Really disappointed with the restaurant and food. I had the beef pie and it was awful, just a skin thin layer of pastry on top and the bits of beef were floating around with a few bits of the carrot.. for £11.50 this was so over priced. I also had the warm fudge cake which wasn't warm at all and had a tiny scoop of ice cream with it The restaurant was chilly and there was no loo roll in the ladies Really disappointed

We had the good Mexican food from the huge menu and the staff were really friendly. Don’t be put off by the slightly worn seats. Enjoy!

A good honest canalised pub offering simple but tasty food. No frills but some really lovely staff members who were helpful and friendly on this, our first visit. I would certainly return here again based on the experience of this visit. Not fine dinning in any way, but a really good option in a very busy area of the city.

Excellent meal with perfectly cooked steak, staff were friendly and a nice view over the canal. Definitely will go again. Just a pain to get to if you walk from city centre die to closures.

We had very good Sunday roast, and we're delighted with the pudding. The service also very good from happy, smiling staff. Nice pub inside, and super location beside canal. Slight disappointment not to get apple sauce with pork; partly our fault because we didn't ask!

Busy venue for a Sat night to be expected but reserved table was ready early. Excellent Timothy Taylor landlord & Old Speckled to go wolith the wide menu choice all served hot and reasonably priced for a city centre eatery.

In the past when I have visited the Tap & Spile the service and food as been outstanding, but this time the visit was marred by a lack of staff, for there did not seem to be enough staff to for the number of customers that were present, making the service somewhat slower than usual. On top of which one of my party had a gammon steak, which had so much salt in it, she was unable to eat it. It's expected that there is some salt in a gammon as it's part of the curing process. The manager did make a concession to to this when the bill was presented. The staff were great despite the pressure they were under. Currently i'm not sure that I will return or not.

Even though the place was busy on a Saturday around 6pm, we received a great service at our table that we had reserved. Staff were friendly and the chip shop style chips were excellent. The chicken pizza I had was freshly made and lovely.

Had a fabulous pre-theatre meal here last night. Pub was very busy - typical of a Sat night in Birmingham. Nevertheless felt cosy rather than claustrophobic. Staff were all attentive & very friendly which infected the customers too resulting in a great atmosphere. Food was served hot, well presented and well enjoyed. My steak was cooked to perfection. All in all thoroughly enjoyed and our new go-to place in Birmingham.

Tap and Spile was okay. It wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be and didn’t live up to other reviews. However, it did the job - an alright meal before a concert.

Had a lovely three course meal prior to going to a show at Birmingham Symphony hall, both had soup of the day to start (spinach), both had fish and chips for main then strawberry cheesecake and chocolate pudding for desserts, drinks lovely, I had morretti while better half had vodka and coke, all reasonably priced and served quickly by superb staff, only downside but minor is can be pretty noisy with people drinking around the dining area

Been several times and food and service is usually very good. On this occasion the food was not as inspiring. The chicken was a little dry and the salad was limited to green leaves, could have been much better.
