Very friendly place. Good food, lovely live music. Service was quick and food fresh. Was it cheap? I would say reasonable. We're definitively going back.

Great Food and excellent, friendly service. Authentic Food, really tasty and a lovely relaxed atmosphere in the Restaurant. A hidden gem in Newcastle. Highly recommended!

Meal very good to much in fact had to leave some chips and pitta bread will visit again .The chicken and herbs very different and exceptional taste

It is a place were one can find real greek food at reasonable price. Quality is great, staff is kind and atmosphere is good. Highly recommended

Food was ok but the service was terrible. Had the main served while we were still having a starter, then when the starter was finished they refused to clear it up couldn't get the man's attention for a drink as was constantly ignored!! shoved in the corner and left to be ignored so a party of women could be waited on hand and foot. As a gay woman I believe this was the reason for being ignored. Do not go here if you Dont appear as straight

Good food. Had the Meze for vegetarians. Tasty. Varied. Good value. Would go again. Also had a sweet of yoghurt and honey. Loved that! Recommended

The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere though it was quite quiet while we were there The staff were very welcoming and very helpful when it came to choosing our dishes We would certainly highly recommend it

Very clean, good service and a nice atmosphere but staff outnumbered the clients. Mixed grill ok but salad consisted of grated carrot and shredded lettuce. Starter choices a bit limited since last visit.

Very good. Staff were attentive and friendly. Food fresh and quickly served. A bit too many herbs on my salad which overwhelmed the flavour of the salad, but otherwise delicious.

Something's changed? The calamari was like fried rubber bands, the tirokafteri had no chilli and I suspect it was off. Shame that has tainted our opinion of this place

Good food, friendly staff and authentic atmosphere. We had chicken gyros and very nice, plenty to eat but not overloaded. Will visit again soon and recommend to others.

Absolutely lovely Greek restaurant. The three of us had the Mezze Banquet - lots of tastes of different dishes in a stready stream from the kitchen. Absolutely first class - we were very pleasantly stuffed by the end of it. Very nice Greek wine list too which is not expensive! Thoroughly recommended!

Lovely food very cheap nice atmosphere very helpful staff! Would go there again and try it for lunch better than going to a chain restaurant ...

Had a lovely meal and reasonably priced, the staff were very polite, we made a small change to our order which was no problem to them, Greek music playing reminded me of being on holiday, I will definitely recommend to friends

Every aspect of the place reminded us the tavernas in Greece. Music was joyful. Enjoyed the food (panseta scharas), which was worth every penny. Definetely coming back !

Really enjoyed it was for a family birthday. Everyone's meals looked lovely and the staff were very friendly. Just wish we had the sunshine to go with it like Greece.

Sunday 7th May We'd booked a table for 8, for a big family meal during the afternoon We had a great time, food was delicious & plenty of it. Staff we're great, nothing was to much trouble even with two teenagers ! There was a lovely atmosphere to the place which was only improved by the live music provided in spells across the afternoon. We've been coming here years & it has never let us down & the new menu with new dishes makes us want to come back again & again.

Made to feel welcome on arrival. Excellent menu with a varied selection of food. Food well prepared. nicely presented, hot when served and very tasty. Staff were very attentive and helpful and general atmosphere of the restaurant was very good. Would definitely go again if staying in Newcastle.

Friendly staff, lovely meal. Not been for a long time but will definitely be going back. Booked for a Friday night before going to the theatre. 5 people who all had a nice meal.

Food was excellent, and too much for some of us. Prices were very fair - eight of us ate main courses and had drinks, including five glasses of wine, £112. Service was friendly and efficient. Would go there again.

Food was amazing. Atmosphere was like being back in Greece. So much food will take it home next time. Service was so quick and staff were very friendly and professional.

Food was great as always at the unspoilt Simply Greek Tavern, along with the fun and welcoming staff. Staff went above and beyond to ensure we were given full attention, especially as it was a Birthday celebration (decorations on the table and complementary cake!!). Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again shortly.

Mezze to die for, Mythos was cold, Greek wine was sweet, Staff were friendly so a great meal in lovely surroundings was had by all

Came for hubby's 40th birthday as he loves greek food. We were a large group. The food was amazing, very authentic. We will certainly be back!

Excellent food, helpful staff, very reasonably priced. Couldn't fault it! Went as a group of 5, we all had different meals and everyone loved it.

Have been to The Simply Greek Tavern several times before and really enjoy the food and the general atmosphere, staff are also very friendly and prices very competitive. However on this occasion The Greek Tavern have employed a singer and a pianist, the tavern is not overly large and the music was deafening, it was so bad we had to complain. There were seven of us and none of us enjoyed the evening, totally down to the excessively loud music, we had to shout to make ourselves heard. Sorry to say we will not be returning till this situation is rectified.

Great food loved it! I have recently returned from a holiday in Rhodes and wanted to stay in Greek-mode a bit longer. I wasn't disappointed !

The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was also delicious (we had the mixed mezze for 2) and it was more than enough for 2 people! Would definitely go back.
