Lovely pub with a proper fire. Wonderful hors d'oeuvre of mixed breads got us off to a fine start & then a first course of risotto followed by roast beef (giant Yorkshire Pudding!) & then sticky toffee pudding: yum yum! Not the cheapest but it was good value & the service was excellent.

Great atmosphere, nice people, exceptional food. We were expected and met by a highly professional team. They were very nice to us throughout the evening. Most importantly the food was excellent.

The Bay Horse is fabulous from the moment you step in the door. If old world charm, roaring fires, elegant but cosy dining with superb service and food are what you like, this is the place for you! No complaints whatsoever! Two course lunch on Saturday for £20 was excellent value for money in my very particular books when the quality of surroundings, food and service was so high.

Fantastic food, great staff, lovely atmosphere, never disappoints. I'm vegetarian and the dishes on the Christmas menu were a real treat, my partner had the beef, it looked to be a popular dish on the evening, a real buzz when people received their dish. Definitely going back.

As always, very tasty food, starters and main course. Wide ranging menu with plenty of choice. Well presented food. Staff were very helpful and attentive but not intrusive. Very pleasant surroundings.

Beautiful ambience, excellent friendly service and the food was spot on, not a morsel left on the plate and the flavours were fantastic. The little extras, like the miniature breads with the starter and chocolates with the coffee made it a memorable evening. I would recommend it to anyone.

Well run welcoming restaurant. Menu changes quite regularly-today’s had more game. Good choice of fish. Market menu unbeatable value for this quality in this area.

The food was delicious, it was excellently presented and the staff were friendly and polite. The service was quick and the setting was just perfect.

We have eaten quite a few times over the years at the Bay Horse it is one of our favourites. The meal did not disappoint it was excellent from start to finish, and the service was also very good. The only small negative we would have preferred to be in the main dining area as the smaller room where we two were seated, a combination of a large group at an adjoining table and poor acoustics made it difficult at times to converse.

Our first visit here and I am hoping that we will be able to go again when next in the area, excellent food and service, amongst the very best! Well done and see you again soon I hope

Food was fantastic! We chose from the Market Menu and it was great value for money, the restaurant was quiet but the service was very attentive.

The bay horse is an excellent village pub with fine dining. They have a separate gluten free menu that offers nearly everything that the regular menu does which from my experience is almost unheard of.

All great except wait between starter and main course was too long. Food was superb for all of us and the waitress was attentive but not intrusive.

Great front of house, the pub has lovely character and the food is brilliant. Very reasonably priced and left feeling very full after three courses.

Service was great: attentive and friendly. Food was absolutely delicious. The chicken was good to perfection. My only complaint was that the onions in the risotto were not listed on the menu (I don't like them), but otherwise a lovely meal

I had heard about the Bayhorse from a couple of people but wanted to try it out for ourselves. It doesn’t disappoint. It has to be one of the best Sunday lunches we’ve ever had. We will definitely be returning to try out the lunch or evening menu soon!

Beautiful cuisine and great service, staff were friendly and welcoming. The interior design is classy, and the food is very well presented and all the flavours on the plate compliment so well. Will definitely return, the food is expensive however this is expected for the qaulity of it. This was our first time and will not be the last!

Great staff, bar guy knew his gins, was happy to recommend. Found him very warming. Food was really good. The place has a nice ambiance about it. Will definitely be returning.

Menu exciting and varied. Our meat arrived cold but the meals were swiftly replaced by hotter ones. Atmosphere lively ,staff helpful. Looking forward to returning for a Christmas lunch.

The Bay Horse was outstanding. It was recommended to my by my brother and we are so glad we went. The food was sensational, the flavours and quality of the food was superb. We sampled some delicious wines, service was exemplary and we will be back!

Beautifully presented delicious food, definitely worth making the trip out of Darlington for it! We did have to go find a waiter ourselves every time we wanted more drinks which was the only little annoyance of the night, but the food was so good I'm still giving it the maximum rating of 6/6.

Food good as always but service was absolutely abysmal and tainted evening. Will be a long time before we’re back for that reason, shame as it’s always been good in past!

I couldn't fault a single thing. From the beers, to the service, the wine (and knowledge and enthusiasm offered when enquiring on wines) and the food, every part of the experience was fantastic. I've never been disappointed with the Bay Horse Its one of my favourite places

With so much choice available now for dining out in the Tees Valley area, it’s easy to criticise, but little things make for an enjoyable night out. Little gripes during our visit, not a single smile during the entire evening from any member of staff, waitress asking if we had finished our starters while we were still eating it! Food was very nice but had varying degrees of heat. All in all the meal was nice, but when you’re paying in excess of £130 for a 3 course meal for 2, I would expect a little more.

Fabulous food, great value and attentive and friendly staff. Couldn’t criticise anything about tonight’s meal. I really rate this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone. A foreign guest with us tonight rated it better than some Michelin star restaurants he’s been to.

Superb Sunday lunch, slightly more expensive than most lunches but well worth it. Standard of food and presentation were excellent with very friendly service. Would definitely recommend a visit.
