From start to finish the usual attentive but not intrusive service. The Market menu is well worth considering as a mid week cost effective alternative

The Bay Horse offers a consistently high standard with staff who are attentive but not intrusive. The food is excellent and well presented. For a mid week lunch the fixed price menu is hard to beat. Have been several times and cannot see any reason why I should not continue.

Great choice for all tastes. Imaginative and very well cooked and presented. Superb choice of accompanying wines for each dish. Service was attentive but not intrusive.

Another excellent and well presented meal at The Bay Horse, Hurworth. Good ambience and service, friendly and welcoming staff made a birthday celebration that bit special. We will definitely return.

Great food, great wine, great service and beautiful surroundings. It isn’t the type of place to go to be ‘fed’ but if you appreciate good food, then this is the one.

Amazing food , friendly and cosy atmosphere. We travel 45 minutes to go here. Sunday dinners are the best in the north east by far!!

Very good Sunday lunch accompanied by an excellent Malbec slightly disappointed that there were not lighter options on sweet menu, sticky toffee pud is great in winter but a nice light creme brulee or fresh summer pudding would have been more to my taste didn't think the pineapple cheesecake worked. Staff were smart polite and very efficient, ale selection very good, premises smart, would we return absolutely the star was the beef, accompanied by a very nice selection of vegetables and a giant home made yorkshire pudding

First time customers- we were a party of 4. We all thought the food was excellent- particularly the starters, mains and cheese. The wine was wonderful and the service was lovely too. Would highly recommend and worth the price.

We have visited the Bay Horse of many occasions before and never been disappointed. Today we both chose from the Fixed Price Lunch menu. The choice was limited, the portions were perfect for a hot day. This was exactly what we required. None of the 3 courses could be faulted. The service was impeccable: attentive and non intrusive. Altogether excellent value at £20 a head. Sitting outside in the shade was a bonus!

The food as usual was excellent. The weekday market menus offer good choice of great tasting food that is a cut above the usual pub standards, all at a reasonable price. Nice environment with pleasant staff what more could you want. Well worth a visit.

Visited for Father's Day treat. Excellent, beautifully presented food using , high quality ingredients. The staff were very friendly , service was very good & the location was beautiful . All in all a lovely experience. We would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends.

I visit my sister from York once a week to go out for dinner and The Bay Horse is one of our favourite places to go. The food is always delicious and wonderfully presented.

Exceptional. We’re accomdated very well with a baby and a 4 year old. Food to the highest standard - we were even offered another risotto for our daughter so no “green bits in” will most certainly be back.

We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at the Bay Horse and absolutely loved it. The people were friendly and helpful plus the food was amazing. I was fortunate to choose a great and reasonably priced red wine from the menu which complemented the fantastic stakes and cheese. The complementary champagne was also great.

Booked for my wife's birthday. Great venue and location. Sunday lunch food was well presented and very tasty staff very friendly and attentive. Would recommend for a Sunday lunch.

Lovely meal, went for lunch with my daughter and Grandson. Excellent service. My daughter had the fish platter which she said was the best ever, Henry had a child's chicken risotto which he really enjoyed.

Great experience as always, well balnced menu, food beautifully presented with fresh, seasonal ingredients. A knowledgeable wine waiter recommended red and white wines that complimented a wonderful meal

Food was excellent, staff were lovely and friendly. Plenty of parking right outside the front door. Will definitely be back as we couldn't fault a thing.

The food was great. Unfortunately £100 worth of wine was added to our bill, apparently they had given us the wrong bottle at the start of the meal. As the bottle was no longer on the table this was difficult to verify. We had though ordered another bottle and this was definitely not the one they were charging for! When we queried the bill they rectified the mistake but made out it was us that had caused the problem! Food great, service needs work.

First visit after wanting to eat here for a while and will certainly be visiting again. All three courses were absolutely spot on for all.

Excellent as usual but father in law didn't like pidgeon. Will be back again next year on the way to Seahouses for our annual holiday

Went on a Sunday evening therefore the menu was limited had the crab for a starter but was disappointed there was only about a table spoon of crab meat on the plate the fillet steak for the main course was OK. The service was good and the wine reasonably priced.

Great little pub and restaurant. Good quality freshly cooked , food. Friendly helpful staff and good service. Great atmosphere , even on a sunny day a candle on every table . Will be going again ! Can’t wait

Doesnt get much better than this restaurant... lovely setting, efficient staff and superb food... delicious on every level... love it! Came esp from the North East to stay at Rockliffe Hall to indulge in a night of gastronomic delight at this my favourite restaurant!!

This is an excellent restaurant. The food was amazing with excellent quality ingredients. The service is exceptional even in a very busy restaurant which you don’t always get elsewhere. Love this place and will be back soon.

We had a party of 6 for lunch prior to a thanksgiving service at Croft for a dear friend who had departed. It cheered us up and we enjoyed the food. It even impressed our friends from London who had been name-dropping about restaurants in London. Service was excellent, especially as we were in a slight hurry towards the end. Many thanks

Visited for a birthday celebration. The food was first class and the staff were welcoming. Will definitely visit again. Dining room has been refurbished since our last visit.
