Lovely staff and excellent food, would certainly recommend the Red Onion

Completely loved our meal. As good a meal as I've had anywhere, well done chefs!

Came here after a recommendation and I'll be having words with them. On arriving we were told where our table was (upstairs) and not shown to it which we thought was weird. Table smelled like it had been wiped with an unclean cloth, the speakers had a layer of dust over them and the whole place, certainly upstairs needs a lick of paint. To be honest we should have just left. The food from the set menu was poor. The Steak was tiny and fatty, half was left, the chips were frozen chips, the sauces all tasted like they came out of a packet and the fishcake was massive but very unappealing, tasted okay but the Veloute with it was just strange and cheap tasting. Wine was nice. Everything else was awful.

Having been there before, absolutely wonderful ,will return again, Merci!

Sunday roast was great quality and quantity. Excellent food. Service was good, but not quite as friendly as I've experienced in Red Onion before. Desserts (apple crumble and chocolate brownie) were quite disappointing and not a high end to the meal. The brownie was not fudgy and was just chocolate cake. The promised honeycomb ice-cream just tasted like plain vanilla. Overall I'd give the Sunday roast 5/5 and desserts 2/5

Really nice food. However £8 for apple crumble is far too much. Mostly just biscuit crumbs !

We had a lovely meal,french onion soup was excellent and main course of pork potatoes bravis was excellent, definitely worth a visit and definitely worth a return.

We had the Sunday Roast. It was very good. Roast beef and all the trimmings. Of course we had a bottle of wine to wash it down. 😂 One of the group had the frozen raspberries and hot white chocolate sauce. That went down a treat. So did the lacquer coffee. We intend going back to try other things. 👍

Food always reliable and very tasty. In parts could maybe do with a refurbishment, but always a fab, comfortable and yummy visit.

Fast and excellent service, charming setting until all the bus groups arrived. GOAT cheese salad was excellent as was curry. The bass on Caesar had little to no flavor and way too much dressing.

We were early for our reservation so were able to leave before the tour buses arrived so it was a quiet, pleasant dining experience. We did a fixed price menu and my French onion soup and wild mushroom risotto were both out of this world.

Couldn’t fault it. The Sunday Roast was delicious and piping hot. The crumble with hidden custard was yummy!!!

Staff are efficient and friendly even though on a busy Saturday they delivered good service. Very satisfied with the food, tasty, hot enough, good portion.

Beautiful setting, polite ,friendly helpful staff, amazing food and large portions. Retirement celebration and staff were attentive as appropriate and there was no issue with sitting chatting for a bit after our meal. I highly recommend Red Onion.

Brilliant from start to finish. I’ve been there a number of times now and every time I have been super impressed. My only complaint is that the food is too good and I can’t help myself from eating dessert! Brilliant place to go :)

Meal was good but half a carrot and one piece of broccoli. Roast potatoes needed extra 10 minutes in the oven. Small Yorkshire pudding. All these things are cheap to produce so a bigger Yorkshire and a bit more vegetables and people would be impressed

Really enjoyed our meal My husband loved the duck and thought it was beautifully prepared . His vanilla cheesecake was beautifully light and he said it was the best cheesecake he had ever eaten . I loved the Bang bang chicken , it was tender with lovely crispy noodles and very tasty vegetables . Would definitely visit again .

fabulous food, as always. Starter was too much for dining companion. It was supposed to be soup, but was so thick it was a meal in itself! lol. Note to restaurant, less is more!! But restaurant gave us the remainder to go! Wine far too expensive!!
