Service friendly and excellent with nothing to much trouble. The meal was terrific and excellent value. We have already recommended the cellar door to all our friends and looking forward to going back in the future.

Highest rating for the starter, a tartlet of asparagus, tomato and goat cheese. The rib eye was fine, but unexceptional. Noise level was moderate, service excellent.q

Lovely smiling and knowledgeable staff along with relatively quick service. Easy to book dinner online. Only downside was the recommended main course (a seafood sharing fish off the specials menu) was a bit dry. Waitress did acknowledge the comments we made and said they'd be passed on to the chef. As an apology, we did receive a discount on the bill, which was good of them.

Sehr nettes kleines Restaurant, in dem man gepflegt typisch schottisch essen kann. Wir waren mit der Qualität der Speisen sowie dem freundlichen Service sehr zufrieden.

Delicious food very nicely served. Pleasant staff and smart decor. Restaurant was quiet at lunchtime and deserves to be busier, particularly in such a prime location.

Great meal and our server was fantastic...menu is focused so check to see if they have something that tickles your fancy. This is the restaurant for those who seek out the unique and not run of the mill...give them a try...we loved it!

Gentilissimi all'accoglienza, posto romantico e intimo. Cibo squisito e gustoso, sia il pollo che il pesce. Alla fine, per il compleanno di mia moglie, hanno anche portato il dolce con con una simpatica candelina...

Amazing food. Really good use of colours, flavours and textures. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Endinburgh, one of the best meals I've had in a long time.

Very disappointing. Chicken satay and avocado for starter was served without avocado!! Starters were only warm. Table of 7 next to us also served wrong starters. We won't be back.

Each course was delicious and well presented. I appreciated that the courses were good portions, but not overwhelmingly large. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Superb food. We came here two years ago when we visited Edinburgh as a work friend recommend and we wasn't disappointed. We had to visit The Cellar Door again. Staff was amazing, took the time to talk to you and made you feel welcome. Definitely worth a visit!

Food was great, service was great. Only small issue was cost of one of kids desserts £6 for 3 scoops of ice cream when my other daughters cost £2 - just because she had a starter and main course off adult menu.

Restaurant a bit chaotic-stag party in-mistakes being made but food good, main courses especially, and pleasant waitress. It was okay but expensive-wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to return.

The food was excellent and interesting. Starters of cauliflower 3 ways and pork terrine were packed with flavour and mains of chicken with haggis and haddock risotto were equally great. Service friendly and efficient. A very underrated restaurant which deserves to succeed.

most of the dishes we ordered were too heavily salted and my chips were cut very unevenly in size (and not uniformly cooked through as a result).

Making the reservation was easy and the table was ready. I had completely overlooked the fact that there would be Christmas parties in progress and the noise (at first) was deafening. However, I enjoyed the atmosphere. The food (sweet potato soup, chicken with haggis stovies) that I ate was very good. In the circumstances the service was outstanding. Stephanie (university student) and Lorna were very attentive. Well done!

Food and service was great. We sat upstairs, there are only 3 tables though. Originally, we were going to sit downstairs, but our table wasn't quite ready as we had only just booked 30 minutes before. We were glad to just stay upstairs as the noise level was so great downstairs. Not just people, but music that was foreground not background. How does this music help the dining experience I wonder? Would go back as food was really good, but not on a Saturday night.

The Cellar Door is without a doubt one of my favourite restaurants in Edinburgh. The atmosphere and staff are both very welcoming, and the staff extremely knowledgeable about the food on offer. I had Cauliflower Three Ways, followed by butternut squash and red pepper risotto with blue cheese pearls, followed by Highland Sticky Toffee pudding, all of which were delicious! Would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning, hopefully sooner rather than later!
