The staff were friendly and polite. A couple of mistakes on the order for food and drinks, nothing major though. They were clearly understaffed for mothers day. The food took a long time to arrive, and was pretty ok/good, nothing special really, just an average Sunday pub lunch. I imagine on a quieter day it may be a bit better, but staffing levels left them properly under the pump, so I felt a bit bad for them.

Over an hour wait for food, no apology or checkin, food served was warm borderline cold, over charged for drinks(by that point couldn’t be bothered to argue over a few quid). A number of staff were rude. What a shame, we used to love coming for a meal here. I appreciate it was Mother’s Day and you were busy but there were some basics that were missing

Overall the Sunday lunch was good, but we found that the food wasn’t hot when it came out. The service could have been better, the staff didn’t come across very attentive and seemed easily distracted. Some of the staff seemed quite new or inexperienced. One waitress, when clearing our plates, was scraping food from one plate onto another right in front of us, which is a big no and was not nice. A couple of other minor things were that we ordered a second round of drinks and the waiter brought over a Guinness 0% still in the can with a glass, rather than pouring it at the bar like the first one had been. And bringing over the wrong sized cutlery for dessert. I hope this feedback is helpful, as improving these things would make for a much better experience next time :)

The service was extremely poor. It was clear the restaurant had taken on more than they could manage. After being seated, we waited 45 minutes just to get a drink order taken, despite asking three different members of staff if we could order. When the food eventually arrived it was acceptable, but my daughter’s meal was incorrect and had to be sent back to be re-cooked. It’s a real shame, as the experience has put us off returning. My wife was particularly disappointed given that this was meant to be a Mother’s Day meal.

Important Update:

Quandoo is closing down. This is a planned, phased process and our platform remains available until 30 September 2026.

Not impressed with the roast dinners at all. They’ve really gone downhill. Chicken felt like it had been boiled rather than roasted.

Booked a table expecting to have pizza, only to be told after we were seated that pizza wasn’t available that night. There was no mention of this on the website when booking, which was frustrating as that’s the main reason we chose to go. We then tried to order a Thai curry and were told it wasn’t available either because they had no rice. A few minutes later they suddenly “found some rice”, so it was back on the menu again. When the curry finally arrived, well over an hour after ordering, it was cold and had to be sent back to be reheated. A separate meal ordered by someone else at the table was particularly poor, with some elements completely inedible. The burgers were dry, the baps were crusty, and one burger meal arrived without the side dish it was supposed to include. Another annoyance was being charged £5.95 for water, which wasn’t made clear when ordering. When we raised the issues, staff acknowledged the experience had been poor and said they would apply a discount… which turned out to be a mere 10% off the bill. Overall, a really disappointing visit. There is a step change in reduced standards since the brewery took it over. Sadly, we won’t be back for a long time.

Overall a nice roast but the pork was a little dry and the cauliflower cheese not the best, not enough sauce or cheese. Lovely village pub and nice staff.

The service was very slow, drinks were not offered until the order was taken for the food. We waited 1 hour for food. Then when the food came one was only just warm, so clearly had been hanging around a while. Also one of us is dairy free so chose the Bell Burger. There was no mention of cheese on the burger in the menu, but it came with cheese, this was not expected! ☹️☹️☹️

Very slow service, didn't seem enough staff. Waitress didn't know an item was off the menu, normally nice to know before hand as took even longer as had to re-order one of the meals. We were going to have puddings, but when plates were finally cleared and no one came to ask after a good 45mins we couldn't be bothered to wait any longer. We know they were busy, correcting other tables orders that were wrong, so don’t think it was a great night sadly. The food was nice and enjoyable, it's definitely the service that was lacking.

The staff were very welcoming and pleasant, couldn't fault the service at all. Sadly the food did not match the standard for the price. We like our veg more on the firm side, but the parsnips and cauliflower were barely cooked, and hard to cut with the knife. The food was plentiful but I had the pork. and was expecting a nice crispy crackling, there was very little meat and a lot of fat. and definitely no sign of any crackling , The amount that was actually edible was the amount of meat you would get on small lamb chop. The flavours were delicious, so such a shame the quality of the meat and undercooked veg let it down. Would we return. probably not for a Sunday roast, as we have had better elsewhere.

4 of us ordered a meal but they somehow forgot the 4th one - so 2 of us had finished our meal before the final one came out. Waitress forgot about us re our pudding order too, until we caught her eye and she came over to take our order with apologies. Having said that, food was great and the venue itself is lovely - I have been a couple of times before and service was always good. Probably one person having a bad day.

There were a lot of staff working. However they were less than attentive and did not have an eye for detail. Food arrived but no cutlery. No napkins and no finger bowl for the mussels. It wasn't a problem to ask and we then received the items. However it was just a little draining and did not enhance the customer experience. Food absolutely wonderful.

Slightly disappointing compared to previous visits. Lack of atmosphere. Pizza excellent but the rest of the food was OK rather than great. £18 for a piece of cauliflower the size of a starter seems excessive and main pasta portion seemed a bit small too. Service good. There’s something missing but I can’t quite put my finger on it.

Lovely staff, delicious food, can highly recommend the gnocchi with mushrooms and spinach. The chef even did a vegan version of the garlic ciabbatta with olive oil instead of butter - that was lush!!

The food was great. The service however was slower than we would have liked. It seemed on a Saturday night that there was one bar staff & one waiting staff. It was t enough to ensure a smooth flow for customers.
