Food was incredible no doubt about it! Only reason the top rating hasn’t been awarded, is due to the decor being a little tired and ‘rough around the edges’. Wouldn’t be put off coming back but a little TLC would make all the difference.

Great menu…all the old favourites still there…and great food. A very enjoyable experience…as always!!

Do not miss an opportunity to dine here. Chef Quigley and his team truly care about providing you with an amazing dining experience. Standouts for our meal were the Thai spiced monkfish and 5 spiced tamarind glazed duck - both were spectacular!

Lovely atmosphere and seafood. Friendly owner and staff. If we lived nearby, we would come weekly.

As always, a visit to The Red Onion never disappoints! There was a bus load of diners that arrived just after us, however this made no impact on our dining experience which in any other establishment would have been sure to mess with things. Love, love, love the The Red Onion team - true professionals :)

I visited the restaurant with an Itison voucher. We were greeted and shown to our seats by a lovely, friendly female member of staff. Service was good and food was delicious.

Great menu with variety for us and for our daughter's who are vegan The puddings were especially good

Red Onion has always been a favourite with us. Delicious food , friendly and helpful waiting staff and good value.

We purchased an itison voucher a few weeks ago and it was great to come and sample some great food off the lunchtime menu and upgrade our meal to make even better value for money

We had the most wonderful meal at The Red Onion. The food, service and atmosphere where amazing. We couldn’t fault the whole experience and will definitely be back. I wish more restaurants were like this one. A wee Scottish Restaurant that should be very proud - a great Chef and a wonderful team. Food was ok. Service was fine. However we got a table next to a draughty window and when we asked to move we’re told a questionable story. Table next to us who came in as we were finishing also complained about the window and were moved. Not sure what happened there. Won’t be back until the window is fixed

Really enjoyed a tasty lunch of french onion soup, blade of beef and steak fries washed down with a delicious Romania wine yesterday. Service was first class and loved the decor. A beautiful restaurant.

Another lovely pre-theatre meal at Red Onion. I was unavoidably late by 10 minutes ( which I apologised for) and my friend was already inside, but I was welcomed warmly by a cheerful waitress which I very much appreciated. Beautiful meal, excellent friendly and efficient service and a nice buzz in the restaurant from the other happy diners. I cannot fault Red Onion in any way. The staff are particularly LOVELY. Can’t wait to come back.

The food was delicious, The service was top tier and it had a great atmosphere. What more could you ask for.

Food was amazing, as was the ambience. Owner and chef came out and spoke to all his customers to ensure they were enjoying their meal. A very personal touch.

As always, friendly service and great food. Used a voucher for a 2 course meal each but added drinks and extra dishes.

Starter of pate and oatcakes was delicious but could have done with a bit of dressing over the rocket. Steak frittes was disappointing as steak was fatty and chewy. My husband enjoyed his blade of beef. First time I've not enjoyed The Red Onion.
