Welcome was reasonably efficient & table was reasonable (a long way from toilets). Food was pleasant enough but nothing spectacular. However, when ordering a bottle of white wine one would expect it to be cold or if nit then perhaps the ice bucket might have been (neither was the case). Service was average, we do not expect to visit it again.😒

Food was great, just felt the main course could have been a more generous portion. This is the only slight issue with my visit.

The bang bang chicken salad and goats cheese starters were delicious. The mains were excellent too. Lovely restaurant and they had the log fire lit to give a great atmosphere, and warmth, on the very wet Saturday. Will be back to try the other dishes!

Disappointing after previous fantastic visits. We were asked to order about 2 minutes after being given menus, then left for a further 15 minutes before anyone came back to see if we were ready. We weren't checked in on after we were brought our main course, nor were we asked if we wanted more drinks- which we did. We waited a long time for dessert to be brought out (over 20 minutes) and it was cold when it should have been hot. They did offer a fresh dessert and refunded the price when we said no, but it just felt like it wasn't important and we got the impression from the server that problems like this were a regular occurrence. The main courses were lovely, but the whole experience didn't match previous visits.

Attentive but unobtrusive service. Superbly conceived and well executed dishes. A nice chat with the chef patron. Will definitely return.

I had the risotto which wasn’t great, not much flavour and “garnish” showed signs of being under the heat lamp for a while. My wife had the fish cake and she was very happy with her dish. I had the brownie to finish which was very good as was the apple crumble. All in all definitely worth a visit.

We booked on the day and received a lovely welcome. There was plenty of choice on the menu (some very creative ideas too) and the food was delicious as well as being good value. I had the liver parfait and the roast chicken and enjoyed every mouthful.

I am a visitor to Glasgow and was looking for a restaurant to meet an old friend to catch up . I found the Red Onion and couldn’t have done any better . It has a great atmosphere but the seating is such you can have quiet conversations , the service is excellent and the food too . We had the lunch menu which was excellent value and would love to come back for dinner - a really pleasant experience !
