An intimate little restaurant seating no more than 25 which allows Stefano to take excellent care of you while his lovely wife prepares the delicious food. The Pescepada Al siciliana (sicilian swordfish) was amazing and the garlic and chilli fried beans are a perfect accompaniment for pretty much every main course. Bravo bravo

Very good evening food was lovely, just very hot as no air conditioning.

Not our favourite restaurant. Cocktails were good and reasonably priced. Food was ok nothing special though. Chairs were hard and not very comfortable.

I have given up writing reviews about restaurants but I feel I must make an exception in this case. Route 5 is more of a trattoria than a ristorante and the relaxed atmosphere combined with a menu containing dishes not usually seen in Italian restaurants in Southend. The house wine is reasonable quality and good value and the cocktail menu is worth exploring. We will return.
