Lovely atmosphere great service and food as always excellent, local to us but we have never had a bad experience here will continue to recommend!

Usual warm welcome to this cosy venue. Very attentive staff and a lovely meal with plenty of choice on the menu even very early in the evening.

Great food. Great service and great pace with no rushing you! Happy to recommend this pub. Would like to visit when the sun is out and enjoy the garden!

Very enjoyable food and service. We went on a Saturday for lunch - we couldn't get in on a Saturday for dinner because it was booked 3 - 4 weeks in advance - and both my wife and I had a beautiful meal off the "Specials" board.

Very enjoyable meal. Good menu choice. The sea bass with crayfish was well cooked and very tasty. Good attentive service but took some time to get the bill

Excellent food, very friendly staff. We visited for a family lunch out, we had three courses which was more than enough. My Lamb was stunning. The staff made a fuss of my kids and were very good with my Aunt and her requirements

Excellent food and excellent service. Very busy for a Monday evening but service was very prompt and the meals were at the table in no time. Highly recommended.

Fantastic environment and great food. I worked at the chequers when I was 14, one of my first jobs I think, and when I walked in a barely recognised the place, its trendy and upmarket yet still has the feeling of a country pub. Food is equisite, a real explosion of flavour. My only suggestion would be complimentary bread and oils before starters and not as an optional starter

As usual an Excellent breakfast - good service . Food perfectly cooked and hot. Prompt service for additional drinks which were requested . Comfortable surroundings.

Just had a wonderful lunchtime meal at The Chequers, our Dutch relatives loved the chicken pie. The atmosphere was great and the staff were lovely.

An excellent restaurant. Food is always good. I had a steak and it was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful and though we were last in there was no pressure for us to leave. Every time I eat there I say I'll be back and I will be!!

Fantastic. Driven past many times but finally booked for anniversary Sunday lunch. Very friendly and efficient staff, great choice, reasonably priced, very nice food. All round great experience.

Lovely food,friendly welcome oming prompt service.Delicious fresh fish. Warm and welcoming on a cold evening. In the bar area locals drinking,atmosphere very nice. In the restaurant quiet enough to hear conversation but not silent. Business good even on a Monday evening early.

Food was very nice, although only 1 vegetarian main option other than pizza. Service could have been more attentive (especially with ordering drinks) but staff were friendly and overall a pleasant experience and a nice atmosphere.

Beautifully presented meal from an imaginative menu in an environment with great ambiance. It was possible to have a conversation without being drowned out by other clients, and the service was very good.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. The homemade piccalilli with the starter my husband really enjoyed. We both had a superb cod dish from the mains special board. another enjoyable lunch.

Good quality food and ale; everyone enjoyed their meal. Service was slightly disappointing as we weren't asked if we would like desserts. The restaurant area was chilly.

Although the pub was quite busy for a Thursday lunch time, there was little help with my disabled mother. There are no grab rails in the WC cubicle either. As always, the food is really lovely.

We enjoyed the meal, and found the service very pleasant. The starter (British picnic) was unusual and well-presented. Mains (burger and cod special) were tasty, though the presentation of the burger was rather uninspiring. Desserts were delicious - the lemon tart with raspberry sorbet was one of the best desserts I've ever had, with zingy tastes and great textures. We'll be visiting again.

Beautiful food, lovely restaurant and very helpful and friendly staff, it's a winning combination for me. As a result of our experience we have booked the beach huts for our family and friends to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary.

A fantastic welcome and service provided. The food was fantastic and not overpriced. You felt that you had the time to eat and to take your time rather than being rushed.

I thought the food was disappointing. I had the steak which was exceedingly chewy and my wife was disappointed with the vegetarian choices. Must have changed hands.

Really great Lunch. Varied menu. Good service. Liver and Chicken burgers were particularly good. Reasonable prices in pleasant surroundings. The Pub was very busy. Good idea to book.

1st time at The Chequers but had heard good feedback for a number of years. Good food, good service in a cosy setting. Thoroughly recommend.

Visited for my wife's birthday. The staff were very friendly, the service excellent and the food superb. This was not our first visit and it will definitely not be our last.

Had an early Sunday evening meal for four and the whole experience was really pleasant throughout. Staff were friendly and courteous, the atmosphere was just right. The food was extremely well presented and very tasty. Will definitely call again.

Lovely atmosphere but even lovelier Calves Liver which was absolutely delicious, so rare to see it on a menu and I cant resist having it when I go to the Chequers or the Bell and Cross. The gravy is to die for. My other half had the Ham and Pea pie which was fabulous too. We are visiting again very soon. Great service too.

Great atmosphere.....excellent food.... Often go for weekend breakfast -so Sunday lunch with friends was a change....and well worth it. Staff always really friendly.... Very busy so would suggest booking is essential.

Food tasted ok but dissapointed with limited lunch menu. Would have liked menu to have been expanded to include more traditional fare and less fast food type.
