Nice location/decor. Ambience a little cold and acoustic very loud - it needs some rugs or soft furnishings to absorb high frequencies and dampen down the dynamics. Food was a little disappointing. We were expecting more subtle flavours and interesting/stylish presentation (Dishoom manages this really well in London). Two (chicken tikka and the lamb) of the three mains were well constructed and cooked but the third (paneer) was swamped with overly hot sauce/reduction. One of the appetisers (potato with yoghourt and a sweet tamarind? sauce) was way too big a portion. Waitress did not know the menu well and persisted with unwanted menu suggestions throughout, even though we knew exactly what we wanted - this was irritating after a while. She also misinterpreted our need for her to speak clearly enough so we could understand as an insult - suggesting that maybe we didn't like her accent . . .?! At the end, Masala Chi was a teabag version and very weak - it is easy to make, so no excuses. The Lassi was good and the coffee ok. Our bill was £107 for 3 people with only one small glass of wine each. Water was £4 a bottle. Disappointing - but not a disaster. It would need to re-focus on the subtlety in the menu for us to return and recommend.
The food was amazing and the wine was gorgeous, the service was fab, staff were helpful, the restaurant is beautiful and the toilets were pristine. Cannot fault the place Will definitely be going again.
The food and service were excellent and the staff were really friendly and happy to answer questions about the food and make recommendations. We'd definitely go again.
This is a wonderful Indian cuisine. The dishes are very unusual and the spices are to die for. Me and my boyfriend went for valentines day and it was a set menu which was great. We will be returning to try the a la carte menu very soon.
Tapasya Marina is a fantastic place to go. The staff were friendly, yet professional, the decor and atmosphere were modern, relaxing and inviting. The food and drinks were excellent. Lovely cocktails. The menus were nice and clear to read (especially when one's eyes are not what they once were!) The only dampener on the evening was when the alarm sounded and lots of staff were running around trying to find where it was coming from. Took several minutes to detect it and then turn it off - kinda ruined the mood somewhat. Apparently that was the second time that the alarm had gone off, so maybe they need to look into something to prevent that happening when it doen't need to! I will be going back to the restaurant.
First time at a new restaurant that has just opened can be drought with all manner of problems. Not here though. The setting, furnishings and decor is first class. The food, absolutely excellent (Indian fusion is brilliant). The waiting staff are still finding their feet but we're clearly intending to offer first class service and this will come with experience. As a first time experience, I couldn't fault it.
The food here is amazing - great service and a great atmosphere!!!! A brilliant addition to Kingston upon Hull strongly recommended. The butter chicken is a must
Great setting and stunning food, highly recommended even for people who aren't fans of Indian food, it isn't overly expensive and has great drinks selection too.
Great service with great food in a very smart restaurant. This was the best Indian meal we have eaten in a long time. Will certainly be back on a regular basis.
We went for valentines it was a fixed menu but very nice. We will definitely be going again. Not cheap but don't mind paying for quality.
Service wasn't sharp or attentive, food ok but not quite decided what it is, Indian or Indian English! I won't be rushing back as not value for money either!
Was to over priced for a what you ordered wasn't the wow factor at all would not recommend to others. Quite tasteless the meals and not enough quantity
Excellent Indian with a twist. The best I've ever had! Great service. Staff couldn't do enough and were really helpful. Definitely would recommend this restaurant
Our waiter was fantastic, my starter was delicious, didn't enjoy the lamb gosht, way too rare for me, not very tasty and for the most expensive dish on the menu it was disappointing to say the least. Everything else was fantastic thought. I wouldn't say it was good value for money, for me what we had was overpriced. Would I return? Maybe when the menu changes so there is a choice of things that I may like (the menu is very minimal)
Great food in an atmospheric restaurant. The food is a great modern take on Indian food. I would definitely recommend it and will be going back soon.
Our first visit last night was fabulous...food excellent, service goo and atmosphere lovely. Just what Hull has been waiting for. Will definitely be going back soon.
Very Good service ,nice location and Excellent food . a must for Indian food lovers NOT A CURRY HOUSE Large selection of wines Hopefully the menu with interesting twists continues to grow
Great food! Attended with my partner for valentines weekend and was delighted at the quality of food and the portion size. The wine was great and the service too! Would definitely reccomend.
Great experience - food, service, atmosphere, venue. Would be good to have more than 2 mains choices for vegetarians - that would encourage us to go back more often.
We went for our fist visit on a Sunday afternoon, 2.45, to be told there was only the offer of afternoon tea. If anyone is thinking of going for afternoon tea please eat before hand, what we had wasn't worth what we paid, there were only 10 people in, 3 of us and another table of 5 adults and two children, and although there were no other choices it took 49 mins for our order to be taken, three times I asked for the wine menu, it never arrived One waitress for 10 people, more than enough, 1 hour 45 mins for afternoon tea, not good enough
We went on a night that the gas and electricity failed. We were not kept informed of what was going on and walked out! Poor
Amazing food, ambience and staff. Would recommend to anyone! Reasonably priced for the quality. Both my friend and I would make a trip back for more!
Excellent setting and service, food was very nicely presented and had lots of flavour. Service was swift without feeling you were being pushed along. We did feel it was a rather expensive meal @ £67 but as the overall experience was good you could expect this to be the case. Maybe a place to visit for a more special occasion.
Great food and service at a very good price. We enjoyed every bit of the experience. Can't wait to go back! A must for anyone
Lovely setting and food delicious but limited menu with very poor puddings. Also felt quite rushed once eaten. For such a large restaurant they seated all cramped in one area which affected the ambience a little.
Service friendly and efficient. Decor and surroundings some of the best in Hull. Food excellent well presented and something special. Will definitely return and recommend to our friends.
Amazing! Cannot fault this place. Great food, amazing cocktails and very friendly service by all the staff. Would defintaeley return and recommend to any one.
Food was outstanding, could not fault it. Service needs a lot of work, was extremely poor and very impersonal, for the money we were paying I would expect more.
Gorgeous food and cocktails, would highly recommend the espresso martinis! Just right portion sizes and attentive staff. Nice for a special occasion or a treat.
Nice food, good atmosphere and reasonably priced. The menu is clear and not overwhelming with choice. It's not standard Indian cuisine but higher quality. And all reasonably priced.
the food is outstanding, the service is fab and all round a wonderful restaurant. so if you love Indian food you will not be disappointed
Food amazing, service good. There were 6 of us and everyone enjoyed it and we would all visit again. Food was reasonably priced too. Overall it was excellent
Amazing tasting food, lovely atmosphere and great service! Very knowledgeable on gluten free food which made a difference. Had a great night and will be back very soon!!
All four of us really enjoyed our choices for Sunday lunch. The lamb, fish, chicken selections, rice and potatoes were particularly tasty, the daal was disappointing and the dessert unnecessary. Also two mints, after the meal, for 4 people was a little odd. Overall it was a pleasant experience.
Booked our meal was really looking forward to this after reading other reviews! The food when it finally came was very nice however we had to wait over 65 minutes for it to arrive from having our starter was just about to leave when the meal arrived to our table. Then to top the experience off they added over £40 to our bill for items we had not ordered! Will not be going back again spoilt our expectations.
Nice restaurant, good food although could be a lot better! Menu was good but no real description of what each dish was and the waitress offered no help when choosing, it's not a traditional Indian restaurant with dishes that you know! Starter and main came too quickly , I felt rushed and had to slow down as the experience would've all been over in 45 minutes. My duck dish was ok, meat was perfectly cooked but the sauce was bland, my son is a vegetarian and there was two choices, he had the paneer which he enjoyed! Pleased I've been as a lot of talk, would I go back? Wouldn't be bothered either way, didn't do enough for me to say wow!
Great food, great service, but tables are much to small for Indian style, multi dish food and the array of wine and water glasses. Try the Indian produced wines, they are excellent!
We had a really tasty meal at Tapasya last night. Great atmosphere with fantastic food. Can thoroughly recommend. Only a tiny niggle- it was a little too dark at our table- a candle would have been enough. Was only table without a down lighter over it. Otherwise, fantastic and we will be back- best Indian food in the area and as good as any we've eaten in India.
Very good food - deliciously spicy and flavoursome. Impeccable service - waiter very friendly and helpful. Great ambience - relaxed but feels classy. Will definitely return.
Tapasya Marina is a great restaurant in an excellent setting. The staff are welcoming and attentive without being intrusive and the selection of food and drink is great and of high quality. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for business, couples and groups of people. It's not a cheap Indian restaurant, but the food and fine dining experience makes it value for money!
