Swadesh is spreading its brand of luxuriant Indian cuisine across the Greater Manchester region, and comes to the pretty village of Bowdon courtesy of its Richmond Road premises, as gorgeously decorated as all its sibling restaurants are. Just as well, for Swadesh (and its cousins the Sangam family of restaurants) have built a reputation for providing an exceedingly fine Indian dining experience. Just a short drive from nearby Altrincham, Swadesh Bowdon is luring curious diners and weekend day-trippers from across Trafford and even further afield.
Swadesh Bowdon’s menu is as rich and exploratory as its siblings restaurants’ menus are. The chefs at this semi-rural Trafford Indian restaurant have been recruited from top-flight establishments from around the world, and have happily created a list of Indian and South Asian delicacies that showcase the depth and complexity of these regions’ vast cuisines. You can’t go wrong when you take a table at Swadesh’s Richmond Road premises with a mixed platter to start, shared between two. The Tandoori Khazana features Hyderabadi seekh kebab, lamb puht, mahi salmon, makhmali tikka with mint chutney, while the vegetarian option is just as opulent and carefully curated: paneer achari tikka, tandoori khuley, subz pakora, and tandoori gobi.
Continuing your journey of discovery through this treasure trove of Indian cuisine, we heartily recommend checking out the chef’s recommendations, many of which are unique to Swadesh Bowdon’s Richmond Road restaurant. In particular, the chef’s special curry is proving a hit with curry connoisseurs from nearby Altrincham and further out in Trafford and Greater Manchester. This offering changes every, but is invariably exquisite. More regular dishes from this masterful cook include the grilled tandoori murg amritsari, with baby chicken marinated in a mild yoghurt, authentic Indian paneer cheese and cream sauce, with green cardamom, mace, coriander, the whole cooked in the clay oven.
