a very friendly lady. The seating was nice and enclosed like a booth, our drinks then food orders arrived quite quickly - each dish we ordered was so delicious (bruschetta and a mushroom dish for starters, then the duck and also cannelloni main courses, profiteroles for dessert). We didn't feel rushed at any time and the waiting staff checked on us when needed without being intrusive. The whole experience was positive in every way, thank you Portofino, we'll be back!
