Shebeen - Morrison Street

Food was excellent. Iv had the peppermint crisp dessert every time iv been to shebeen but was disappointed with it this time because I think that they have changed it slightly. We were left waiting a while for the empty plates and glasses to be cleared from our table. Apart from those issues everything was excellent.

Service was excellent and so was the food. Not overly expensive for steaks. It was my second time and I will come back again. No complaints.

True south African food and dessert. Portions are big so come hungry. They also serve SA beer. Service is quick and yee staff friendly, more than happy to take questions and have a chat.

Absolutely perfect experience. The restaurant is cute, the food is delicious, and there are multiple South African wines on the menu. We had a wonderful time.

Lovely meal and superb service. Nice relaxed atmosphere and not rushed at all. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great steak dinner. Our waitress, Laura, was superb.

Doesn't look like much from the outside but lovely and cosy inside. The steaks were really tasty and the portions were massive. Great value for money. Make sure you have a Dom Pedro for dessert! I'm South African and spotted the Castle sign outside so decided to look it up online and that's how we ended up going there.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. I'm never disappointed at Shebeen, it's one of my favourite places to go. Following a low/ no carb diet the steaks with just salad are perfect and the steak is delicious!

Service was excellent, meat prepared to perfection. Atmosphere lively but relaxed. The malva pudding dessert was wonderful, but not sure why ice cream/cream is not served to compliment such a rich, sweet dessert. To their credit, they added this foc on request. An enjoyable evening, this may well become a regular venue - excellent value for money.

Friendly staff and tasty food! They were happy to offer assistance and recommend dishes. Huge portions so come hungry :) we highly recommend this restaurant!

Steaks were not as good as they may seem - some was tough and over cooked . . not good value for money. Authentic bokke place

Gorgeous food, friendly atmosphere, lots of choice if you are a meat lover. No kids menu and limited choices for kids (luckily ours had been to a birthday party earlier and would eat chicken wings but just one or two other more recognisable kid friendly options would have been appreciated).

Always friendly, willing to help. Food is cooked to how you like it. Well informed staff which helps when ordering. Brilliant atmosphere in the place.

Great food. Great service. Liked the decor and atmosphere too. The maitre d / waitress (owners wife) was intuitively excellent at her job. Her recommendations were exactly what we were looking for as we didn't quite know our way around absolutely everything on the menu. The ingredients were of very good quality, beautifully cooked and seasoned, and yet plentiful in portions. We went for South African specialities but the burgers,/wedges/salad platters looked absolutely amazing.

Genuine South African 'feel'! The steak was to die for! I doubt that one could find better in Edinburgh, let alone Scotland. Wash it done with an ice cold Castle Lager!

We had a good first time here, the food platters are huge with delicious meat & I would challenge anyone to eat everything they are served. Recommended with a 5 because I always say there are ways to improve but I think this restuarant would struggle to do that. We will definitely return, well done to all the staff. Thank you

Amazing food, great atmosphere and very friendly, efficient staff. Husbands lion rib eye steak was huge! Had to take a doggy bag home! Will definitely return and recommend to friends.

Excellent food and prompt service, the drinks are little bit expensive for the section provided, but over all we had a very enjoyable meal at Shebeen.

Excellent! Best steaks and ribs in Edinburgh, great service, and the milk tart is delicious! The South African dishes are very good and great to try something different but really tasty!

Amazing meat Heven is a understatement had one of the best steaks in Edinburgh a definite contender to kyloe though here you get more steak for your money and a nice bottel of vino will be back !!

The Shebeen in Morrison St in Edinburgh is excellent, the food was perfect and the service was first class, a great start to our anniversary night out, we will definitely be returning.

Fantastic food and Service. All reasonably priced. Will certainly be back numerous times :) The steaks are monsters and cut by the in house chefs to South African sizes. Also a great choice of South African wines at decent prices

Great restaurant. Wonderful friendly staff that served great South African dishes. It was my first visit and decided to try the mix grill. The flavours were amazing. Took me back to the days in South Africa. Managed to wash it all down with great Windhoek lager. I would certainly recommend to anyone that enjoy flamed grilled steak at it's best. This will certainly not be my last visit. If you want to enjoy a great steak or try something different then you can always try the bunny chow which is on the list for next time.
